Naruto:Suna Shinobi

Chapter 42: Chapter:42

Hogg United, formerly known as the Cole Gang, initially relied on a second-hand motorcycle shop and a few small stores to launder money, handling roughly $20,000 to $30,000 a month.

That was also the gang's primary income source.

Simmons Spallett, however, had bigger ambitions.

Bars had large cash flows, making it difficult to track exact figures—an ideal method of money laundering, second only to casinos and nightclubs.

The freight company was even more valuable, serving as a transit hub for laundering luxury goods of unknown origin.

But advanced laundering methods—such as real estate flipping, high-end auctions, and offshore accounts—were beyond the capability of small-time gangs.

Only one man in Gotham mastered every laundering trick.

The Penguin.

With his resources, dirty money transformed into clean wealth, no questions asked.

Now, Hogg United leveraged their freight company, bars, and stores to absorb over half of the $1 million from Two-Face.

The rest?

Penguin would handle it—for a fee.

Inside a small-town bar on the eastern border of the Land of Wind, Karasuke took a sip of sake, casually instructing his three subordinates.

"Your execution was good—eliminating the rogue ninja within my time frame," he remarked.

"But your biggest weakness lies in intelligence gathering and environmental awareness."

Pakura, Maki, and Hirito sat opposite him, listening carefully.

"In the ninja world," Karasuke continued, "the best reconnaissance comes from bloodline limits—like Konoha's Byakugan. Unfortunately, we in Sunagakure don't have that luxury."

"So, we rely on ninjutsu."

Karasuke looked at Maki.

"You have Earth Release. The Ground-Sensing Technique will suit you well. It lets you detect vibrations in the ground using chakra, or even create your own low-frequency tremors to sense hidden enemies."

Maki nodded, memorizing the details.

Karasuke then turned to Pakura and Hirito.

"For both of you, I recommend the Wind Viewing Technique—developed by the Second Kazekage. It works similarly to the Ground-Sensing Technique but detects chakra signatures through air currents."

"But be warned," Karasuke added, "this technique is active, meaning enemies with good sensory skills can detect you while you're using it."

"Still," he smirked, "since all three of you have Wind Release, I highly suggest you try it."

He paused, then looked directly at Hirito.

"As for you," he said, "you should contract a summoned beast with strong sensory abilities."

"Your puppet combat style is already powerful in close quarters. But if you had a summoned beast for scouting and detection, you'd have fewer blind spots."

Hirito rubbed his chin, considering it.

A summon could be an invaluable asset—especially in hostile environments.

The team took notes, and Karasuke finished his drink.

A month had passed since Hirito joined Team 9.

In that time, they had completed:

9 B-Rank Missions

4 C-Rank Missions

The team's chemistry had solidified.

Now, they returned to Sunagakure to report their mission.

While Karasuke handled mission logistics, Hirito had another destination in mind.

The Puppet Corps Training Grounds.

Hirito entered the temporary medical training center, recently established by Chiyo to train medical ninjas.

Inside, he saw Nanako skillfully piercing a lizard's spine with a senbon needle.

She barely glanced at him.

"What do you want?" she asked, voice neutral.

Hirito watched as she removed the senbon, blood spraying onto her cheek.

"…I want to learn medical ninjutsu," Hirito admitted.

Nanako raised an eyebrow, pressing a glowing green palm against the lizard's neck.

"Are you transferring to the medical unit?" she asked mockingly.

Hirito shook his head.

"No. But I want basic survival skills—something that can keep me alive if I'm critically injured on the battlefield."

Nanako sighed, removing her hand from the dying lizard.

"Failed again," she muttered.

"This Healing Palm technique is harder than it looks."

She tossed the corpse aside and walked to a cabinet, retrieving a stack of books.

"If you want to be a medical ninja, you must first be a doctor," she said, dropping them onto the table.

"You'll need to study:

Human anatomy

Physiology

Pathology

Pharmacology

Emergency treatment"

Hirito stared at the massive pile.

He felt his soul leave his body.

"Seriously?" he groaned.

"This looks like a death sentence."

Nanako smirked.

"If you want a shortcut, focus on wound treatment first," she advised.

"Learn how to stop bleeding, suture wounds, and apply battlefield medicine."

She quickly jotted down a list of books.

"The first row is for beginners," she said.

"The rest are recommended by Chiyo—if you want to deepen your studies."

Hirito glanced at the list.

"Sounds reasonable," he muttered.

"But who's going to teach me?"

Nanako shrugged.

"That's the real problem," she admitted.

"Chiyo's too busy, and the only real instructor is Suzuna. If she's occupied, you're on your own."

Hirito frowned.

Unlike Konoha, which had Tsunade—the greatest medical ninja in history—Sunagakure's medical training was still in its infancy.

Tsunade had the Senju legacy, the Second Hokage's experiments, and decades of research data.

Sunagakure?

It had Chiyo, a skilled puppeteer, but not a true medical revolutionary.

In truth, the only reason Suna's medical system was somewhat decent was due to:

1. Human Puppet Research

This required extensive medical experiments.

2. Poison Expertise

Suna's shinobi were masters of poison—and medicine is the flip side of poison.

Yet, despite their advantages, Sunagakure lacked a visionary like Tsunade.

Chiyo was high-level, but she wasn't a once-in-a-generation genius.

Without a medical genius to revolutionize their methods, Sunagakure's progress would always lag behind.

Hirito exhaled.

'It doesn't matter,' he thought.

'I'll just figure it out myself.'

If there wasn't a teacher, he'd teach himself.
