Chapter 430: Skybroke, Framing Medusa
"It's nothing." John shook his head, signaling to the others not to worry.
He turned to Gaka and asked, "Senior, if a person only has a heart left, can they still survive?"
The memory of what had happened in the secret chamber still sent a shiver down his spine.
"A heart?" Gaka looked puzzled for a moment, then said, "The soul is the most powerful thing in a person. If only a heart remains, survival is impossible."
"However, it's not absolute..." He paused, as if a thought had crossed his mind.
Gaka turned to John and asked, "Have you figured something out?"
John nodded and recounted his experience in the secret chamber beneath the ancient tree.
Gaka's expression turned serious, and he said, "It seems it's definitely that person."
"Who is it?" John quickly pressed.
Gaka glanced at him and replied calmly, "Skybroke. He was once a powerful being who merged with World-in-Hand. He fell into the hands of the Skybroke Vault, and his fate was unknown. I never expected him to still be alive, and that he would create this Underground City."
"Merged with World-in-Hand?" John asked, confused. "Is this Skybroke really that strong?"
Gaka thought for a moment before answering, "Very strong. But it's not about raw strength. It's about his potential. You, as The Overseer, should understand how difficult it is to merge with World-in-Hand."
John shook his head, clearly bewildered. He had never heard of merging with World-in-Hand and didn't understand what it meant.
"You don't know?" Gaka seemed surprised and explained, "Neither a Nine-Star powerhouse nor a Ten-Star Emperor is the most dangerous. The Overseer is the existence beyond The Heaven. If one can fully merge with World-in-Hand, there's a chance to create a world and become a Creator God."
Creator God?
John was familiar with the title.
The previous world—the one where The Heaven had been killed—had been created by a Creator God.
And that world had been crafted by a Creator God. John hadn't expected that The Overseer could also create worlds and become a powerful Creator God.
He felt a surge of excitement and asked eagerly, "How can one merge with their own World-in-Hand?"
Gaka shook his head and replied, "I'm not exactly sure, but there are many methods. For example, using a special treasure, a spiritual root of heaven and earth, or by comprehending the laws of other complete worlds."
As he spoke, he looked at John and continued, "It seems that you could achieve all three methods."
He pointed to the massive sword of The Immortals' inheritance and the Tree of Life nearby. "This is a supreme treasure containing at least thousands of powers of laws, stronger than my Sea God Trident. That Tree of Life is a spiritual root of heaven and earth. Also, the Initial World you were in, is a masterless world with the most complete powers of laws. Many powerful beings covet it."
John rubbed his nose and said helplessly, "Did I perfectly miss all the choices?"
Gaka smiled slightly and replied, "I was once an Overseer too. Merging with World-in-Hand is very difficult. What I've said are just prerequisites. As for how to proceed, it's something you have to comprehend on your own. I don't know the exact method. But I can sense that you are the Overseer with the greatest potential to merge with World-in-Hand."
John stared at his World-in-Hand, feeling lost. He didn't dwell on it anymore and changed the subject. "Is this Underground City the World-in-Hand of Skybroke?"
"No." Gaka replied seriously, "I suspect the entire Dark City is actually Skybroke's World-in-Hand."
"What?" John was taken aback.
Dark City was vast, divided into five zones, and it was even larger than the Endless Desert. If that were true, then Skybroke's World-in-Hand was unbelievably powerful—it seemed more like a small world of its own.
"Then why is he still alive with just a heart left?" John continued, now even more curious.
Gaka explained, "This guy is a madman. There's a rumor that the Law is incomplete, and he wanted to prove the Law with his own body, to complete The Heaven. In the end, he became a half-human, half-ghost entity, but that allowed him to merge with World-in-Hand. Unfortunately, he ended up in the hands of the Skybroke Vault."
"The Law is incomplete, proving the Law with his own body?" John murmured softly, a bit impressed by Skybroke's determination.
Buzz!
At that moment, a spatial fluctuation rippled, and Sini entered his World-in-Hand.
She looked a little flustered and said, "John, Yealper suddenly appeared and has surrounded this place, saying that someone among us trespassed into a forbidden area."
"This guy came back so soon?" John sneered, his expression calm.
Skybroke was indeed terrifying, but he had a fatal flaw—he couldn't leave the range of the ancient tree.
The remaining forces in the Underground City didn't scare John at all.
"Let's go and check it out," he said, a thought crossing his mind as he led the others out of World-in-Hand.
…
Outside the courtyard, a group of powerful figures surrounded them.
Leading the group was Yealper, his expression cold as ice. Enjoy more content from empire
Upon his return to Underground City, Yealper had learned that someone had broken into the secret chamber beneath the ancient tree—and worse, had disguised themselves as him.
This made him furious. The secrets of the ancient tree could not be discovered, and he had already decided to kill.
At that moment, John and the others appeared.
John saw Yealper, whose murderous intent was palpable, and approached him with a confused expression. He hurriedly greeted him, "Big Brother Yealper, what's going on?"
Yealper glanced at him coldly and replied, "Someone trespassed into a forbidden area."
"Who's so bold?" John feigned anger, saying, "Big Brother Yealper, tell me who did it. I'll help you catch them."
Yealper stared at him, his brow furrowed. His expression softened slightly. "What, wasn't it you all who did it?"
"Innocent!" John took a step back, his face filled with grievance. "We've always respected you. How could we do such a thing? And we've been here the whole time, never leaving."
Nearby, Immortal King swallowed nervously, looking at John with admiration.
If he didn't know the full story, he would have been completely fooled.
His master's acting was brilliant!
Yealper furrowed his brow and, for a moment, seemed unsure.
However, he was certain that this matter was somehow related to John and his group. The other people in Underground City didn't dare approach the ancient tree and didn't have the power to do so.
He continued, "John, I believe you, but can you guarantee that none of the people around you got close to the forbidden area of the ancient tree?"
"This...?" John hesitated, glancing at his companions. His gaze lingered a little longer on Medusa.
Medusa, who had been standing aside watching the drama unfold, felt a chill when she met his eyes. A bad feeling stirred in her heart.
"My lord," a soldier stepped forward, the leader of the guards stationed at the forbidden area. "That person likely has a Disguise-like ability. First, they disguised themselves as you, and after we discovered them, they turned into a golden giant serpent and fled."
A golden giant serpent?
John and the others all turned to look at Medusa.
"Me?" Medusa stammered, pointing at herself in disbelief. "No, no way. I've been here in the courtyard the whole time, I didn't leave!"
"Medusa, you ungrateful, despicable little rat!" John suddenly yelled, his face twisted with righteous fury. "Big Brother Yealper saved our lives, and you—knowing full well what you were doing—still broke into the forbidden area!"
Medusa froze, then quickly realized what was happening. She was so enraged she almost jumped up, cursing, "John, fuck your grandfather, you're slandering me!"
She finally understood. John was trying to frame her. The person who had trespassed into the forbidden area was most likely him.
Yealper's expression turned cold. He waved his hand, and the soldiers immediately surrounded Medusa.
"Wait." John quickly stepped in to stop them. "Big Brother Yealper, I'm also at fault here. I didn't keep proper watch. Medusa was probably just curious and entered the forbidden area. I'll personally make sure to punish him properly. Please, let him go this time."
"You... You..." Medusa pointed at John, feeling an intense wave of anger rise in her chest.
It was this bastard who caused all this trouble, and now he was pretending to be the good guy.
Yealper's expression remained frosty. He said, "Brother John, since this matter doesn't concern you, please don't interfere. Those who trespass into the forbidden area will be killed without mercy!"
The secrets within the forbidden area could not be allowed to be discovered by others. Medusa absolutely could not be spared.
But now it seemed that the relationship between him and John was somewhat delicate. It appeared that Yealper hadn't shared the secrets of the forbidden area with anyone else. With that in mind, as long as he was killed, everything would be resolved.
"Go!" Yealper ordered coldly, and his soldiers immediately charged forward.
"A bunch of idiots! Petrify!" Medusa, seething with rage, couldn't be bothered to explain. Her face changed, transforming into that of a woman. Spiritual power surged around her as she unleashed a soul attack.
The soldiers at the front froze in place, stunned, and were immediately petrified, turning into lifeless statues.
"Hmph, you think this little power can deal with me?" Yealper sneered, his eyes flashing with sharp light. He locked eyes with Medusa, and in an instant, he neutralized her attack.
The Heaven's laws!
John was stunned. Yealper's soul attack actually contained The Heaven's laws, and it was not weaker than his own.
These people were indeed extraordinary.
"Die!" Yealper bellowed. A heavy mountain-cleaving blade appeared in his hand. Despite only having one leg, his movements were unhindered as he swung the blade toward Medusa.
"Get lost!" Medusa's face turned grim. With a furious roar, she transformed into her true form—a massive golden serpent.
"Drawing the earth prison!" Her enormous body spun, forming a golden ring that trapped Yealper and his men in place.
She hissed angrily, "You idiots, it was that human who entered the forbidden area. He's trying to frame me!"
"Hmph, still trying to argue at this point? Brother John, you're still defending this scoundrel." Yealper glanced at John with a look of sympathy.
sigh He sighed, shaking his head with a pained expression. "It's a shame. You really have bad luck with people."
Yealper continued, "Brother John, I'm going to kill this bastard now. You have no objections, right?"
John quickly shook his head, his face full of righteous indignation. "This guy has indeed gone too far. Do as you wish."
