Chapter 16: Junior brother is the future son?
Fortunately, Gu Liuyun didn’t smile, but Nangong Chen felt even more awkward when he did.
Nangong Chen gave Gu Liuyun a stern look and asked deeply, “Who is this young disciple?”
Gu Liuyun arched his hands and replied with a smile, “I am Gu Liuyun. I’ve met Senior Brother.”
Nangong Chen scrutinized him, noting his cultivation level and the attire of a novice disciple, which immediately furrowed his brows.
“Why is an entry-level disciple with only Qi cultivation here?” He inquired.
This question echoed the sentiments of the elders in the hall. The main hall of the Taoist Palace typically housed higher-level disciples or inner family members who had begun their cultivation from a young age, possessing at least the strength of a fourth-stage Foundation Establishment cultivator. Having a beginner disciple in the hall, let alone in the council chamber, was unusual.
Initially, no one had asked, as their attention had been focused on Murong Qianxue. However, with Nangong Chen’s inquiry, they all wanted to know the explanation.
Gu Liuyun, calm, smiled and replied, “I came here with my Master.”
“Master?” The crowd was momentarily perplexed but quickly turned their gaze to Murong Qianxue, realizing the connection.
Nangong Chen chuckled lightly and said, “Junior Sister Murong, as a newcomer to the Taoist Palace, you might be unaware of the rules. Entry-level disciples are not allowed in the council chamber.”
Nangong Chen then turned to Gu Liuyun and calmly said, “Given your lack of knowledge regarding the rules, I will not impose any punishment this time. Please leave the hall immediately.”
Gu Liuyun was about to respond with a smile when Tianluan, seated at the front, spoke up unexpectedly.
“Unaware of the rules? Liuyun is my disciple, and my presence establishes the rules here!”
This statement caused a stir in the entire hall. The other elders, except for Venerable Tianxuan, were in shock. Even Venerable Tianlong looked at Tianluan in astonishment.
Some elders even stood up and asked, “Elder Tianluan, is he also your disciple?”
Tianluan, unfazed, replied directly, “Yes, is there a problem?”
One elder questioned further, “But didn’t you say before that you don’t accept male disciples?”
Tianluan remained composed and said, “I didn’t accept them before, but that doesn’t mean I will not accept them now.”
The elder continued, “My grandson wanted to be your disciple…”
Tianluan glanced at him and said, “I only accepted him, no one else.”
After saying this, Tianluan waved her long sleeves, turned around, and fixed an indifferent gaze on Nangong Chen.
“What’s your opinion on him being here?” Tianluan asked with a cold expression.
Nangong Chen broke out in a cold sweat. The invisible pressure from Tianluan made it hard for him to breathe.
“No, I… I didn’t know he was Elder Tianluan’s disciple. Please forgive my ignorance,” he stammered.
Tianluan snorted and lifted the pressure. The hall fell into silence, with only Nangong Chen’s heavy breathing.
Gu Liuyun couldn’t help but comment, “Wow, his master has quite an imposing presence, a real queen.”
Coughing, Venerable Tianxuan said, “Alright, since everything is settled, you may disperse.”
Though still with lingering questions, the group reluctantly left as the suzerain commanded. As Gu Liuyun turned to leave, he was suddenly caught by the collar by Tianluan.
“Where are you going?” Tianluan asked.
Gu Liuyun, looking perplexed, turned back and asked, “Didn’t the suzerain tell me to disperse?”
Tianluan raised a finger, gently tapped Gu Liuyun’s forehead, and said, “I told them to leave, not you.”
Gu Liuyun seemed confused momentarily, but then he glanced up at Venerable Tianxuan, smiling down at him. Venerable Tianxuan’s figure flickered, and he appeared right in front of them.
“Tell me, what’s the situation with this little guy? I noticed that the spiritual energy around him is exceptionally active,” Venerable Tianxuan inquired.
Tianluan dispelled the divine aura and revealed her exquisite form. She lightly brushed her flowing blue hair and said, “He will be the future prodigy of our Taoist Palace.”
“Prodigy?” Venerable Tianxuan was surprised, even though he was prepared. “Our Taoist Palace hasn’t seen a prodigy in thousands of years.”
Tianluan chuckled and said, “That’s because no one was worthy.”
Venerable Tianxuan furrowed his brows and looked at Gu Liuyun, asking, “Is he worthy?”
Tianluan patted Gu Liuyun on the shoulder and told Venerable Tianxuan, “Give it a try, and you’ll see.”
This conversation left Gu Liuyun and Murong Qianxue bewildered.
Murong Qianxue looked at the two in disbelief, then turned to Gu Liuyun.
“Junior brother… is he the future prodigy?”
Gu Liuyun was equally confused and turned to Murong Qianxue, shaking his head.
He seemed to say, “Don’t look at me. I don’t know either.”
In his previous life, even becoming a true disciple was considered rare in just ten years. He had never heard of a player becoming a prodigy.
Venerable Tianxuan stroked his beard, took out a diamond-shaped crystal, and approached Gu Liuyun, saying, “Child, extend your hand.”
