Chapter 154: Chapter 154:The End of the Celestial Dragons!

The execution of 774 Celestial Dragons from 17 families was a Anticipated and unprecedented event. Among the 20 original Celestial Dragon families, only three were exempt from execution.

The Nerona family, represented solely by Nerona Imu, was untouched due to Imu's enigmatic absence after being banished beyond time by Edie. The Nefertari family of Alabasta, descendants of Princess Vivi, was spared due to their ancestors' refusal to relocate to Mariejois. Lastly, the Donquixote family, reduced to Donquixote Doflamingo and Donquixote Rosinante, escaped execution. Other branches of their family, such as Don Quixote Mjosgard, had already perished—Mjosgard meeting his end at the hands of Golden Lion Shiki two years prior.

The site of the mass execution was none other than the Valley of the Gods, an infamous island drenched in blood from past atrocities. Edie addressed the assembled Celestial Dragons, his tone laced with biting irony.

"Familiar, isn't it? This is where you held your last 'killing competition.'"

Before him, the once-mighty elites of the world knelt shackled, their pale faces devoid of hope. Among them were the Knights of God, nine formidable warriors bound by Seastone shackles. Even in the face of death, their leader, Saint Figarland Garling, glared at Edie with defiance.

"The victor reigns as king, the defeated as bandits," Garling muttered coldly. His resolve mirrored by a female knight, who spat venomous words:

"Do you know why we're called the Knights of God? The 'god' we serve will return! Lord Imu will restore our rule over this world!"

Kaido, standing nearby, laughed derisively. "Oh, hey, hey. Still clinging to fantasies even on death's doorstep?"

Edie's voice carried calmly over the fearful murmurs. "Before gamblers lose their last chip, they always think they can make a comeback."

One desperate Celestial Dragon broke down completely, crying out in terror. "Please spare me! I'll give up my status as a Celestial Dragon! I'll live as an ordinary person!"

Edie's reply was cutting yet calm. "Give up? That's impossible. The coalition government legally stripped you of that title days ago. You have nothing left to give up."

The terrified man bolted, hoping for escape, only to be intercepted by Rob Lucci, who executed him swiftly and without mercy. The man's body was discarded before the trembling crowd of condemned Celestial Dragons, their once-arrogant faces now frozen in terror.

Throughout this grim spectacle, Big News Morgans ensured the world bore witness, faithfully broadcasting every moment to the masses. For countless viewers, the image of the Celestial Dragons' fear stripped away centuries of mystique.

"Ugly cowards! These were the 'gods' who ruled us?" one person exclaimed.

Another remarked bitterly, "When Roger faced death, he laughed. These so-called nobles are just sniveling worms."

Edie seized the moment, his clear, commanding voice reaching every corner of the broadcast.

"Before the executions begin, let me reveal a piece of history. This island, the Valley of the Gods, was once a thriving border nation. It became infamous as the site of Celestial Dragon 'killing competitions,' held every three years. Entire islands were wiped out for sport."

The revelations were met with collective outrage worldwide.

"How could such atrocities go unnoticed for so long?"

"The Knights of God came from this barbarity? Monsters born of genocide?"

As anger boiled over, cries of "Death penalty!" reverberated across the world. Edie's next words sealed the Celestial Dragons' fate.

"Throughout history, you have committed unforgivable crimes against humanity. The coalition government has sentenced all of you to death. And fittingly, your execution will take place here—on the very island where you reveled in the suffering of others. The history of the Celestial Dragons ends today."

Cheers erupted among the masses, the weight of centuries lifted as the oppressive reign of the Celestial Dragons was brought to its final, inevitable conclusion.

At this moment, Caesar Clown approached Edie and whispered, "Dr. Edie, the slime is ready. There will be no problems this time!"

Edie nodded curtly. "Then withdraw."

Turning on his heel, he led the others away, a satisfied smirk playing on his lips. "How fitting that these vermin's deaths can still contribute to my research."

Caesar chuckled ominously and addressed Rob Lucci. "Once everyone has evacuated, simply press the switch."

"Understood, Dr. Caesar," Lucci replied with measured calm.

Before long, the island was deserted except for the Celestial Dragons and CP-9, who remained to oversee them. Panic painted the Celestial Dragons' faces; they had no idea what fate awaited them.

Rob Lucci held a small device in his hand, his tone emotionless as he explained, "When I press this, the poisonous gas monster will be unleashed, spreading toxic gas rapidly."

The words sent shivers down the spines of the Celestial Dragons. Their faces turned ashen as one among them stammered, "Poisonous gas?!"

It was a fate far worse than being shot—a slow, agonizing death awaited those who inhaled it.

"The monster is locked in a cage five hundred meters behind you," Lucci continued.

With a deliberate motion, he flipped the switch.

A faint click echoed, and the iron cage rattled as the slime inside began to stir. Slowly, it oozed out, its gelatinous body pulsing with life. Lying just outside the cage was a beautifully wrapped piece of candy, which the slime eagerly devoured. As the sugar dissolved, its round eyes turned a fiery red, and its body swelled grotesquely.

And then—boom!

A deafening explosion rocked the island. Purple poisonous gas erupted and began spreading rapidly. Animals on the island, sensing danger, fled in a frenzy. Meanwhile, the Celestial Dragons turned to witness their doom, their pupils dilating in terror.

"The poison! It's coming!" one screamed, scrambling to run.

The others followed suit, desperation driving them.

Yet Rob Lucci made no move to stop them. He knew escape was impossible. The island was under complete lockdown, with dozens of warships encircling it, ten Pacifistas stationed aboard, and Earthly Branches patrolling the skies.

It was a flawless dragnet.

"Lucci, it's time to withdraw," Kaku urged.

Kalifa nodded, glancing at Blueno. "Open it."

Blueno's towering frame shifted as he extended his hand, pushing an invisible barrier—a Door-Door Fruit ability. An air door materialized, and the group stepped through one by one. The moment the door closed, the poisonous gas consumed their previous location.

Back on the island, Saint Figarland Garling stood unmoving amid the chaos, his body beginning to harden as the gas took effect. "Commander, we—" a female knight's voice faltered as paralysis set in.

Garling silenced her. "It's useless. They've sealed every exit. Resistance is futile."

He sat down calmly, gazing skyward as the poisonous gas enveloped him. In his final moments, he saw the Earthly Branches flying above, their video phone snails capturing every detail. His eyes landed on Snake, the one who had bested him, as his body solidified into a stone statue, forever frozen in a pose of resignation.

Onboard a warship outside the island, an air door opened, and CP-9 stepped onto the deck. They knelt before Edie.

"The explosion was a success," Rob Lucci reported. "The poison gas has spread, and the execution is proceeding smoothly."

"Good. What about the signal?" Edie inquired.

"No issues," Lucci confirmed. "Both Morgans and the Earthly Branches have captured every angle."

Edie smiled. "Well done, Lucci." After a brief pause, he added, "From this moment, CP1 through CP9 will be merged into a new organization: the United Government Central Intelligence Agency. You will serve as Deputy Director, under Director Ginny."

Lucci bowed deeply. "Understood, Doctor." His gamble had paid off; Edie no longer dismissed him as insignificant.

Turning to Blueno, Edie tossed him a blood collection needle. "Your Door-Door Fruit is valuable, but underdeveloped. I'll be studying it."

Without hesitation, Blueno pricked himself and handed the blood sample to Caesar. "It's an honor to assist in your research, Doctor."

Edie's smile widened. "Good. Remember, the coalition government is not the same as the old regime. Work diligently." With that, he took to the sky and vanished.

Ginny, observing the exchange, addressed the group. "From now on, I am your director. We have work to do."

Kalifa adjusted her glasses. "Director, were you once with the Revolutionary Army?"

Ginny raised an eyebrow. "How do you know?"

"I've read intelligence files," Kalifa replied. "You were a captain of the Eastern Army."

Ginny smirked. "Sharp memory. You're now my secretary. I'll need your help at the Hive Research Institute."

"Understood, Director."

The public execution of the Celestial Dragons was broadcast live for an entire day and night, the images reaching every corner of the world. The next morning, Caesar led the cleanup effort, Marines in gas masks combing the island. All 774 stone statues of Celestial Dragons were recovered and placed together.

Caesar, examining the results, declared proudly, "The axolotl fruit has been recovered, and the experiment was flawless!" Morgans snapped a photo of the stone statues, proclaiming, "The world must see this—a family portrait of the Celestial Dragons!"

Later, under Caesar's orders, the statues were shattered into fragments, ensuring no chance of revival.

By afternoon, the news had spread globally. The era of the Celestial Dragons had come to a definitive and symbolic end, ushering in a new age.
