Percy Jackson - The Record of The Journey of a Mortal Who Become a God

Chapter 11: Chapter 11 - Hunter and Prey

Ikki took a deep breath to calm his excitement. With his senses, he could feel curious eyes watching him from somewhere, knowing he couldn't reveal his full power because of that. He devised a good plan to deal with the monsters around him with minimal effort.

He looked at the nearest one.

When the Minotaur was almost in front of him, his figure moved like lightning in the middle of the night.

It was so fast, like a simple blink of an eye, he disappeared and appeared dozens of meters ahead of it; exactly in front of the Minotaur, which noticed his sudden appearance and roared, not stopping its run and punching hard in his direction.

As the punch got closer and was mere centimeters away from Ikki, he leaned to the side, easily dodging. The punch passed him without touching him, and the Minotaur didn't stop, throwing another punch with its other fist, which he also dodged— With his reflexes, it was very easy to avoid attacks of this level.

After some failed attempts, the Minotaur seemed furious, and without delay, it attacked the demigod in front of it again, like a bull, throwing its punch that had just missed horizontally in his direction.

Ikki narrowed his eyes slightly, as expected from a monster. There was no calculation or consideration in its movement, its attacks were based purely on instinct. That's why they were fast and hard to avoid, but for him, it wasn't difficult at all.

However, he didn't choose to dodge the last punch. Gently raising his right hand, he stopped the horizontal punch that aimed to knock him away, calmly holding it. There was no impact or even a sound; it was as if the Minotaur's punch was a stone thrown into the ocean, its power disappearing without a trace in that ocean.

When he grabbed the monster's fist in front of him, Ikki complained in his heart about how weak it was. Before pulling the monster toward him and delivering a punch with his free hand with minimal force, his punch crushed the Minotaur's chest bones, creating a huge hole with a booming sound that echoed across the surroundings. Watching it explode into golden dust that stained his clothes, his eyes gleamed with a hint of pleasure.

Killing and smashing his enemies was so incredible!

His exchange of blows with the Minotaur was brief and gave enough time for Hades' three minions to catch up with him, accompanied by a small group of monsters running below them, flying.

He turned and faced them. The three Furies were flying in front of him. Alecto looked furious and had a murderous expression, the reason he could imagine, while her two sisters looked hesitant, glancing at the golden dust covering him and his casual stance. As if he hadn't just killed one of the most famous monsters in mythology.

"Be careful, sisters, it was this damn demigod who killed me." Alecto said venomously, looking at Ikki with great murderous intent, which he ignored.

He didn't pay attention to them but instead focused on the group of monsters below them. They looked like large black mastiffs with vicious and glowing red eyes. There were twelve in total, and their sizes varied. Some were as big as a grizzly bear, others as large as a rhinoceros, and what appeared to be the leader was even bigger than an elephant.

"These hellhounds have a much better appearance than the other ugly creatures…" Ikki thought, staring calmly at the group of monsters in front of him. He recognized the type of monster, thanks to the various descriptions Mr. Brunner gave about how he thought monsters should be, not those from the descriptive images in books.

A loud howl came from the leader of the Hellhounds, followed by growls from its companions, echoing across the hill. They stopped running and waited for the right moment to attack him.

Any normal demigod who saw this many monsters would almost accept that they were going to die or panic, but he was not a normal demigod...

"Hello, Ms. Dodds, how's life? Was it painful to die?..." Ikki waved casually at the Fury.

"Die, my dear!" The Fury of Hades growled, looking at Ikki with hatred, swinging her whip in his direction, aiming for vital parts of his body.

Ikki stepped aside and easily dodged the attack.

At that exact moment, one of the Hellhounds jumped in his direction from his right with its mouth open, trying to rip his head off with a bite. At the same time, the other Fury attacked with her whip from the front.

Like a dance, he took a step, dodging the Hellhound that passed through the air in front of him. Ikki took advantage of the chance and stretched out his arm, delivering an attack with his open palm to the middle of the monster's body. His attack was gentle but had incredibly powerful force. He sent the Hellhound yelping toward the Fury's whip, which struck it, cutting it in half and turning the hound into golden dust.

The death of one of their companions enraged the other Hellhounds, which charged toward him, with the leader being the only one not making a move.

Ikki jumped over the Hellhounds while spinning in the air and dodging the whip strikes from the Furies. With his flexibility, it was easy to evade the attacks in mid-air.

As soon as he landed, he attacked his enemies with the intent to kill.

With his speed, he closed the distance between him and one of the Hellhounds near his position in an instant. As he appeared next to the rhino-sized monster, he punched it, aiming for its neck. The attack hit squarely, causing a strong impact and making the sound of breaking bones echo in the area; the Hellhound turned to golden dust.

At the same instant, he spun and delivered a flying kick to another Hellhound that had seized the opportunity to attack him. This kick hit the canine monster's head, which didn't have time to mourn before its skull shattered and it turned to golden dust.

The remaining Hellhounds attacked him with bloodshot eyes, and he dodged their attacks with natural grace. It seemed as if he were dancing among these monsters. In the middle of his fight with them, the three Furies took many chances to attack him with their whips but missed each time.

He applied his understanding of close combat perfectly.

Close combat didn't mean just being there like an idiot waving swords or punching and kicking the enemy. A true martial artist constantly changed positions like an unpredictable shadow.

Any fighting expert would highly value footwork. If it were refined, one could land ten consecutive punches on the enemy without missing, or at least have high evasion skills. In general, the importance of footwork was likely even greater than that of attack techniques.

Over the years, although he didn't train in any specific martial art, he still practiced several movements from numerous fighting styles in his spare time to get used to controlling his body...

While the monsters attacked him, he dodged and exploited their flaws to hit their vital areas with his punches or kicks. Every attack was perfect and flawless; he was like an experienced hunter, exploiting every weakness shown by a beast.

After a minute at most, he had killed almost all of the Hellhounds. This shocked the Furies, who hadn't stopped futilely attacking him with their whips, and even made them fearful.

At this moment, in the middle of the battle, Ikki took a step to the side, dodging an attempt from one of the two remaining Hellhounds to rip a piece of his neck off.

He seized the opportunity and delivered a vertical kick to the canine monster's midsection, turning it to golden dust. After doing that, he jumped backward, doing a somersault in the air and landing a kick to the last Hellhound's head, killing it easily.

As soon as he landed, the leader of the Hellhounds, who had been observing him until now, attacked.

He turned and looked at the gigantic Hellhound coming toward him with its mouth open, drool dripping from its lips, ready to swallow him whole. With his other senses, he also detected one of the Furies preparing to attack stealthily.

The rain that hadn't stopped until now had soaked his entire outfit, and it had never eased. His long, illusory black hair, which shimmered dreamily, was completely wet, but none of these things hindered him.

As the canine monster was about to devour him whole, he moved.

He jumped very high into the air, enough to avoid the house-sized Hellhound. Just at that moment, as he had predicted, the stealthy Fury flew toward him with one of her claws ready to kill him.

The Fury tried to cut him in half with her claw, but failed due to his flexibility. He twisted his body upward, letting the claw pass just below his hair. He seized the opportunity, and in the air, after spinning once, he twisted his body in a way that his feet touched the Fury's back.

On top of the Fury, he used his hand and pierced her chest instantly, strengthening it with Qi to make it as sharp as a real blade before propelling himself off her body, which soon exploded into golden dust as he jumped.

Alecto screamed when she saw her sister die at the hands of this damn demigod.

Ikki didn't pay attention to her scream. Using the momentum he gained, he landed on the back of the other Fury nearby in an instant, striking her with his hand and decapitating Hades' minion. Then he used the momentum to jump directly above the giant Hellhound on the ground.

Alecto, still shocked by the death of one of her sisters, watched another one die. Fueled by rage and hatred, she swung her whip toward the demigod responsible for killing her two sisters.

Ikki's eyes gleamed calculatingly, and as the whip came toward him, he raised his arm and let it strike, wrapping around it. The strike made a loud slapping noise and tore the sleeve of his shirt.

Although the attack was powerful, he felt absolutely nothing. Not even a tickle. As the whip firmly wrapped around his arm, he yanked hard, pulling the last Fury toward him. Alecto could have let go of the whip, but she chose to take the chance to get closer to him and kill him with one of her claws.

When the Fury came close, he twisted his body and dodged her claw while delivering a wide kick right under her ribs, hitting her spine and breaking it into several pieces. The Fury flew like a bullet, crashing into the hill and bouncing back up.

This whole sequence of events happened in just a few seconds. To finish, when the Hellhound raised its head and jumped to bite him, Ikki contorted his body like a celestial serpent, dodging the canine monster's bite. He then used one of his arms to wrap around the Hellhound's enormous neck in an acrobatic manner, and at the end of the spin, he elbowed its head, creating a strong impact that echoed across the area.

The Hellhound turned to dust. Ikki landed gently on the ground, letting out a relieved sigh. Although he wasn't afraid due to his confidence in his strength, it was his first time fighting at a disadvantage, and he could still feel the adrenaline pumping through his veins.

At that moment, the rain suddenly stopped. He furrowed his brow and quickly climbed the hill—a bad feeling arose in his heart. He became concerned about his two friends and the mother of one of them. Had some monster attacked them?
