Otaku Witch

Chapter 526: 418. Work it, Moon Rabbit_2

"Heh heh, I always feel Little Five, that you could be a good mother in the future."

However...

"Comrade original body, you and I are one and the same; I am merely a part of your attributes. Whatever I can do, you can do too, and even what I can't do, you still can,"

the Moon God said indifferently.

Dorothy: "..."

Well, this...

Although the two thought processes have differing character settings and personalities, they ultimately share the same consciousness, which indeed carries a sense of self-dialogue absurdity.

"Tsk, this Little Five is quite scheming."

Dorothy thought to herself, helpless to joke about herself any further after the Moon God's statement about their shared origin.

She simply stopped talking and instead turned her gaze towards the group of Moon Rabbits who were slowly rebuilding this Doomsday World.

It had only been two days since her last visit when she established the Moon Worship Cult, but there had already been significant changes in the spirits of these Moon Rabbits.

At the very least, the numbness of waiting to die in the face of doomsday had dissipated quite a lot. They might appear fatigued from the strenuous rebuilding efforts, but at least there was a spark in the eyes of most of them.

This was the power of hope, or to put it in layman's terms, their days were finally looking up.

She then sensed the surging Power of Faith within the Moon God once again.

No wonder during the end times, all sorts of cults run rampant. The rate at which this Power of Faith accumulates is like cheating; the beliefs harvested in just two days almost surpass what a regular world would in a year; everyone's prime quality herbs ripe for the picking.

Too bad this Power of Faith was drawn from the Moon Rabbits and could only be used for the Moon Rabbit World. She and the Moon God were merely temporary custodians of this power, standard wage workers.

This world was already dead, and normally, the dead cannot be resurrected; that is a universal natural law.

Even a race as powerful as the Witches could distort this law to a certain extent, but unless one reaches the Omnipotent Realm, such distortions would not be complete, only temporary.

Even for Witches, wanting to resurrect after death still requires the payment of a hefty resurrection fee. It's not that the Underworld has monopolized the resurrection rituals to make a profit, but simply because the cost of resurrection is indeed too vast.

With the power of Magic, Witches can now twist most of the universal laws. They can reverse life and death, control space-time, conjure something out of nothing, but there is one supreme law they are powerless against.

That is the conservation of energy, or to put it in more mystical terms, equivalent exchange.

All magic requires the consumption of Magic Power to be realized. Without Magic Power as the energy source, there would be no magic to speak of.

The essence of Magic Power is the Life Force of the world, the Creation Power, the Power of Creation and Transformation. It's the origin and foundation of everything in the Western Universe.

The Witches roam and battle everywhere to plunder the power of other worlds to satisfy the ever-growing demands of the Witch World.

This is similar to how countries in Dorothy's previous life scoured the earth for coal and oil.

Her previous world was just a small planetary world, insignificant in the eyes of the Witches, with limited resources, hence conflicts arose among nations over these resources.

The Western Universe, however, is vast and boundless. Any world within it could be a superb "Magic Power Mine," so the Witches only need to exploit other worlds externally and thus do not need to resort to internal competition or even civil war for the time being.

Er, I digress, let's get back to the issue with the Moon Rabbit World.

Witches can resurrect the dead because they have vast Magic Power resources to afford such consumption. They can use their immense resources to equivalently exchange for the miracle of resurrection.

However, it's quite clear that the Moon Rabbits don't have the same wealth as the Witches. They can't afford the miraculous expense of bringing a world back to life.

Now, everything that Dorothy and the Moon God Cult are doing to save the world is actually just preserving a world that is already dead and on the verge of "rotting," then using Necromancy to control the movements of the corpse, making it seem as though it has been resurrected.

That's all there is to it; it cannot be considered a true resurrection.

No matter how good the preservative methods may be, they ultimately have limits, and as long as the corpse isn't resurrected, the process of decay will never stop.

Presently, Dorothy's and the Moon God Cult's salvation plan is to use the massive Power of Faith as the energy source to animate this "corpse."

But achieving an advanced "revival of the dead" requires far more than just the Power of Faith, needing instead an immense amount of Magic Power or....

A World Core that is still lively and hopping.

As the name implies, that is the heart of the world, the world's heart, the source of the world's life force.

This object isn't actually that rare; after all, it is quite common in the Witch World, and you can buy it from any upscale shop, where if you have enough money, you can even request one to be freshly killed and delivered.

After all, conquering a new world guarantees at least one World Core in stock.

Not to mention that in the Witch World, it has already become possible to artificially manufacture and even mass-produce them.

Unfortunately, like houses, they are not rare, but ordinary people truly can't afford them.

Not to mention the impoverished Moon Rabbits, Dorothy herself can't afford them either.

However, the problem isn't too big, after all, the homebody witch has discovered the high affinity of Jade for the Power of Faith, and since Jade is rare in the Western Universe, they should be able to sell off some of the Moon Rabbit World's ample Jade reserves to buy an artificial World Core.

Nevertheless, if it were possible, Dorothy would rather not sell the Jade, as it is a native specialty of the Moon Rabbit World and is closely tied to the world's laws; large-scale mining could easily accelerate the decay of the world's corpse.

It's like wanting to replace the heart to resurrect the body, but not having enough money for a new heart. However, the body has a good kidney that matches that of a wealthy, critically ill patient who's willing to pay a hefty sum for it, so you actually go ahead and sell the body's kidney to get the money for a new heart. What a remarkable maneuver that is.

While logically feasible and probably acceptable to the Moon Rabbits, Dorothy, who is a bit of a perfectionist, doesn't really favor this approach.

She would prefer not to use such a sacrifice of health for resurrection unless it's absolutely necessary; she still hopes to perfectly resurrect the Moon Rabbit World when the time comes.

Okay, another reason is that she is, after all, the Dragon Witch and has a strong inclination toward hoarding wealth like a member of the Hamster Party; she wants to keep all the good stuff for herself and can't stand to waste it.

So, Moon Rabbits, work hard to earn the medical bills for your world.

The job that suits the Moon Rabbits the best would naturally be that of mercenaries, which fits with their war-torn racial attributes. Whether serving the Calamity Race as a Servant Army or other Races as temporary mercenaries, they can fetch a good price.

However, this group of Moon Rabbit Tribe is now Dorothy's Servant Army, and an army cannot serve two masters. Unfortunately, the homebody witch is quite poor and doesn't want to join the front lines as an Armed Witch, leading the Moon Rabbits to be clearly underutilized.

This makes Dorothy feel quite embarrassed; being poor herself was one thing, but dragging her followers down with her is another.

She indeed intends to lead the Moon Rabbits into the glorious property industry, where everyone could make money together, but since the group had just been established and hadn't received any orders yet, it was awkward.

"Are you here to gather the construction crew? I've already chosen some good candidates for you; they are promising seeds, capable of fighting and working. Sidwell is training them, and they can depart at any time," said the Moon God.

Being the same person, the Moon God instantly understood the purpose of her visit.

Dorothy, however, found it somewhat embarrassing.

"Even though we'd all agreed to move bricks together, our first job isn't a construction gig but rather our old trade as mercenaries," she said.

After all, she had adamantly assured Miss Moon Rabbit that she was a peace-loving person who just wanted to be a law-abiding civil engineering witch, yet now she had joined the Judgment Court and was putting on a quick-change act.

Tsk, it seems there are only mistaken names, not mistaken nicknames; indeed, I am a Clown.

.....Feeling guilty, the homebody witch....
