In the fields outside the village, Loya leaned against a large tree, constantly observing his surroundings to eliminate any potential dangers.

Not far away, Kaya was happily frolicking in the grass.

"It's been a long time since I've felt this relaxed."

Since setting sail, there hadn't been much training during the day. It felt like a fitness enthusiast who hadn't worked out for a day—his whole body felt out of sorts.

He felt the same way.

The pace of life at the branch was completely different from that outside; while it took some getting used to, he also appreciated the beauty of life.

Just like the scene before him.

Relaxed and pleasant.

If only Kaya were a bit older, accompanied by a cute little daughter, and they could pick flowers and chase butterflies together...

Loya imagined what life would be like ten years from now, an involuntary smile spreading across his face.

This must be happiness.

Kaya came over, tilting her head.

"You seem really happy?"

"Yeah, I was thinking about ten years from now."

Loya smiled, feeling a surge of motivation. Working hard was all about striving for a beautiful future.

"Ten years from now?"

Kaya looked puzzled, unable to understand what was so amusing about ten years in the future.

"You're such a strange person!"

"I think so too."

Loya laughed heartily.

Maybe it was because he had spent too long in the military camp; he had picked up a soldier's common flaw—he found even a sow attractive!

He was already thinking about names for his future children.

Kaya? Or maybe Keli?

Kaya sat down next to Loya, breathing a bit heavily after playing too hard. Realizing her fatigue, she curled up and wrapped her arms around her knees, shyly requesting: "Loya, can you tell me about the outside world?"

"Of course!"

As the employer's request, it had to be fulfilled!

Just as Loya was racking his brain to prepare an epic adventure story while boasting about his skills,

"Not good!"

"Pirates are coming!"

"Everyone, run for your lives!"

From the direction of the coast's jungle, a panicked boy rushed out, repeatedly shouting that "pirates have arrived."

Loya's expression changed instantly as he quickly stood up and positioned Kaya behind him with utmost seriousness: "Miss Kaya, please stay calm; I will protect you!"

"Ah, thank you."

Kaya clutched Loya's shirt nervously as she hid behind him.

When the boy reached their position, he immediately stopped and shouted in terror at them.

"Run for your lives! Pirates are coming!"

"Calm down!!!"

Loya shouted abruptly, instantly silencing him. He then pressed on with questions: "How many pirates are there? What does their flag look like?"

"This..."

Usopp was at a loss for words.

He had only been lying to scare the villagers for fun; in reality, there were no pirates at all—how could he know their numbers or flag?

Seeing the boy speechless, Loya realized he had overreacted. He hadn't expected that on their first day out, Miss Kaya would be thrown into danger—he couldn't help but feel anxious.

"I'm sorry for scaring you. I'm Loya from Branch 153. Please tell me any information you have about the pirates. Rest assured; we will protect West Rob Village!"

"Ah..."

Usopp became even more flustered.

The man before him was actually from the navy!

Oh no! He had only made a small joke; how would he get out of this? Would he be captured and tortured?

Just as Usopp nearly wet himself in fear, three armed and menacing figures burst out from the jungle toward the coast.

"Bro! There's definitely a village up ahead!"

"Haha! Good thing that little brat led us here."

They were pirates!

Upon spotting Usopp, the three followed him closely and indeed found the village. When they saw Loya and Kaya by the roadside, they immediately drew their long knives with malicious intent.

Perfect! They needed to gather intel on the village.

Loya took a deep breath and turned to see Kaya looking panicked. Given her physique, she wouldn't just be able to run away; even walking a few steps would leave her breathless.

He could carry her to escape but exposing his back to enemy blades would be foolish. Moreover, as a marine, he couldn't ignore the safety of West Rob Village's citizens.

With a gentle smile, Loya softly reassured Kaya: "Hide behind that tree and close your eyes. Count to one hundred. By the time you finish counting, everything will be over."

"Okay!"

Kaya nodded vigorously.

She was smart enough to know she couldn't help much and would only be a burden; not adding trouble for Loya was already her biggest contribution.

The girl hid behind the tree and closed her eyes to pray for Loya's safety.

Once Kaya was settled, Loya turned to Usopp who still looked terrified and commanded in an undeniable tone: "Kid! I'll hold them off; you need to warn the villagers to take shelter. Then go to West Rob's estate and find a marine named Fullbody."

There might be more pirates; they had to prepare for the worst-case scenario.

"Ah! I understand!"

Usopp hurriedly ran away. He hadn't expected real pirates would show up; fear quickly consumed him.

Run far away!

Seeing Usopp flee made the pirates quicken their pace in pursuit. If they let him warn the villagers, their mission could go down in flames!

But one figure stood in their way.

Loya stood alone in the middle of the road and coldly asked: "Who are you?"

"We are from Black—"

"Shut up! Do you want to get killed by our captain?!"

One pirate attempted to answer but was immediately silenced by another who didn't want their pirate crew revealed.

They were scouts!

Loya quickly realized this fact.

The stronger pirate crews prepared thoroughly before plundering; after all, many villages were so impoverished they couldn't afford food—where would they find wealth for looting?

Pirates wouldn't want to engage in fruitless efforts either.

Sending scouts for intel was standard practice among large pirate crews; it allowed them to gather information on multiple islands' wealth quickly and choose targets that were most suitable for attack.

Catch them alive!

Loya quickly made up his mind.

The trio of pirates also realized that Loya wasn't someone to mess with. They exchanged glances without making any noise and quickly reached a consensus.

"Take him down!"

The three charged at Loya simultaneously with their long knives aimed at his neck, waist, and head—all with cunning angles.

Though they hadn't received formal training, years of living on the edge had honed their ruthless instincts unique to pirates!

Facing their attacks, Loya remained calm and collected as his mind automatically mapped out evasion and counterattack routes.

Loya took half a step back as knife tips slid past him. He kicked out with his left foot, sending one charging pirate flying while grabbing another's wrist holding a knife with lightning speed.

Simultaneously halting all three pirates' attacks!

"Crack!"

With forceful strength in his palm, Loya snapped the pirate's wrist with an audible crack before using that pirate's body as a projectile against another pirate standing nearby—knocking him down flat on his back!

"You bastard!"

The leader of the pirates angrily shoved aside his fallen comrade. Just as he tried to get up again, he felt a sharp blade pressed against his head with a crisp buzzing sound ringing in his ears.

His body froze in place.

"98... 99... 100."

Behind the tree, Kaya counted quietly until she reached one hundred.

When she opened her eyes carefully from behind the tree trunk, she saw all three pirates tied up together with bruised faces—they had clearly taken quite a beating!

"Hey!"

Loya sat casually on a nearby rock with one leg crossed over another while smiling at Kaya cheerfully as if nothing had happened.

"How did I do?"

"Mm!"

Kaya clutched her chest in amazement.

So impressive!
