Coby ignored Hatchan's offer entirely, his eyes flicking back to the crew. "Well, none of you noticed, except Nami and Robin of course, despite the many times I've explained it…" His tone was casual but his glare was pointing. "Luffy used Conqueror's Haki."
The crew paused mid-bite, turning toward Coby with wide eyes. Usopp nearly choked on his takoyaki, sputtering, "Wait—what? When did that happen?!"
Sanji raised an eyebrow, looking intrigued but confused. "I didn't feel anything strange, so are you sure? What the hell is that even supposed to be?"
Coby shook his head, not surprised by their reactions. "Yeah, Haki. Specifically, Conqueror's Haki. It's not something you learn. It's something you're born with—only a few people have it." He glanced at Luffy, who was sitting there grinning like an idiot, completely clueless about the significance of what he'd done.
"Luffy knocked out Motobaro with it," Coby continued. "Without even realizing it."
Luffy blinked, looking around at the stunned expressions on his crewmates' faces. "I did? What's Conqueror's Haki?"
Coby sighed, realizing Luffy hadn't been paying attention at all when he explained Haki in the past. "It's a type of power that lets you overpower the wills of others. Those with weak spirits pass out when they're hit by it."
Luffy's face lit up with excitement. "That sounds awesome! So, I can do that without even trying?!" He jumped up, fist pumping in the air. "Hahaha! I am awesome."
Nami, leaning against the railing, rolled her eyes. "Don't get carried away, Luffy. It's not like you can just use it whenever you want."
Robin nodding, added, "It requires control. You'll have to learn how to focus it if you want to use it properly in battle, Luffy."
Coby nodded, looking at Luffy. "It means, Luffy, you can start focusing on this type of Haki as well. Now that you used it once, it'll be easier for you to learn how to control it."
Luffy tilted his head, clearly still confused. "So, how do I do that?"
Coby rubbed his chin, thinking for a moment. "You've already got it in you. When the moment's right, it'll come out. But if you want to practice, you'll need to learn how to tap into that power without thinking too much about it. It's more instinct than anything else."
"Instinct?" Luffy scratched his head, trying to make sense of it. "Like when I punch someone?"
Zoro sighed, crossing his arms. "It's not just about hitting things, idiot."
Robin smiled softly while puffing at her Takoyaki to cool it. "Luffy, Conqueror's Haki is about your willpower. It's about imposing your will over others without physical force. You did it without realizing it, but with practice, you can focus it and use it more intentionally."
Luffy's eyes lit up with excitement. "Oh! So it's like… knocking people out with just being me!"
"Pretty much," Coby said with a smirk. "But don't go around using it on everyone, alright? It only works on people with weak spirits. Stronger opponents will still be standing."
Luffy laughed, already imagining all the times he could use it in a fight. "This is awesome! I can't wait to try it again!"
Sanji, puffing on his cigarette, sighed. "Just don't knock us out by accident."
Luffy grinned, waving off the concern. "I'll be careful!"
Chopper's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Can we all learn it, too?"
Coby shook his head. "No. Conqueror's Haki is rare. Only a few people are born with it. But Observation Haki and Armament Haki? Those can be learned by anyone who trains hard enough."
Nami leaned against the railing, eyeing Luffy. "So, you just had this power inside you this whole time, and you didn't even know it?"
Luffy scratched the back of his head. "Guess so!"
Usopp threw his hands in the air dramatically. "Great! First he's made of rubber, and now he's got a power that can knock people out without even touching them. What's next? Is he secretly a god?"
Coby gave a dry chuckle. "Only if they knew," he muttered to himself. The future had more surprises for them than they could ever imagine, but for now, it was best to not mention them.
Hatchan, Camie, and Pappug then joined the crew on the deck drinking tea, sharing what they knew about the route to the New World. Pappug excitedly explained that there was an alternate path they could take—one that didn't involve going directly under the Red Line. It required leaving their ship behind, though, which was a dealbreaker for the Straw Hats.
Luffy crossed his arms, pouting. "No way I'm leaving the Sunny behind. We'll go to Fish-Man Island the normal way."
Nami nodded in agreement. "Yeah, no point in taking shortcuts if it means losing our ship. We'll go with the coating."
Hatchan, always eager to help, grinned. "Don't worry! I know a great coating master at Sabaody Archipelago. He'll get you set up!"
"Then let's head there!" Luffy shouted, full of his usual energy, already itching for the next adventure.
With their course set, the crew sailed toward Sabaody Archipelago. As they approached the Archipelago, the crew gathered at the bow of the ship, their eyes wide with amazement.
The archipelago was made up of giant mangrove trees, their roots extending far into the sea. The trees were massive, towering above them with bubbles floating lazily through the air, drifting across the island. The sunlight filtered through the mangroves, casting a soft, golden glow over everything.
"Whoa!" Luffy exclaimed, his eyes wide as he leaned over the side of the Sunny. "This place is huge!"
Usopp leaned over the railing, nearly tipping over in excitement. "This place is insane! I never seen anything like it!"
Robin smiled softly, observing the strange beauty of the place. "It's like something out of a dream."
Franky, with his hands on his hips, grinned. "SUPER! This place looks like it's straight out of a fantasy!"
As they docked at Sabaody Archipelago, Luffy wasted no time. He jumped from one floating bubble to another, soaring higher into the sky with every bounce. His wide grin was impossible to miss. "Ah, a Ferris wheel! Looks amazing!" he yelled, pointing toward the large structure spinning in the distance.
Down below, Camie watched wistfully. "A Ferris wheel… I've always wanted to ride one," she said softly, her eyes glued to the distant attraction.
Chopper, standing next to her, looked up curiously. "Why don't you go and ride it, then?" he asked, his innocent eyes wide with confusion.
Before Camie could respond, Pappug hopped in front of her, waving his tiny arms. "Don't be ridiculous, Camie!" he scolded, his voice high-pitched and a bit frantic.
Camie sighed, shaking her head. "I know…" Her expression softened, though there was a clear sense of longing in her eyes.
Hatchan, sensing the change in atmosphere, cleared his throat to get everyone's attention. "I'll take you all to the coating master now, but first, you need to promise me something," he said seriously, gathering the crew around him.
The Straw Hats turned to Hatchan, each of them suddenly focused. "What is it?"
Hatchan's tone turned somber as he explained, "In the towns, World Nobles—also known as Celestial Dragons—sometimes walk around. No matter what happens, even if someone is killed right in front of you, you must promise me you will never defy the World Nobles. Just pretend you didn't see anything."
The crew exchanged uneasy glances. This sounded serious, but it wasn't like any of them were keen on letting atrocities slide. Luffy, standing a bit further back, didn't seem like he was listening too carefully, while Zoro's usual scowl deepened.
"Promise me," Hatchan insisted, his eyes wide with urgency.
The crew nodded, but the unspoken truth hung in the air—there was no way they were going to stand by if something terrible happened. Still, they let it pass without further discussion.
