Chapter 166: Chapter 166: Impostor?
The Grand Line, Calm Belt!
At this moment, the enemies at the Central Authority base had not been completely eradicated. Shiro and his crew were also making their way from Amazon Lily to the Central base. However, an unexpected change occurred during the journey.
The Devil Child Nico Robin's expression drastically shifted upon seeing Shiro. She seemed flustered and unable to meet Shiro's gaze directly.
"Hey, Robin, what's going on?" Zoro asked, visibly perplexed.
Although the Straw Hat Pirates were in the middle of their two-year training period, Robin pretending not to recognize him was simply bizarre. And he never expected her to appear here, of all places. Could it be that there was something between Robin and Shiro?
While Zoro found this situation strange, Shiro approached calmly. His expression remained serene, like still water, but despite that, Robin instinctively took two steps back.
"An interesting ability indeed," Shiro remarked, his words causing confusion among the surrounding onlookers. However, Robin's face paled as her body tensed up. She realized that the terrifying young man before her had seen through her completely.
This was none other than Shiro,, a man notorious for his Bounty of 5.36 billion Belly, a criminal feared by the world. Even Blackbeard, with all his ambitions, had fallen at his hands.
Though her true identity had been exposed, 'Robin' still tried to resist. "S-Shiro... You should know, my ability could bring you a lot of pleasure if only..."
Her words dripped with false sweetness, and she even put on a shy demeanor, much to the shock of those around them. Even the world's greatest swordsman, Hawk Eyes, couldn't help but be impressed. Thankfully, the Pirate Empress needed to remain on Amazon Lily to oversee the battlefield, otherwise, this might have become an intense showdown.
Shiro, that guy, sure had some charm.
"Robin, what are you talking about? What ability?" Zoro was even more confused, completely thrown by what he was hearing. Was Robin leaving the Straw Hat Pirates to join the Central Authority?
As various thoughts raced through Zoro's mind, he was about to make a rash decision. However, the next moment left him utterly stunned.
Shiro, with a cold expression, had grabbed 'Robin' by the neck with a single hand! Without mercy, he lifted her off the ground. The shock around them was palpable.
Among the onlookers, Crocodile seemed unbothered. After all, his past failures had partially been due to Robin's betrayal, though he had since moved past that. But that didn't mean he harbored any warm feelings toward her.
Zoro, on the other hand, was visibly torn, struggling with what was happening before his eyes.
"Your ability is indeed impressive, but you're simply too ugly," Shiro said coldly.
Given that the enemy forces had not yet been fully dealt with, Shiro had no time to waste with this imposter. And based on Robin's abnormal behavior around him, the truth was already clear.
The one posing as Robin was none other than Crescent Moon Hunter Catarina Devon, a Blackbeard Pirate crew member!
With the battle on Amazon Lily still not fully resolved, it wasn't surprising that an enemy like Devon had slipped through the cracks. Her Mythical Zoan fruit allowed her to perfectly transform into other people, replicating their appearance, voice, beauty, figure, and even clothing.
But unfortunately, Devon's true form was far from appealing.
Boom!
Without any hesitation, Shiro, infused with Haki, delivered a devastating punch to 'Robin's' chest. The resounding explosion shattered her disguise, and Crescent Moon Hunter Catarina Devon reverted to her true form.
Everyone, including Zoro, finally understood what had happened. At the same time, they couldn't help but be impressed by Shiro's keen observation skills and control over the situation. Even the former prisoners of Impel Down, like Crocodile, began to suppress any rebellious thoughts.
They had no choice. Their young leader's strength and intellect were far beyond what they had expected. When they first heard about Shiro's destruction of Marineford, many of them had scoffed, dismissing him as a young upstart riding on Whitebeard's coattails. But now, it was clear they had been the frogs at the bottom of the well.
With Catarina Devon's identity revealed, Zoro, in a fit of rage, drew his sword, prepared to strike. However, Shiro stopped him.
Although killing Devon would complete the mission given by the system, Shiro had a more interesting idea in mind. After all, Catarina Devon's ability could make her the perfect intelligence agent.
In the end, Shiro ordered her to be locked up in solitary confinement, with Seastone cuffs to nullify her powers. He would deal with her after the battle was over.
Meanwhile, at the Central Authority base, the secret World Government forces had found themselves in a passive situation. One of the CP0 commanders in charge of the operation was in a state of panic.
To achieve maximum stealth, the World Government had gone to great lengths, deploying elite troops, the Pacifista and devices to block Den Den Mushi communication signals, tools that were in limited supply. Their strained relationship with Vegapunk meant these devices would likely be difficult to produce again.
But no matter how rare the weapons, as long as they worked, they were worth using. However, the current situation was dire. Despite CP0's elite forces and secret weapons, they had failed to inflict significant damage on the Central Authority base. Instead, they had been met with overwhelming resistance.
Shiro's defensive measures were incredible, with beams of light powerful enough to destroy the Pacifista. Thousands of these beams crisscrossed the sea. And just moments ago, both Aokiji and Enel, the Thunder God, had returned to the battlefield.
"Report, sir! Orders from the Five Elders: retreat at all costs and protect the secret weapon. This operation has been declared a failure!"
