Chapter 18: RBTC: Chapter 18

Buggy soon entered Mori City. Western-style buildings met his eye, with flowers and plants scattered throughout the city, complementing the houses. The streets were bustling with people, many of them playing or shopping. There were also quite a few street vendors lining the sides of the streets.
Without stopping, Buggy headed straight for his destination. He soon arrived at a bar.
His goal was to buy information about Lafitte. Buggy knew he was in the kingdom of Illysia, but he didn't know his exact location.
In One Piece, bars are the main places for trading and buying information. If you want to find someone, the first place to go is a bar. So, Buggy went straight to a bar in the city.
The bar was full of people, men and women. Buggy even saw some old men and women inside.
He went straight to the bar counter, ordered a beer, and after finishing it, Buggy looked at the bartender.
The bartender noticed Buggy's gaze and said with a professional smile, "Respected guest, is there anything I can help you with?"
Looking at the respectful smile, Buggy went straight to the point, "I want to buy some information. Do you do that here?"
"Respected guest, we do. We can provide you with any information you want."
The bartender replied respectfully, with a hint of excitement in his eyes. Buying information was expensive. Some information was even incredibly costly. As long as he sold a piece of information, he would get a commission. How could he not be excited?
"Please follow me, guest."
Of course, buying and selling information couldn't happen in such a lively place. It had to be done in a hidden location to keep their secrets from being revealed.
The bartender led Buggy to a secret room next to the counter.
"Respected guest, what information do you need? Please tell me."
"I want to know about a police officer named Lafitte. He's from your country. He should be a year or two older than me, probably around seventeen or eighteen. He should have a very violent style and be somewhat famous at this point."
To help the bartender find Lafitte more accurately, Buggy provided some information he knew and some guesses.
"Guest, please wait a moment."
With that, the bartender took out a Den Den Mushi (sea snail phone) and went to a corner to contact someone. Buggy didn't pay attention. He just waited where he was.
Not long after, the bartender hung up the phone, smiled, and walked back to Buggy.
"Guest, we've found the person you're looking for. He's in a district under the jurisdiction of Mori City. This information will cost you 500,000 berries."
The price wasn't a problem for Buggy. He took out the berries he had prepared and paid the bartender.
After receiving the money, the bartender told Buggy about Lafitte.
The information detailed Lafitte. He was currently working as a police officer in Bab Village, a district under the jurisdiction of Mori City. His personality was very similar to Buggy's description. No one in his jurisdiction dared to commit crimes easily. If he caught them, they would likely face inhumane treatment.
Hearing this information, Buggy was sure that this was Lafitte. He got the information he wanted. Buggy left the bar directly and found a local who led him to Bab Village.
A few hours later, Buggy arrived at Bab Village. A pastoral scene met his eye. People were working in the fields.
Buggy didn't go directly to find Lafitte. He observed Bab Village for a while.
Something felt strange to Buggy. There were no pedestrians on the road. The people working in the fields spoke in very low voices. Two people seemed very angry, but they spoke in very low voices and with very calm tones, as if they were having a normal conversation. But the words they spoke weren't very nice. They were clearly arguing, but both of them were very restrained.
After thinking for a while, Buggy guessed the reason. Perhaps this was the result of Lafitte's actions.
Without lingering, Buggy went straight to the two middle-aged men who were arguing and said, "Why are you arguing like this? Are you afraid of something?"
The two men heard the voice and looked at Buggy. Seeing that it was a stranger, they didn't take him seriously and continued arguing.
Buggy saw their reaction. He knew he had been underestimated. He directly unleashed his aura and pressed it towards them.
Buggy was now a swordsman. He could use his aura. Although it wasn't as powerful as Conqueror's Haki, which could directly knock people unconscious, his aura was still formidable.
His aura pressed against the two men. They came to their senses and looked at Buggy. Within a moment, both of them were sweating profusely, their eyes filled with fear. Their bodies were slowly bent over by the pressure.
One of them couldn't hold on any longer. He looked at Buggy in terror and shouted, "Sir, please calm down. Just ask whatever you want. I'll tell you everything."
They could feel that Buggy was a strong person, someone they couldn't afford to provoke. To save their lives, they would tell him everything.
Seeing their reaction, Buggy withdrew his aura. He had no grudge against them. He was just warning them. Since he had gotten the answer he wanted, there was no need to continue.
The two men felt their bodies lighten. They immediately took several deep breaths, bent over, and explained why they didn't dare to argue loudly.
It was all because of Lafitte. He was the village police officer. If he saw them arguing, he would use violence to enforce the law. At best, he would beat them up. At worst, he would arrest them and give them a lesson in jail. To avoid attracting Lafitte's attention, they argued like this.
Knowing the reason, Buggy suddenly had a flash of inspiration. He came up with a good excuse and a way to recruit Lafitte.
Buggy looked at the two men again and said, "I sympathize with your situation. Your police officer is too brutal. I can help you get rid of him. Would you like that?"
Buggy was going to use the villagers' anger as an excuse to get rid of Lafitte from the village. He would then go directly to find Lafitte, defeat him, and recruit him while taking advantage of the situation.
"Sir, Lafitte is a monster. He's very strong. Although we've always wanted to get rid of him, we don't have the ability. If you go, you might be in danger too."
Perhaps Lafitte's long history of brutal law enforcement had created psychological pressure on these people. They believed that Lafitte couldn't be defeated. If they went to find him, they might be in danger.
Seeing their fear, Buggy drew "En'yō" from his waist and swung it towards the dirt road beside them.
With a single stroke, a deep crack appeared in the dirt road, to the horror of the two men.
Buggy had held back, otherwise, he might have scared them to death.
"Do you think I need to be afraid of Lafitte? I'm just asking if you want to get rid of him. This might be your only chance. If you make the wrong choice, your difficult life will continue."
"Sir, with your strength, you don't need to be afraid of Lafitte. We believe in you."
The two men exchanged glances and made their decision. They were convinced by Buggy's strength. How could such a strong person be afraid of Lafitte? Perhaps they could really get rid of Lafitte. They wouldn't have to live in fear anymore.
