"Bring out the criminal, Morgan!"
At Luffy's command, Morgan, dressed in black-and-white striped prison clothes, shuffled onto the platform. Shackled hands and feet, his head covered by a black bag, he was escorted by several Marines.
His son, Helmeppo, was also among the accused.
"Kneel!"
The soldiers struck them with their gunstocks.
Helmeppo crumpled immediately, groveling on the ground in sheer panic.
Morgan, however, refused to kneel and spoke with a menacing tone:
"You think you can put me on trial?"
Luffy gestured subtly to Zoro.
Zoro unsheathed one of his swords, pressing the sharp blade against Morgan's neck.
A thin line of blood trickled from Morgan's throat, and though rage burned inside him, the former officer had no choice but to kneel in silence.
With that, Zoro withdrew his sword and stepped back, while the soldiers removed the prisoners' head coverings.
As sunlight hit their eyes, Morgan and Helmeppo blinked against its brightness. As their vision returned, they saw a sea of people glaring back at them, faces etched with anger and loathing.
"Kill him!"
Someone in the crowd shouted venomously:
"Morgan, your tyranny finally ends today! Three years ago, my sister accidentally bumped into you, and you beat her to death! Justice is coming for you now—thanks to Lord Luffy!"
Morgan scanned the crowd with cold eyes. Too many faces, too many voices. He couldn't tell who had shouted.
Unbeknownst to him, the first shouter was one of Luffy's planted provocateurs, meant to break the crowd's initial silence.
Hearing this, Luffy stepped in with perfect timing:
"Fear not, citizens! This trial is open to all voices—speak freely!"
The accusations began to pour out like an unstoppable tide:
"He's looted our money to build statues of himself!"
"He stole farmland, forcing entire families to starve!"
"He even demanded bribes from fishermen just to catch fish!"
"My son served under him but dared to criticize his corruption—Morgan murdered him without hesitation!"
Shouts of grief and anger echoed through the crowd, unleashing years of pent-up frustration. Some hurled rocks at Morgan, hitting him squarely in the face and drawing more blood.
"Death! Death! Death!"
The chant started quietly, then swelled to a deafening roar.
Morgan roared back, defiant:
"Silence! I am the authority here! As long as I hold power, I decide what's fair! You worms have no right to judge me!"
For a moment, the furious noise quieted.
Morgan turned to Luffy, snarling with disdain:
"You're just a whelp—a puppet of your grandfather! You think you can replace military law with this circus?"
Luffy's smirk widened, and he laughed openly:
"Morgan, I think you misunderstand something. The voice of the people is all the law I need. And you? You're nothing."
Without hesitation, he added:
"Shoot him."
Gunfire erupted.
Morgan's eyes widened in disbelief.
"You dare—?"
His words were cut off as bullets tore into his chest. Blood seeped through his striped uniform, pooling beneath him as he collapsed, eyes frozen in shock.
Only in that final moment did he realize the truth:
Luffy wasn't following anyone's rules but his own.
Helmeppo was paralyzed with terror. He knelt trembling, snot and tears streaming down his face:
"Don't kill me! Please! I'll—I'll do anything!"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Helmeppo crumpled alongside his father, dead before he could finish his plea.
The crowd stared, silent and stunned, before cheers broke out louder than ever:
"Luffy-sama! Long live Luffy-sama!"
Turning away from the still-roaring masses, Luffy glanced at his crew. His calm voice cut through the commotion:
"Let's go. Time to head for Cocoyashi Village."
