Perfect Villain Life: Universal Job Change

Chapter 96

Chapter 96: Rising to the Top

“Would you be interested in a position in the Imperial Capital?”

Hearing these words, Wang Minghui felt like he was floating. Of course, he was interested! A transfer at his rank to the capital’s Security Council could place him in the standing committee, or, if transferred to the Ministry of Supervision, as Chief Inspector of one of the bureaus.

Though the position might seem comparable to his current role as Provincial Security Director, the authority it held would be on an entirely different level.

The opportunity to oversee and audit the Empire’s security, law enforcement, and inspection systems would elevate him to someone with real influence, someone whose name could make waves beyond Jiangnan Province.

More importantly, a transfer to the capital would open up his path to higher ranks. In the province, his role as Security Director was essentially the end of the line; only the Governor or Deputy Speaker held more power.

However, in the Ministry of Supervision, there were still positions above Chief Inspector, like Director of Supervision, Chief Inspector General, and even Deputy Minister.

Ecstatic, Wang Minghui was about to blurt out his willingness but held back. His instincts told him to play it safe. Bowing respectfully, he said, “It is all up to you, Young Master Qin. From now on, I am your loyal servant, ready to go wherever you wish.”

At this declaration, the onlookers shot him side glances—So shameless? Yet Qin Xian’s expression softened with a smile. People of his status knew exactly what these flatteries meant, but he appreciated men like Wang Minghui precisely because they were pliable.

Anyone who could set aside dignity for allegiance could be trusted to carry out the less savory tasks.

Before Qin Xian could respond, his phone rang. Seeing the name Chu Junzhang, he raised an eyebrow.

She had left the Broken Heaven instance suddenly, and Qin Xian was cautious of her—this mysterious senior was advancing at nearly his own pace within the instance, making her a curiosity.

“Qin Xian, don’t forget our agreement,” came Chu Junzhang’s gentle yet cool voice over the phone.

“Don’t worry. I promised, so I won’t go back on my word.”

“I’ll be heading to the Void Front soon,” she continued, “and once I return, I’ll be counting on you, Qin Xian.”

After a brief conversation, they hung up, and Qin Xian turned to find Wang Minghui eagerly awaiting him. With a slight nod, he said, “Director Wang, I’ll arrange for you to serve as Chief Inspector of Second Department Bureau in the Ministry of Supervision.”

“I’ll speak to Minister Sheng and the Imperial Personnel Department on your behalf.”

Chief Inspector of Second Department Bureau  in the Ministry of Supervision!

Wang Minghui nearly fainted with joy. Familiar with the inner workings of the Ministry, he knew that Bureau Two was responsible for overseeing the entire Imperial Capital—a position of immense power.

Stammering with excitement, he bowed deeply. “From this day forward, I am at your service, ready to give my all!”

As Qin Xian resumed his walk, the onlookers were left awestruck. The magnitude of Qin Xian’s influence was overwhelming; in a single sentence, he could elevate a man’s position to the top.

Deng Juncai looked enviously at Wang Minghui—this truly was a meteoric rise. Yet, though tempted by Qin Xian’s favor, he still had his pride. His years in the military and the police had instilled some principles he couldn’t ignore.

Soon, they reached the teleportation array that Wang Minghui had cleared for Qin Xian’s exclusive use.

Standing in the center of the array with Qin Li and his entourage, Qin Xian nodded to Wang Minghui. “Well then, Director Wang, I’ll see you in the Imperial Capital.”

“Safe travels, Young Master!” Wang Minghui bowed deeply as the array activated, enveloping Qin Xian and his group in white light until they vanished from sight. Even then, Wang Minghui held his bow.

“Old Wang, you can stand up now—Young Master Qin has left,” Deng Juncai muttered, patting Wang Minghui on the shoulder, finding the display of servitude almost embarrassing.

The other officials looked away, feigning ignorance, yet their thoughts were evident. Rising, Wang Minghui’s face was flushed with excitement, still half-dazed at the thought—Chief Inspector of Bureau Two!

Determined to cling to Qin Xian’s influence, Wang Minghui resolved to become one of Qin Xian’s closest allies. That would secure his future for good.

“Director Wang…” Deng Juncai addressed him with a note of respect, his casual use of “Old Wang” replaced with the formal title.

The change didn’t escape Wang Minghui, nor did the other officials present, who had caught onto Wang Minghui’s shift in status. He was, after all, now a member of the Qin family’s network.
