Chapter 583: Operation Might Over All : Part Nine
"A deity you say? I tried to have my idiots worship me for a time, but impossible to get them to be properly faithful! I swear, is my adorable visage and gentle looks not worth some of your time to pray to?" lounging on a cliff whilst getting a shoulder massage, Hartracite whilst gnawing on some grass.
"You didn't know?" although she claimed to have accepted defeat, Herlbe often got the sentiment that she would push him down a cliff if given the occasion.
"Why would I? I only tried to kill Pangea'Kalst a few times before giving up, and I certainly did not give a damn about those smelly goblins and kobolds, they are even dumber than my idiots! What would happen if they bred together? Stinky fools fooler than the previous foolish fools? No thanks" the tsarina shook her head.
"Is it even important that he is a god in technical terms? Your idea is probably correct, all that divine energy, whatever it is, is probably immediately used up to further enlarge and reinforce his body, that would explain why he has grown to such proportions in the first place… The time I tried to kill him, he was not quite that big, after all" the revenant found his new brethren to be a bit too nonchalant about this all, not to mention that she didn't even look like an undead at all, still imagining herself as the rosy skinned petite lady, in fact, it was impossible to tell what sort of undead she was supposed to be as her true looks were manipulated even when under the guise of a viscacha.
"Divine energy is potent and just as flexible as mana is, if Pangea'Kalst even has the slightest of clues as to how to purposefully use it…"
"I thought you were all about brute force? Look at yourself, overthinking it, just drop down on the dastard and start hacking away, grab him with your chains and drag him onto shore, you have already slaughtered all of his worshippers anyways, surely you are not afraid that you will get blasted and defeated in one hit, mmh? He may be strong, but I doubt he can do the job a falling star could not in a single blow" puffing her chest, Hartracite found it unbelievable that the one who defeated her would be afraid of an oversized crab.
Herlbe stayed silent as his three main heads looked at one another, the two besides the central one rarely ever expressed themselves independently, but this time, they did.
"Very well, Tsarina Delelgoliol'Erstvourst Von Hartracite- You haven't been using much of your abilities since joining the superior side, have you? I would like you to scrape clean all that vegetation and dirt on his back with a falling star, but only if you think you are capable of it, of course…"
"Big oaf, your way of provoking me is as unsubtle as it can get, but very well" standing up, she once again manifested a floating stone platform for the two of them and rapidly flew through the calm skies until they finally spotted the crab of the hour, as per usual, Pangea'Kalst was casually living his life, something he had been doing for at least a few centuries by now.
Born a fledgling and pale crab alongside his countless siblings, as was often the case with his kind, the majority of them did not live to see adulthood, in fact, the tsar was the only one to achieve so, as a monster that was the prey of many others, he mostly went by thanks to his pale carapace, result of an unknown illness, which deterred predators from wanting to get anywhere close to him, and as he aged and devoured, his carapace gained its natural colours, a dark orange, but by now, he had grown experienced and cunning, nothing managed to get its teeth or tentacles around him.
The more he ate and lived, the larger he got, eventually reaching sizes that none of his other brethren had ever achieved even with more time than him, Pangea'Kalst was special, growing so tall that few areas of the okean could hide him from the surface, but it didn't matter, those who could challenge him were few, and none took the risk.
With the top of his body hanging out above the waters, without him even realising it, life blossomed and soon, he became akin to a landmass, the natural adversity brought by the fact that this supposed continent was a living being led the more intelligent monsters to begin worshipping the soil they lived upon, believing that it could calm the earth and prevent any further calamities.
This only led to the tsar growing even beyond his limits, becoming so gigantic that different parts of his body experienced different seasons and weathers, so large that now, there was nothing left that could challenge him, he had become too titanic, too powerful, too resilient.
The okean had seen the birth of the first and only creature that was predator to all and prey to none.
It had been so for a long time now, his offsprings populated the okean en masse as the females would lay their eggs directly upon the spikes of his legs, the younglings grouping up to him until they grew big and strong enough to fend for themselves.
The okean was unforgiving, but still, his kind's presence had grown leaps and bounds.
Surrounded by naught but wide spans of pressurised waters, the heavy sounds of distant bloops reaching him from time to time, things out of the ordinary were quickly noticed…
He did not budge, even as a white star crashed up his back, blasting away the dirt that had formed and exposing his carapace for a second star to strike him, but once more, Pangea'Kalst did not move, for there was no pain to be felt, his carapace only bore rapidly disappearing scorch marks that failed to penetrate deep.
Only after a few moments, did the ruler of the sea decide to act, allowing his legs to stretch to their true length as his figure rose from the water, this simple act causing widespread oceanic calamities.
"Did he do that last time you tried to murder him?"
"He did not"
As it turns out, Pangea'Kalst was actually bending his legs the entire time to remain just barely at the surface, as his true height easily allowed him to stare Herlbe in the eyes as he stood upon the floating stone platform.
His mouth looked a bit like mandibles in the way that each of the four parts seemed capable of moving individually, his eyes appearing empty of all thoughts.
Ignoring Hartracite completely, one of his pincers seemed to just appear and attempt to cut Herlbe in two, a near miss.
'Not intelligent, not intelligent you say…'
"Looks like he has deemed me a threat" commented the revenant, already summoning his great cleaver and latching it onto his lengthy chain.
"You, my friend, you will make for an excellent member of our empire"
Pangea'Kalst was even larger than The Graveyard after all, and that wasn't a record that was easy to break, the empire had many giants and titans, many of which were already hard to fathom.
Herlbe could already imagine the tsar carrying a bastion upon his back, or even simply swinging his pincers at unsuspecting livings as they wouldn't even be capable of seeing the body these limbs were connected to.
But first, the minor lord needed to kill the tsar, he was already feeling the rush coursing through his putrefied flesh and rotten bones.
