Chapter 72: 72. Duel of Giants and Unfolding New Threats
Chapter 72: The Duel of Giants and Unfolding Threats
The sounds of Little Garden's primeval jungle were replaced by the deafening roars of two towering warriors. Dorry and Broggy, the giants of Elbaf, stood a hundred paces apart, their weapons gleaming under the harsh sunlight. The forest around them fell silent as if the very island itself held its breath for the spectacle about to unfold.
Dorry tightened his grip on his massive battle-axe, the blade stained with years of wear but still sharp enough to cleave mountains. His crimson beard, braided and adorned with iron rings, swayed in the breeze. His eyes glinted with both respect and anticipation as he sized up his rival.
On the other side of the clearing, Broggy raised his broadsword, the enormous weapon balanced in one hand like it was a feather. His shield, almost the size of a small house, bore the scars of countless battles. The hulking blue-haired giant let out a booming laugh, his voice rich with camaraderie despite the tension.
"For the glory of Elbaf, Dorry!" Broggy roared, slamming his sword against his shield. The sound reverberated like thunder, startling nearby dinosaurs into scattering.
"And for our eternal duel, Broggy!" Dorry bellowed in reply, his voice a fierce echo of his friend's.
With no further warning, the two giants charged at each other, the ground shaking beneath their titanic strides.
Dorry swung his axe in a mighty arc, aiming directly for Broggy's shoulder. The wind howled with the force of the blow, but Broggy's shield rose just in time. The axe met steel, sending sparks flying in every direction as the clang of metal rang out like a battle horn. Broggy countered with a quick thrust of his sword, the blade streaking toward Dorry's midsection.
Dorry twisted his body with surprising agility, the sword missing him by inches. He retaliated immediately, stepping in close and bringing his axe down again, this time toward Broggy's legs. The blue-haired giant leaped back, his shield absorbing most of the strike, though the ground beneath him cracked under the force.
"You'll have to do better than that, old friend!" Broggy taunted, grinning widely.
"You'll see just how much better I've gotten!" Dorry retorted, his laughter echoing through the battlefield.
The duel continued with an almost rhythmical cadence. Each swing of a weapon, each clash of steel, each grunt of exertion was a symphony of power and skill. They moved like ancient dancers, each step precise, each strike calculated. Despite their massive size, both giants displayed a level of agility that defied expectations.
Dorry feinted to the left, drawing Broggy's shield up, only to spin and swing his axe low. Broggy barely managed to block with his sword, the impact sending vibrations through his arm. Seizing the moment, Broggy lunged forward, his sword slicing through the air toward Dorry's chest. The crimson giant ducked and rolled to the side, his axe already swinging upward in a powerful counterattack.
Broggy threw his shield into the path of the axe, the blade biting deep into the metal but failing to break through. With a roar, Broggy slammed his shield forward, forcing Dorry to stumble back. He followed up with a downward slash, but Dorry sidestepped at the last moment, the sword embedding itself into the ground.
"Still too slow!" Dorry taunted, bringing his axe down again. This time, Broggy yanked his sword free and parried the blow in a shower of sparks.
The next exchange began with both giants breathing heavily, their movements slowing but no less powerful. Dorry charged with a feral roar, his axe held high. Broggy braced himself, raising his shield and sword. Their weapons collided with such force that the ground beneath them caved, sending shockwaves rippling outward.
Dorry swung again, his axe carving through the air toward Broggy's neck. Broggy ducked and countered with a horizontal slash aimed at Dorry's side. The crimson giant twisted his body, narrowly avoiding the blade, and brought his axe down in a crushing overhand blow. Broggy raised his sword to block, the two weapons locking in a fierce contest of strength.
For a moment, it seemed as if the earth itself held its breath. Then, with a final burst of power, both giants pushed each other back. They staggered, their weapons falling to the ground as they collapsed onto their backs, utterly exhausted.
"Well fought," Broggy said between heavy breaths.
Dorry chuckled, wiping sweat from his brow. "Aye, well fought indeed."
Broggy reached into his pack and pulled out two barrels of sake, handing one to Dorry. "Let's drink to another hundred years of battle!"
Dorry laughed as he accepted the barrel. "Not that I am complaining but where did you get the Sake?"
"A group of human pirates that arrived." Broggy answered.
"Oh really?" Dorry uttered. "I wonder if they are related to the groupnof pirates at my place?"
"Who cares, let's drink to Elbaf!!" Broggy said and raised his barrel for a toast. Dorry doing the same they shook their barrels and drank the sake.
When Dorry returned to his camp, his eyes fell upon the unusual sight of the three strangers. Goku sat cross-legged on a rock, his tail swishing lazily as he observed the giant. Vivi stood nearby, nervously holding Karoo's reins as the duck squawked softly.
"So," Dorry rumbled, setting his axe aside, "you're pirates? How was the fight?"
Goku stood, stretching as he grinned. "It was awesome. Every attack aimed at a vital spot."
Dorry squinted at him. "Aye, it be the way of Elbaf."
Vivi cleared her throat. "You are a unique crew," she said diplomatically.
But Dorry's attention was drawn to Goku, whose cheerful demeanor suddenly vanished. The Saiyan's face grew serious, his body tense. Even Vivi noticed the change and looked at him with concern.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
Goku frowned, turning toward the dense jungle. "I sense four Ki signatures… and they're not friendly."
Dorry raised an eyebrow. "Your Haki must be strong to sense them from here."
"Haki?" Goku asked, tilting his head in confusion.
"You don't know what Haki is?" Dorry looked genuinely surprised. "Then how are you sensing people?"
"It's Ki," Goku explained. "It's life energy. Everyone has it. I can feel it because it's unique to each person."
Dorry scratched his head. "Never heard of that. Haki isn't common in this part of the Grand Line. But it's everywhere in the New World."
"That's interesting," Goku said thoughtfully. "I can sense Sanji is near those signatures."
"Your Ki sensing… it's sharper than most Observation Haki I've seen," Dorry admitted. "Not many people can get that kind of detail."
"What's Observation Haki?" Goku asked.
Dorry explained, delving into the three types of Haki—Observation, which allowed one to sense others and predict movements; Armament, which enhanced physical attacks and defense; and a third, rarer type that he hinted was unique to special individuals.
Before they could continue, a small transponder snail in Goku's pocket began to ring. Picking it up, Goku answered, "This is Goku."
"I need you to confirm you identity," a female voice rung out nervously.
"I just fucking did!" Goku snapped. "Now get on with it!"
The female voice on the other end spoke, her tone sharp. "Mr. 0 has sent four agents to intercept your crew. Be careful."
"Agents?" Goku queried. "What kind of Agents?"
"This time he has sent number agents," the woman revealed. "Amongst the strongest in the entire organization."
"What about their abilities?" He proceeded to ask.
"Two of the agents you already encountered in Whiskey Peak, Mr 5 and his partner Miss Valentine. He has the devil fruit ability to turn any part of his body into explosives." She reported.
"Go on…" He encouraged.
"The other two are on another level. Mr. 3 and his partner Miss Goldenweek. Mr. 3 has the wax wax fruit and can make wax stronger than steel into any shape he wishes. As for Miss Goldenweek. She can manipulate your behavior through colour. Her paintings are basically like hypnotic transes. Their objectives are the two giants in little garden with prior bounties worth 100 million berry each. Getting rid of you and your crew is however the main objective."
Goku's expression darkened as the woman detailed the agents' abilities and objectives.
"Is that all," he asked after absorbing all the information.
"Just that Mr. 0 has sent the unluckies to bring an eternal pose to Alabasta."
"Good job, keep it up" Goku thanked her.
When the call ended, he immediately contacted Sanji, instructing him to remain hidden and wait for the Unluckies to get there. Revealing all the information him about the Log Pose taking a year to reset on the island and how they will need the Eternal Pose to travel to Alabasta.
As Goku turned to Vivi, her angry glare caught his attention. "Who was that woman?" she demanded.
"Miss All Sunday," Goku said flatly.
"The one who killed Igaram?" Vivi's voice trembled with rage.
"Yes," Goku admitted without hesitation. His calm, commanding aura kept Vivi from lashing out.
"We need to regroup with my crew," Goku said, striding off. Dorry, Vivi, and Karoo followed, the weight of their mission heavy on their shoulders.
