"I said, why don't you try separating the ground-state properties of all multi-particle systems, then introduce artificial particles, Devil Fruit particles, or a combination of both? Use Esmer's formula to adjust the parameters. Of course, the initial values should be replaced with this." Roja paused and wrote a number on Vegapunk's notes. "This should elevate your life design to a much more advanced level."
Vegapunk's hand froze as he processed Roja's words. Slowly, he turned to face Roja, disbelief etched across his face.
Those words were a revelation—precisely what he needed to break through his mental block. He hadn't expected the renowned White Dove Admiral to not only grasp the intricacies of his research but also provide a solution so far beyond his own comprehension.
"You… You understand my life design project? Are you a scientist as well?"
"I understand it, yes," Roja replied, his tone indifferent. "But I'm not interested in scientific research. I'm here to oversee the scientific division. Who would have thought I'd end up troubleshooting experiments instead?"
Roja's disinterest in research was genuine. He preferred to shape the world with his own strength, not through endless tinkering in a lab. After all, as he saw it, only those without the power to change the world directly relied on science.
Vegapunk studied Roja intently before speaking again. "If you have the time, I'd like to sit and discuss further. Your insights could inspire breakthroughs I'd never imagined. If your method succeeds, it will advance human knowledge by at least a thousand years!"
Without another word, Vegapunk turned back to his workstation. Following Roja's advice, he began isolating the multi-particle systems and injecting Devil Fruit particle sequences into his life design. The machinery in the laboratory whirred to life as the experiment progressed.
Within moments, a humanoid figure began forming inside the nutrient tank, rapidly developing from infancy to adolescence. Suspended in the solution, the figure curled into a fetal position, obscured by the liquid's density.
The numerical values displayed on the monitors remained stable, confirming success.
"It worked!" Vegapunk exclaimed, his voice tinged with astonishment. "Using your method, it actually succeeded! This is unprecedented—a human capable of surviving the sea while wielding Devil Fruit abilities!"
He turned to Roja, his expression one of gratitude mixed with awe. "Thank you for guiding me at that critical moment. Without you, it might have taken me years to achieve this. To think someone could surpass even me in intellect…"
"There's always someone stronger or wiser out there," Roja replied calmly. "For what it's worth, I don't support human cloning or experiments like this. Minimize these practices in the future."
Vegapunk nodded, his expression contemplative. Roja approached the nutrient tank, summoning his talisman powers. With precision, he shattered the glass, allowing the nutrient solution to spill out. Swiftly, he enveloped the artificial girl in a Marine Justice cloak, ensuring no one could glimpse her form.
Vegapunk frowned in confusion. "Why save her? She's merely a test subject. Shouldn't we extract the data and move on?"
Roja glanced at him sharply. "Even an artificial human has the right to see the sea and the sky."
The simple statement silenced Vegapunk. For the first time, he seemed to question the ethical implications of his work. After a moment, he sighed. "Fine. Erase the experimental data. This attempt will remain an anomaly."
"As you wish," Roja replied nonchalantly. Before departing, he systematically destroyed the data and experimental materials, ensuring they couldn't be replicated without Vegapunk's intervention.
Holding the unconscious girl securely, Roja gestured for Vegapunk to follow. As they moved through the collapsing laboratory, Vegapunk floated behind Roja under his talisman's power.
"Vegapunk," Roja asked, "how much of your life design depends on the lineage factor?"
"A quarter," Vegapunk replied.
"So that traitor stole a quarter of your work, then?"
Vegapunk chuckled. "You've done your homework. But I don't mind. If he doesn't innovate, his stolen knowledge will soon be obsolete. What I'm working on now is leagues beyond that—a crystallization of wisdom at least a thousand years ahead of its time!"
Roja smirked, glancing at the girl cradled in his arms. "A thousand-year crystallization, huh? Let's see how special you really are."
"What Devil Fruit powers did you use for this experiment?" Roja inquired.
Vegapunk hesitated. "The fruit's sequence was extracted and rendered inert. Its powers now reside solely within her."
"So, what were its abilities?" Roja pressed, clearly unimpressed by the scientist's tendency to overcomplicate.
With a sigh, Vegapunk admitted, "It was the Mythical Zoan, Bird-Bird Fruit, Model: Azure Phoenix—a top-tier fruit of the highest rarity."
Roja raised an eyebrow. Such a powerful fruit was a rare resource. If the outside world knew it had been used in an experiment, the outcry would be deafening.
Meanwhile, the laboratory continued collapsing around them, toxic gas and debris filling the air. Yet none of it could penetrate the protective barrier Roja had created, keeping the chaos three meters away from them.
Outside, Sentomaru efficiently coordinated the evacuation, ensuring most of the researchers escaped unharmed. Still, his heart remained heavy as he glanced at the crumbling structure.
"Admiral White Dove… he's still inside," Sentomaru murmured, glancing at Perona, who floated nearby, arms crossed and visibly annoyed.
"That guy's too stubborn to die," Perona snapped, though her tone betrayed concern.
Sentomaru nodded. If anyone could emerge unscathed, it was the White Dove Admiral.
