Our own hell; lord of the death trial

Chapter 8: 8. Last reserve

Hei Yue struggled along with them also, willing his strength to keep him, but it seemed futile, "just a few hours more" Emma whispered, leaning against a wall her eyes closed. She longed for the comfort of a bed and blankets, but knew she would not be getting it to soon. At the first sign of daylight, they all dozed off, after struggling with the desire to sleep the whole night.

They were back in the forests again, their eyes red from want of more sleep, their movements slow and sluggish. They clung onto their weapons feebly, their minds lost in the world of fantasies that had everything to do with sleep. Lily scrubbed her eyes, yawning heavily, while Emma tried to be strong about it. "We have to find a way out of this place quickly if we want to survive" she said. "Huh" Lily said not registering what Emma had just said, she yawned loudly again bumping into Kai who walked as though she was a zombie. "Sorry," she said to Kai "what were you saying?" She questioned Emma her head still foggy. They walked on for hours, their movements becoming brisk with time as the sleep fog had cleared from their eyes. They used the map to navigate their way, hastening their steps as evening crept in, with the sole purpose of leaving the island quickly.

Hei Yue heard a silent whistle, a strange foreboding tightening his chest as the forest sounds played like a movie on slow motion before his eyes. Emma paused, and he knew she felt it to. They all stood still, wondering whether to go forward or not when Kai was quickly pulled up a tree by a rope, a noose tightening around her neck. She kicked furiously struggling to get air down her lungs as Hei yue climbed up the tree to save her. She fell down on the floor holding onto her throat as she sucked in air while coughing. Three men dressed in black appeared before them with kantanas in their hands and their faces fully covered. Lily began running, while Hei Yue jumped down from the tree, picking up his sword, and holding firmly onto it as one of the men came after him. Their swords clashed, his own breaking into two the moment it came in contact with the mysterious mans own. He had felt a strange energy pulse through it, and knew they stood no chance against them. He moved to the side and bent low as the man lunged his sword at him, and kept dodging every attack that was aimed at him. Emma aimed a dagger at the fighter that had gone after Lily, but it only hit the fighter and landed on the floor. It turned for a slight moment and saw a ball of frost hanging above her hand. They all turned to face her, their sword pointed at her as they walked towards her, they encircled her, going around her, waiting for who would be the first to attack. She tightened her grip on her daggers and released it again, her hands were damp with sweat, her feet unsure. She widened the berth between both her feet and bent low, her face taut, her whole frame on alert, as beads of sweat dropped down her forehead. She studied the movements of the two by her side with her peripheral vision, and felt her heart race as she saw the one by her left move, they wanted to attack her simultaneously, and it made her nervous. They lunged their swords at her and she deflected it, knocking the sword off the hands of the one by her left and stabbing him with her dagger, she quickly turned around using both her daggers to hold of an attack as the other came after her from behind, and tried to strike her down. She received a blow to the head from the one before her and fell to the floor, their swords coming after her, she rolled to the left, dodging the first attack, and rolled to the right, dodging another one despite the slight dizziness she felt. She quickly executed a low sweep kick and fell one to the floor without thinking as her survival instinct kicked in. She infused her dagger with more power from her inner reserve and stabbed the one on the floor quickly, the next one came after her, his sword covered in fire. She tried deflecting an attack and was blown off her feet by his fist. Her dagger fell of her hands, her head aching as the world spun around her, Hei Yue ran to her aid, picking up her daggers from the floor which burned his hands, and going after the man. They struggled with each other, trying to overpower one another, when the man pulled of the cloth covering his face with one hand and smiled "you are strong, but you are no match for me" he said as he fisted his hand, a red energy coating it. He punched Yue in the belly, holding him in his tight grip as he dished out several blows on him. Hei yue let go of the daggers, as smoke rose from his burnt hands. Emma saw him laughing, as he was about to release the last blow, she formed an iced dagger and struck him at his side, fisting her arms as it cut him up from the inside. He let go of Yue -who fell limp on the floor- and held onto his belly as he spurted blood from his mouth, she tightened her fist the more, letting it cut him up totally before she let go."I'm fully spent" she said falling unconscious.
