Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Machop’s Rapid Growth

The grassy area in front of the cave was noticeably bare, a clear testament to Machop's training efforts over the past few days.

Since their first day of simple drills, Ron had crafted a comprehensive training regimen for Machop.

7:00 AM: Morning run

8:00 AM: Breakfast

8:30 AM: Hunting and battling wild Pokémon

12:00 PM: Lunch

1:00 PM: Training resumes

7:00 PM: Dinner and rest

8:00–9:00 PM: Final training session before bedtime

For most Pokémon, such an intense routine would undoubtedly lead to burnout, even with carefully prepared Pokémon food and energy supplements.

But Ron had a secret weapon—Fighting Aura. This extraordinary ability ensured Machop remained brimming with energy, making him immune to the physical toll of high-intensity training.

Beyond that, Ron personally joined Machop's training, not only setting an example but also helping alleviate the monotony. Thankfully, Fighting Aura worked on Ron as well, healing his body and revitalizing him after each session. Unlike most people, Ron genuinely enjoyed the grueling process, which helped him stick with it.

"Hang in there, Machop! Just 20 more reps!" Ron's voice strained as he slowly squatted with a heavy boulder on his back.

His veins bulged, and beads of sweat dripped steadily onto the muddy ground beneath him. Nearby, Machop was mirroring his movements, hefting an even larger boulder, his sweat forming a small puddle.

"Twenty!" Ron exhaled sharply, setting down his boulder as the Fighting Aura kicked in, rejuvenating him instantly.

Machop, however, didn't stop. He continued the exercise with unwavering determination. Ron was no longer surprised by this behavior—after a few days together, he had identified Machop's Guts ability.

Unlike the games, a Pokémon's ability could subtly influence their personality. In Machop's case, Guts endowed him with resilience far beyond that of ordinary Pokémon. Every time he completed Ron's prescribed routine, Machop would add his own "extra credit," pushing himself to the brink of collapse.

With such a strong desire to grow, Ron couldn't bring himself to intervene, especially since Fighting Aura ensured Machop could handle the strain.

Machop was now trembling, his muscles nearing their limit after finishing the regular training. Yet, he pressed on, striving to break past his limits. Each squat was a herculean effort, accompanied by searing pain as if his muscles were tearing apart. Yet, he stood up again and again, his sheer determination carrying him through.

Suddenly, Machop's vision went black as if he were losing consciousness.

Having seen this happen countless times in his previous life, Ron immediately realized what was happening. He sprinted toward Machop, aiming to help him stabilize the massive boulder before it fell.

In the darkness, Machop saw the haunting memory that fueled his relentless drive—a moment of deep, unforgettable pain. It was this memory that ignited his burning desire to grow stronger.

A roar erupted from Machop, a cry of defiance against his own limits. His body, previously faltering, straightened with newfound vigor. Opening his eyes, the first thing he saw was Ron rushing toward him, his face filled with worry and concern.

It had been a long time since Machop had seen Ron so visibly shaken—the last time being when Ron had been struck by lightning. Machop couldn't help but grin.

"Don't push yourself like that again," Ron said softly, patting Machop's head. "Getting stronger doesn't happen overnight. It takes consistent effort over time."

Ron then collapsed onto the ground, exhaustion catching up to him. Machop placed the boulder aside and lay down next to him, soaking in the comforting warmth of Fighting Aura as it replenished his strength.

"Let's go, Machop! Use Leer!"

The familiar command echoed, much to the dismay of a nearby Rattata.

The wild Pokémon groaned inwardly. Could you imagine being challenged twice a day, every single day? If not for the recent decrease in wild Pokémon around here, forcing Rattata to expand his hunting grounds, he would've fled long ago.

Even so, Rattata moved swiftly, activating Quick Attack to evade Machop's gaze.

Eyeing Ron and Machop carefully, Rattata didn't dare launch a direct attack on Ron. Past defeats had taught him that targeting Ron would only result in Machop finding an opportunity to counter and defeat him even faster.

Instead, Rattata used Tail Whip to distract Machop before circling around with another Quick Attack, aiming to strike from behind.

Machop stood motionless, seemingly oblivious. It wasn't until Rattata was in position behind him that Ron's command rang out.

"Machop, Close Combat!"

With a powerful leap, Machop launched Rattata into the air, following up with a flurry of relentless punches. The poor Rattata didn't stand a chance. The difference in levels was too great—Machop was now Level 14, a full four levels above his opponent.

The gap was insurmountable. Even with debuffs like Tail Whip, Machop could take down Rattata in just two hits. A dazzling burst of white light marked Rattata's defeat as his small frame was sent flying.

"Finish it! Low Sweep!" Ron commanded.

Without hesitation, Machop closed the distance and delivered a sweeping kick, bringing the battle to a swift conclusion.

The ease with which Machop defeated Rattata was a clear sign that this area's wild Pokémon were no longer a challenge. The experience they provided was dwindling, and it was time for Ron and Machop to move on. But first, Ron had one last goal for the day: defeating every Pokémon in the vicinity again and attempting to capture a certain Meowth.

Through their shared Fighting Aura, Machop understood Ron's intentions with just a glance. His fighting spirit ignited, knowing he was just one step away from reaching Level 15.

On a nearby tree, the Meowth in question stirred from its nap, suddenly feeling a chill. It scanned its surroundings cautiously, but seeing nothing amiss, it yawned and settled back to sleep, unaware of the looming danger.
