Earth Land, Fairy Tail

...

...

The Zonia Alps, a mountain range that straddled the border between the Northern Continent and Ishgar.

Legends spoke of man-eating Demons and dragons lurking in its peaks, making it a desolate and sparsely populated region.

A bright, clear, azure sky stretched overhead, the golden sun casting its scorching rays upon the barren landscape.

In this desolate land, Ian walked calmly, his steps measured, his gaze deep and serene. He had arrived in the World of Fairy Tail.

He continued his unhurried pace across the barren landscape until he reached a small, isolated pavilion. There, he stopped, gazing out at the vast, imposing mountain range.

There was nothing here. Or rather, there was nothing here yet. No signs of human life.

This was the location of a Hundred-Year Quest:

Expedition to the Zonia Alps.

❁❁❁❁

A Hundred-Year Quest was a mission that had gone uncompleted for a century. Such quests were exceedingly rare in the world of magic, with only a handful in existence. Each one was notorious, steeped in a history of failure and death.

Countless mages had attempted these quests, only to fail, many losing their lives in the process. They were the most dangerous missions in the world.

Naturally, the rewards were also the highest.

Completing a Hundred-Year Quest would not only bring immense wealth but also instant fame, elevating both the mage and their guild to legendary status.

After all, a guild capable of completing a Hundred-Year Quest could surely handle any other commission. Their workload, and consequently their income, would skyrocket, bringing prosperity to all their members.

❁❁❁❁

"I've found you, Demon."

A deep, resonant voice broke the silence. Ian, expecting this, wasn't surprised. The tranquility wouldn't last.

Whoosh!

A burly, red-haired man with a scruffy beard appeared, a familiar figure. A wave of immense magical power emanated from him, far exceeding that of an S-Class mage. This was the power of a Wizard Saint.

In the entire Fairy Tail guild, only Gildarts Clive possessed power comparable to that of the guild master, Makarov Dreyar. The sheer force of his magic shook the very earth.

"…"

Ian's hair and clothes fluttered in the wind, but he remained rooted to the spot, a flicker of surprise in his eyes. The hallmark of a Wizard Saint's magic was its ability to alter the environment, causing the magical particles in the air and the earth to go wild.

"Gildarts? I just arrived from another world. I thought for a second that Shanks, had followed me here." Ian murmured.

Fairy Tail's strongest S-Class mage, Gildarts Clive, wielded the incredibly destructive Crush magic, capable of shattering anything he touched.

Almost every Wizard Saint possessed power on par with an Admiral or a Yonko. The Spriggan 12, in fact, likely surpassed them, as this world had actual gods.

Bathed in the golden light of Gildarts's magic, he spoke, his voice heavy with determination. "It's been years since I've hunted a Demon. This trip to the Zonia Alps was worth it. Now, return this land to humanity!"

Ian's expression remained calm as he met Gildarts's gaze.

"..."

Thud.

Gildarts moved.

He took a step forward, and the ground beneath him shattered, crumbling into cubes under the force of his magic. He accelerated, roaring as he channeled all his magic into his right arm.

Whoosh!

A massive magical circle, glowing with a brilliant white light, formed around Gildarts's arm.

"Haaaaahhh!"

With a series of earth-shattering roars, Gildarts charged towards Ian, his fist aimed upwards, ready to deliver a devastating blow.

He didn't bother with probing attacks. He knew that Demons, like dragons, possessed power comparable to S-Class mages, some even rivaling Wizard Saints. There was no need for a test of strength.

"Shattering Evil, Spreading Truth: Empyrean!"

Gildarts unleashed his ultimate attack, his fist radiating an overwhelming surge of magic, intending to blast Ian into the sky.

Just as Gildarts threw his punch, Ian moved. He calmly raised his right fist, which was now enveloped in a white aura, the power of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit.

Gildarts suddenly felt a sense of impending doom, but it was too late to change course. He focused his magic into his hands, activating his Crush magic.

Crack! Crack!

The space before his fist fractured, visible cracks spreading through the air.

When Ian and Gildarts's fists collided, Gildarts's magic was instantly suppressed.

Ian's fist, however, surged with an even greater, more terrifying power, an abyss of magical energy that clashed with Gildarts's own.

BOOM!!

The world seemed to distort. This was a clash between two Wizard Saints, a battle that warped the very fabric of reality. The magical particles in the air went wild, creating a maelstrom of energy.

BOOM!!

Ian stood his ground, his fist locked with Gildarts's. The Fairy Tail mage, however, was pushed to his limit, his arm trembling under the strain. He had unleashed his full power, but he couldn't break through Ian's defense.

Ian added a fraction more force. Gildarts, unable to withstand the pressure, was sent flying backwards, his Crush magic shattering against Ian's Tremor power.

Bang!!

Gildarts crashed to the ground, skidding back several meters.

"It's rather rude to attack without warning, don't you think?"

Gildarts, picking himself up, grinned.

"Take-Over magic, huh? I know a little girl in our guild who can also wield Demonic power. And it seems you can also use a power similar to my Crush, a tremor-based magic."

Take-Over magic, Ian knew, allowed the user to absorb the powers of Demons and other creatures, even gods.

It was similar to the Zoan Devil Fruits of the One Piece world, particularly the Mythical and Ancient Zoans.

Along with Spirit Magic, Dragon Slayer Magic, and God Slayer Magic, it was one of the more common types of magic in this world.

"But I won't lose so easily, kid!" Gildarts declared, his body once again surging with magic as he charged towards Ian.

Ian sighed. This man was a battle fanatic. He probably couldn't sense that Ian was far stronger than him. Still, he was a good-natured person, just eager to test his strength against a worthy opponent.

"Fine. I'll give you a little taste of the difference in our power." Ian muttered, shaking his head.

Gildarts was on the move again.

Having been repelled by Ian's superior magic, Gildarts had shed his cloak, his body now radiating a golden aura of power. He charged towards Ian, the ground beneath him shattering into a grid of cubes, the effect of his Crush magic.

Gildarts, now within two meters of Ian, raised both hands, his magic surging. A massive, intricate magic circle materialized before him.

"Shattering Evil, Spreading Truth: Absolute Destruction!"

Gildarts roared, unleashing his ultimate attack. But Ian…didn't even flinch. He simply raised his right hand.

BOOM!

He casually punched forward, a seemingly effortless blow devoid of any visible magical energy.

But in that instant…

The upper half of Gildarts's magic circle fractured, cracks spreading across its surface. Gildarts's eyes widened in shock.

He tried to maintain the circle, but it was futile. It shattered into countless shards of light.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

The backlash from the shattered magic circle sent Gildarts stumbling backwards.

"A single… punch?"

Gildarts stared in disbelief. Then, he noticed it.

In the distance, several kilometers away, the barren mountains had been cleaved in two, a perfectly smooth cut separating the peaks.

A single punch…had split a Mountain Range.....

"…"

Gildarts's mouth hung open.

As Gildarts stood there, stunned and speechless, Ian turned to him, a calm expression on his face. "Shall we end this now?"

"I… I'm still far from my peak." Gildarts muttered, a flicker of his old memories returning. He vaguely recalled Makarov mentioning that dragons could effortlessly destroy mountains with their breath, and that certain ancient creatures possessed similar power.

This Devil before him wasn't just any Demon. It wasn't a Demon from the Books of Zeref. It was a True Devil.

...

...

He looked up, and there it was. A massive black dragon with intricate markings, perched atop the Zonia Alps, its claws tearing through mountaintops as if they were made of butter.

'ROARR!!!!!!' The Dragon's roar echoed through the mountains.

"Is that… a real dragon?"

This creature's presence was overwhelming, terrifying. Dragons were mythical beings, possessing power that bordered on the divine. If it weren't for historical records, most people would have dismissed them as legends. But this… this was no legend.

Gildarts, recognizing the dragon, couldn't help but exclaim, his voice filled with disbelief.

"That's the Black Dragon of the Apocalypse… Acnologia! Why is it here?"

A dragon capable of destroying entire nations.

Gildarts's face paled. He had no chance of surviving an encounter with such a creature. He felt a surge of fear. He wanted to run, but he knew it was pointless.

The dragon roared again, its power seemingly limitless. Gildarts trembled. This was far beyond any dragon he had ever imagined. Was this the Dragon King?

"Is it finally here?"

Ian, hearing the roar, wasn't afraid. He had no idea whether Acnologia was truly the strongest being in this world, but he knew that it was a creature that had ended the reign of dragons, a being of immense power. And he had come to this world…specifically for Acnologia.

Though he knew this wasn't the same Acnologia from his memories, he wouldn't run.

"So noisy…"

Ian, his face pale and cold, stared at Acnologia, who was perched atop the Zonia Alps, roaring and smashing mountains with its claws. A wave of immense spiritual pressure, combined with his Conqueror's Haki, erupted from him.

The Dragon King, Acnologia, suddenly stopped its roaring. Its massive head turned towards Ian, its gaze, which could devour worlds, fixed upon him.

"Hey, kid, run! This is the Dragon King that can destroy the world! Even with your Devil powers and various magic, you're no match for him! He can devour any kind of magic!"

Gildarts yelled, fear gripping his heart. He was even prepared to sacrifice himself to buy Ian time to escape. He was certain he would be killed, but Ian might have a chance.

"Run? I came here just for him.... So tell me Why would I run?"
