Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Breaking Through the Right Flank
"Heavenly Foot of Pain!"
Tsunade stomped on the Suna ninja in front of her, and without looking back, she sprinted furiously toward the distant mountains. She had found a good position.
Kawakaze was already surrounded by a dozen Suna ninjas. He remained calm and performed a sword dance. Spotting a Suna ninja who looked slightly timid, he used the Body Flicker Technique to charge forward.
With the boost of Senjutsu Chakra, both his speed and Kenjutsu power increased significantly. Before the Suna ninja's eyes, there was a flash of lightning, and Kawakaze's figure vanished.
"Scorch Release: Extremely Steaming Murder."
A Sunagakure kunoichi with a green pigtail and two yellow bangs on her forehead appeared in front of Kawakaze with a solemn expression. She was the only one who could vaguely perceive Kawakaze's attack intent.
She summoned several fireballs the size of a person's head, which floated around her and were about to collide with Kawakaze as she punched.
Kawakaze felt his blood boiling inside him. This was some Kekkei Genkai. Immediately, he shifted his focus, scattering Senbon in all directions while evading the kunoichi's attacks with his Body Flicker Technique.
In the next instant, he appeared behind the Suna ninja who had just dodged his Senbon and beheaded him with a single strike.
Seeing her attacks fail, the kunoichi's expression grew graver, the fireballs still orbiting around her.
"Pakura?" Kawakaze recognized the kunoichi at a glance. She was a user of Sunagakure's Scorch Release and a well-known female character in the original work.
"That's right."
Pakura wasn't surprised to be recognized; her name was feared across every nation.
"Attack!"
This was no time for conversation. At Pakura's command, the Suna ninjas closed in around Kawakaze.
"Wind Release: Blade of Wind."
"Wind Release: Air Bullet."
...
A wide variety of Wind Release Ninjutsu struck Kawakaze, while Pakura arrived alongside with a fireball.
Scorch Release could instantly evaporate the water in an enemy's body at close range, reducing them to a mummy, so Kawakaze naturally avoided direct confrontation. He vanished, effortlessly evading the barrage of Ninjutsu and forcing Pakura's attack to miss once again.
With the Flying Thunder God Technique activated in rapid succession, Kawakaze moved swiftly among the Suna ninjas, his fast sword technique cutting down anyone in his path.
Thrown into chaos by the sudden counterattack, the Suna ninjas faltered, scrambling to dodge his strikes. They regrouped into formations of three, standing back-to-back in a defensive stance. The roles of attacker and defender had completely reversed.
"He's too fast! We can't keep up!" one Suna ninja stammered, his hand clutching a kunai trembling with fear. He had never faced an opponent so unpredictable.
"You're useless. If you can't keep up, you might as well die," Pakura barked. She stood firm, her sharp gaze locked on Kawakaze as another Suna ninja fell to his blade.
"Do you really think that's going to stop me?" Kawakaze said coldly.
"Kenjutsu: Sixfold."
A faint smirk appeared on Kawakaze's lips as an overwhelming surge of Chakra erupted from his body. He turned into a blinding flash of lightning that streaked past Pakura's widening pupils.
When he reappeared, the three groups of Suna ninja in his path had been severed cleanly in half. Only one managed to react in time, saving himself with an Earth Clone—but even he lost all nerve.
"Ahhh!" the ninja screamed, fleeing madly into the distance, utterly terrified.
"Worthless," Pakura spat, glaring daggers at her fleeing comrade. Her expression burned with fury. This was more intolerable than failing to defeat Kawakaze herself.
"Keeping you alive is also a problem," Kawakaze remarked, his gaze shifting to Pakura. He knew the fate awaiting her in Sunagakure—a death orchestrated by her own village. To her, becoming a martyr was preferable to dying in their conspiracies.
"If you've got the guts, come over here!" Pakura shouted defiantly. The fireballs orbiting her began spinning violently, their intensity amplifying as if fueled by her resolve.
"Kenjutsu: Thunder Shadow Sword Dance."
Kawakaze's Chakra surged and focused into his sword. With a flick of his wrist, the blade spun, the sword dance accelerating until countless streaks of sword energy infused with lightning and thunder shot forward like a raging storm.
"If I can't get close, I'll attack from afar," Kawakaze muttered.
The sword energy, enhanced by lightning, streaked across the battlefield with blinding speed. Before Pakura could react, the devastating attack was already in front of her.
"Earth Release, Earth-Style Wall!"
Two Jōnin raised massive walls of earth, but the defenses didn't hold for even a single breath before being shredded into pieces by Kawakaze's Sword Dance. The sword energy surged forward relentlessly.
"Scorch Release, Great Steaming Explosive Blast!"
At this moment, Pakura abandoned all hesitation. She gathered the fireballs orbiting her, merging them into a single fireball half the height of a person. The attack collided head-on with the incoming sword energy.
A thunderous explosion erupted, and scorching steam billowed in all directions. Kawakaze instinctively raised an arm to shield his face.
When the dust and steam finally settled, Pakura coughed up blood and dropped to one knee, visibly weakened and gravely injured. Behind her, two Suna ninjas had been reduced to mummified husks, victims of her Scorch Release's power.
"It's time to send you on your way," Kawakaze muttered coldly.
He felt no pity for the woman kneeling before him, even though she was undeniably beautiful. The remaining Suna ninjas were now scattered and no longer posed a threat.
Suddenly, Kawakaze sensed a surge of immense Chakra emanating from beyond the battlefield. Without the slightest hesitation, he turned and vanished, streaking across the battlefield like a bolt of lightning.
"Retreat," he commanded.
Kawakaze carved a path through the chaos for the Konoha ninjas, enabling them to withdraw safely. The Suna ninjas, still stunned and disorganized, failed to comprehend what had just occurred.
Pakura, still half-kneeling on the ground, looked toward the distant mountains. There, a colossal crimson figure loomed ominously. Behind it, seven tails swayed violently, and an orb of concentrated, high-density Chakra had already begun to form in its mouth.
The target was unmistakable: their battlefield.
Pakura felt no relief at having survived Kawakaze's assault—only a deeper, more primal fear.
"Tailed Beast Ball… Run," she muttered.
The Suna ninja forces, already in disarray, descended into full panic. There was no time to organize an effective defense.
Forcing herself to her feet despite her injuries, Pakura turned and fled into the distance.
As the Konoha ninjas retreated, the Suna forces finally realized the impending catastrophe.
"Ah, run!"
"Konoha is so ruthless!"
"It's the Tailed Beast Ball!"
...
The panicked Suna ninja began fleeing back toward their defensive line, their formation rapidly breaking apart.
Tsunade, maintaining her focus and composure despite the presence of the Seven-Tails, noticed the clear separation between the Konoha forces and the disorganized Suna ninja. Without hesitation, she swallowed the Tailed Beast Ball and launched it straight at the enemy.
"Boom!!!"
A colossal explosion erupted, sending a massive mushroom cloud into the sky. The blast obliterated most of the Suna ninja's defensive line and camp.
When the smoke finally cleared, the ground was littered with dead and wounded Suna ninja. The devastating power of the Tailed Beast Ball spoke for itself.
"Attack," Kawakaze commanded, leading the Konoha team into another assault. Tsunade flapped her wings and soared forward to join the advancing forces.
"Well done."
"It's all thanks to your good command."
Kawakaze and Tsunade exchanged words of praise amidst the chaos of the battlefield.
The right flank of the Suna ninja had completely collapsed. Following the devastation caused by the Tailed Beast Ball, the Konoha ninja swept through like wolves among sheep. Morale shattered, the Suna forces abandoned resistance and began retreating toward the center of the battlefield, desperate for a chance to survive.
"Let's head toward the center of the battlefield too," Kawakaze said decisively. "We'll help Big Brother break through the center, then regroup."
"If we succeed, the defense of the Land of Wind will be completely broken," he added, his mind already planning the next steps.
"Good. Are Nawaki and Minato still safe?" Tsunade asked, her thoughts drifting briefly to her younger brother.
"Don't worry, they're fine," Kawakaze replied with absolute confidence. Together, he and Tsunade led the main force in hot pursuit of the retreating Suna troops, driving them toward the center line.
Among the advancing forces, Nawaki and Minato fought side by side, their clothes soaked in blood. They didn't even know how many enemies they had defeated.
"Minato, my sister is awesome, isn't she?" Nawaki shouted, his face beaming with pride as though the Tailed Beast Ball had been his doing.
"And my Sensei's wife…" Minato replied absently before stopping mid-sentence, a brief look of confusion crossing his face. He suddenly realized the hierarchy of their relationships might sound a bit… off.
