Chapter 5: THE CONTRACT
I walked into the office m soon-husband company, my eyes scanning everywhere.
Looking for any suspicious move, but there was none. It seemed clean everyone moved around doing their business not minding anyone around.
"Miss Alessandro.." I heard my name called and I came in contact with his assistant.
"Oh… hi.. Mr…." I couldn't recall his last name, and he shot me a small smile.
"Pietro," he answered, stretching his hands, a small play on my lip as I accepted the handshake.
"I am here to see Mr. Matteo.." I revealed and he smirked at this, his hand moving to his pocket.
"He should be in his office waiting," he answered.
"So can you lead me there? I would like to give him the contract drafted out." I explained.
He bobbed his head now moving forward, and I tagged along.
We walked through the company's lobby, surrounded by sleek marble floors and soft lighting. The reception desk curved elegantly to our left, with a glass wall offering a city view.
To our right, an open-concept office bustled with employees working at neat rows of desks. Some glanced up, their whispers following me like a gentle breeze.
"Is she here to see the CEO?"
"Who's that with him?"
Their hushed conversations faded as we approached the elevator.
Mr. Pietro pressed the button, and the doors slid open. We stepped inside, and he selected the top floor.
The elevator ascended, its gentle hum filling the air.
As the doors opened on the executive floor, we exited into a serene hallway with dark wood paneling.
"His office is this way," he said, leading me to a door marked "Executive Office."
He gestured for me to enter.
"What?" I asked.
"You should go in," he replied.
I hesitated, recalling his pistol. I need to be on a safer side and not be messed with.
"Just so you know, people are aware I am here. Any foul play would have consequences."
"Feisty," he muttered and gestured for me to go inside. I took a deep breath and knocked on the door before pushing the door open.
I pushed open the door to his office, my heart racing with anticipation. But nothing could have prepared me for the sight before me.
Mr. Matteo sat behind his desk, his expression unbothered, as if he was reviewing financial reports. But it was what lay before him that made my stomach drop.
A woman, dressed in a skimpy outfit, was on her knees, her head bobbing up and down as she suck his cock.
I felt a wave of nausea wash over me, my eyes locked onto his calm face. How could he? In his office?
The woman's moans filled the room, and I felt my face heat up with anger and disgust. His eyes met mine, and for a moment, we just stared at each other.
He didn't even flinch.
"Ah, Solo Mia," he said, his voice smooth as silk. "Welcome, I am busy."
Busy? Was he kidding me?
The woman continued, oblivious to my presence. His gaze never wavered from mine, his expression challenging.
I took a step back, my hand on the door handle. "Me. Matteo, what the—"
"Don't move," he interrupted, his voice low and menacing.
My eyes narrowed. "What? This?"
Julian shrugged, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Business, This is just business," he stated.
I felt a chill run down my spine. What kind of business?
The woman finally noticed me, her eyes flashing with anger before she returned to her task.
I turned to leave, but Julian's voice stopped me.
"Didn't you come here for something?"
"Talk? Now? After this?
I spun around, my eyes blazing. "You think I can continue the shit talk with you after meeting this?"
His smile was infuriating. "Oh, we will talk. And you will listen." he pushed her head off, and I felt disgusted by the sight.
I turned my back against him, not able to withstand the sight. He had sex with me just yesterday and he was already into another girl.
"We are fucking going to get married soon!" I thought with my heart racing at what the shit I was about to get myself into.
Just then I felt a push making me almost lose my balance, but I quickly held the door knob.
I turned to the culprit and it was the lady, she was glaring so hard at me.
"Learn to know when you butt into other business!" she sneered and walked out. My eyes met with Mr. Ruccardo standing outside the door with a sly smirk on his face.
"You knew I was going to see this and you didn't stop me?" he shrugged his shoulders unbordered and I could only shake my head.
"Solo mia.." I heard his voice from the inside, I felt some weird feeling creeped up my throat.
I strutted inside and pulled out the contract, not in for much talk.
"This is it," I said, handing him the contract. "Read and—"
But before I could finish, he snatched it from my grip and picked up a pen, about to sign.
I reacted swiftly, grasping his hand to stop him. The instant our skin touched, a sudden spark coursed through me.
It was as if the room had melted away, leaving only the two of us, connected by a pulse of electricity.
My heart skipped a beat. His warmth, his pulse, and his presence enveloped me.
"Do you want my hand under you?" he asked, his voice low and husky.
My eyes widened in shock and embarrassment. I swiftly released his hand, clearing my throat.
"Ah, no," I stuttered.
The abrupt separation left me breathless and bewildered.
"Aren't you going to read it?" I asked, trying to ease the tension, he smirked still not looking at me. I watched him sign both spaces.
"But.."
"Call me Lorenzo from now on, since I am now your husband." he let out and I flickered my eyes in shock.
"You do know you handed all your shares of the firm to me and got me promoted to the vice chairman right?"
He squinted his gaze at this, and I noticed some look in his eyes before dissipating again.
"Why did you go for the vice and not?"
"He doesn't deserve the position, I want him to get fired," he smirked at this.
"You are sly.."
"I expected you to read it," I defended myself. "I love that," he added as I rolled my eyes.
"What does that mean?" I asked and he only smirked at me.
"As long as I am your husband," he slurred moving toward me…. "And you're the Vice chairman of the law firm, you will have to do everything that I asked for."
"Excuse me?"
"We haven't even been officiated." I let out and he snorted at this, "Really?" he snorted and then snapped his fingers.
The door opened, "Oh good day Mr. Matteo wasn't expecting your sudden ca…" I glanced back to see it was none other than Emilio.
He stopped talking now staring at the both of us, "What are you doing here?" Emilio asked, a bit of anger etched in his tone.
I snorted and glanced back at him, "Why is he here?" I asked Mr. Matteo.
"To officiate the wedding," he answered and Emilio sprinted toward me.
"What?"
"What is this he is talking about? Are you getting married to him for real?" I slapped Emilio's hand off my shoulder.
"Yeah, do you have a problem with that?" I fired back, and for the first time, I noticed a change in his emotion toward me.
"Mr. Riccardo, don't you think you trespassing?" Emilio shifted back swallowing hard as he stared at me.
"So I called you here as her witness while…." he snapped his finger and Mr. Pietro walked inside.
"He would be my witness, "As from now henceforth… Isabelle Valentina Alessandro is now my wife." He announced.
