One Piece: Signing In as a Pirate Begins with Roger's Execution

Chapter 71: Chapter 71: Capone Bege

As Sakazuki, Kuzan, and Saul continued to argue over whether they should report Karl's "desertion" to Sengoku, Karl was already holding his breakfast, clutching a log pose, and heading toward Ohara.

"The only reliable ones in the Marines are Kuzan and Saul. The rest of them aren't much help. But with the two of them providing cover, it should be enough. The real problem now is figuring out how to move everyone. Once I'm at Ohara, I just need to leave some bait and guide Spandine into issuing the extermination order.

Even though that will still mean Ohara gets destroyed, at least it'll be better than everyone getting slaughtered."

Karl thought for a long time, and the only viable plan he had at the moment was this one.

While there were other, riskier methods, sneaking around to rescue people would be less noticeable.

But there was one condition: Karl needed to find a large enough ship or island to carry all the people of Ohara.

However, he was unfamiliar with the area. Karl had no idea which islands were uninhabited. If rescuing them meant disturbing the lives of those already living on other islands, it would be defeating the purpose.

As for returning to the East Blue and finding an uninhabited island, that would be easier. After all, the East Blue was Karl's home turf, and he knew where all the uninhabited islands were.

But making that round trip would take at least four days, and by then, Ohara would have already sunk.

So Karl had no choice but to make do with the islands nearby.

As he flew towards Ohara, Karl kept an eye out for nearby islands.

Most islands, however, had people living on them.

He did spot one island that seemed uninhabited, but it was covered in sulfur and had a small active volcano. Although the volcano wasn't large, it was clear that the island was unsuitable for survival.

Karl had to look elsewhere.

Soon, Karl spotted a black ship.

It didn't look like a pirate ship, but it was heavily armed, with more than ten cannons visible on the deck.

The setup was even more impressive than that of the Marines, but there was no pirate flag—just a strange black banner with an intricate design. Karl couldn't make sense of the pattern, but it was clear that this was no ordinary merchant ship.

"I'll land and take a look. Maybe I can find out if they know of any uninhabited islands," Karl muttered as he wolfed down three servings of breakfast, then flew towards the mysterious ship.

Meanwhile, aboard the ship, the crew, all dressed in black suits, moved with precision.

The man standing at the bow was tall and menacing, with a dangerous look and a slick back hairstyle typical of a boss, along with a cigar hanging from his mouth.

His demeanor screamed "boss material."

"Boss Bege, is this your first time at sea? Shouldn't we head back a bit? Some people like to enjoy the sea and the breeze on their first trip, but as the new leader of the Capone family, you should be more cautious. The sea is too dangerous, especially with all the pirates and the Marines around. Our Capone family is small, so it's better to stay close to shore for now."

"Oh? So, you're saying I'm weak?" Capone Bege responded.

"No, no! I didn't mean that at all, Boss!" the man stammered, trembling with fear and daring not to say another word.

Capone Bege shot him a cold glance, casually drawing a finely crafted silver pistol.

With a bang, a bullet hit the man between his legs, knocking him out cold.

"Pathetic."

Capone Bege shook his head, holstered his gun, and gave a look to another man nearby.

"Drag him away. If anyone speaks to me like that again, next time, I won't miss. I, Capone Bege, don't need anyone teaching me how to do things!"

"Understood!" the other man replied sympathetically, stepping forward to carry the unconscious man away.

"The sea is the romance of a man, especially with those words of Pirate King Roger. They stir my blood. Though the Mafia has four major families, I'll eventually absorb them all. When that day comes, I'll be ready to sail out!"

Capone Bege smirked, taking a deep puff of his cigar, his smile cruel and cold.

He was once part of the same generation as Luffy, a rising star, and his personal strength was impressive.

Even in his fully enlarged form, he could withstand two attacks from one of the Four Emperors, Charlotte Linlin.

But for now, he had no Devil Fruit powers and was still just a regular human.

"I hear you're going for the title of Pirate King? Do you know what I said at the execution platform?"

Just as Capone Bege was lost in his thoughts about the sea, a young, magnetic voice suddenly spoke beside him.

"Who is that?!"

Capone Bege reacted instantly, his hand shooting to his chest, ready to draw his gun.

But at that moment, an overwhelming presence erupted from beside him.

Everyone on the deck, except Capone Bege, collapsed unconscious.

Capone Bege was stunned, his hand halfway to his gun, frozen in place.

"So, you're Capone Bege, huh? The Mafia boss, eh? You want to be Pirate King?" Karl's voice came cold and mocking.

Karl smirked, effortlessly twisting Capone Bege's head to face him.

"You're… that executioner?!" Capone Bege's eyes widened in disbelief.

He never imagined the man who had executed Roger would show up here.

And more importantly, Capone Bege realized that he was completely powerless against this man.

In front of Karl, he couldn't even move.

Karl crouched, gently pressing on Capone Bege's head to keep him still.

Karl didn't know much about Capone Bege, but from what he had seen in the original story, Bege was ruthless.

He was decisive in killing, had massacred civilians, and was cruel even to his own subordinates. He could kill without hesitation.

Capone Bege was also the leader of all the Mafia families in the West Blue.

Though he was currently just the head of a small family, Karl knew the Mafia's true nature.

The Mafia was infamous for burning, killing, and looting, and they were notorious for extorting protection money.

Compared to pirates, the Mafia's actions were even more despicable.

But Capone Bege was still young, and Karl believed there was still time to change his mindset and not waste his talents.

Just as Karl was contemplating how to change Capone Bege, the system's voice rang in his ears.

Sign-in successful: Capone Bege. Physical abilities have received a slight increase.

"Eh~"

"You're so weak!"

Capone Bege: …
