Naruto: Starting by giving Hinata the Tenseigan!

Chapter 79: 079: How long has it been since he's been like this?

Though he snorted like a proud edgelord, Kiba was secretly thrilled to be teamed up with Natsuki, the class topper who always aced practical exams.

So, as they left the academy, Kiba, lagging behind, called out to the two ahead.

"Natsuki! Hinata! Heh, we're teammates now!

"Don't worry, I'm super strong! I definitely won't hold you guys back.

"Right, Akamaru?"

"Woof!!!"

The cheerful voice made Natsuki and Hinata stop and turn.

"Please take care of me from now on."

Kiba beamed, a picture of youthful energy.

Too bad, though.

Hinata stared at Kiba, utterly perplexed. "What's your name?"

Crack!

Something seemed to shatter in the atmosphere.

Kiba stumbled back, the question "What's your name?" echoing in his head.

Six years! They'd been classmates for six years, and she didn't even remember his name!

Was my presence that insignificant?

Kiba frantically searched his memories of the Academy.

Well, classes were a drag and a half, so he was one of the resident truants, often skipping out with Shikamaru, Choji, and Naruto.

The rest of the time he spent sleeping, but that was only because he trained so hard after class that he was exhausted!

It couldn't be... Could it?

"Woof!!!"

Akamaru, sensing his master's despair, barked loudly.

"Uh, his name is Kiba.

"He's a genius from the Inuzuka Clan."

Thankfully, Natsuki smoothly rescued Hinata, even throwing in a compliment to ease the awkwardness.

"Ah, Kiba... yes, please take care of me as well."

Hinata blushed crimson, realizing she'd been a bit harsh.

But it wasn't her fault! She didn't know, and for the past six years, her attention had been almost entirely focused on Natsuki and their congregation.

Besides, fending off all those other girls was exhausting enough!

Still, it wasn't too late to make amends.

Hinata apologized again, her eyes welling up with anxiety.

"Uh, hey, it's... it's okay..."

Kiba waved his hands frantically.

Making such a cute, harmless girl cry... it felt wrong for some reason.

Even Akamaru had stopped barking, lowering his head and wagging his tail.

That ungrateful mutt! I'll give him extra training for him when we get back home.

"Come on, let's go. If we don't hurry, we'll lose our Teacher," Natsuki reminded them, pulling Hinata along after Kurenai.

When it was official business, Natsuki, as a righteous man, preferred not to mention his sister's relationship to him. Calling her Teacher was just fine.

"Right!"

The three followed Kurenai out of the Academy to a deserted area on the village outskirts, surrounded by lush forest.

Several wooden posts stood nearby, covered in countless slash marks.

This was Training Ground 8.

"This will do.

"First things first, introductions. Tell me a little about yourselves, your hobbies, your dreams..."

Kurenai stood with one hand on her hip, a warm smile on her beautiful face.

She seemed like a friendly older sister next door.

"Alright, I'll go first," Kurenai began.

"My name is Kurenai Yuhi, and I'll be your Jonin instructor. You can call me Teacher Kurenai or Lady Kurenai. I specialize in Genjutsu, enjoy evening sake, wasabi octopus, and dislike cake. My dream is to become the greatest Genjutsu user and taste every fine wine in the world.

"Life is fleeting, glory is but a dream. Only fine wine can prolong those precious moments and intoxicate the soul.

"If you have any good wine at home, feel free to bring it in, and I'll help you... appreciate it."

That irresponsible sister!

Natsuki's eye twitched. The beginning was fine, but the more he listened, the more exasperated he became.

"Hold on! You just became a teacher, and you're already openly asking for bribes?"

"Hmph!" Seeing her intentions exposed, Kurenai huffed, put on a stern face, and added, "Oh, and another hobby of mine is hitting my little brother. I hit him when I'm in a bad mood, I hit him when it rains, I hit him when it's sunny and even when I'm happy..."

Their sibling relationship was an open secret among the clan children.

There was no need to hide it, especially since Hinata had visited their home several times and was already familiar with their dynamic.

As expected, Hinata giggled behind her hand.

"Uh... Natsuki had a rough childhood, huh?" Kiba, as straightforward as Naruto, took it as truth.

He'd been quite the troublemaker himself, often receiving a double-whammy from his mother and sister Hana.

At least there was reason behind those beatings.

This teacher, however, seemed to resort to violence on a whim.

Beneath her approachable exterior was the heart of a tyrant!

I'll have to be careful around her.

"Okay, your turn," Kurenai's gaze swept over them.

Kiba, jolted from his daydream, jumped and quickly introduced himself. "I'm Kiba Inuzuka! I have a keen sense of smell and excel at tracking. Prey I target never escapes my fangs. I like beef jerky and cartilage, and I hate things that aren't chewy. My dream is to become Hokage!

"Oh, and my hobby is walking with Akamaru."

"Woof!!!" Akamaru, perched on Kiba's head, barked in agreement.

"Very good! You seem full of energy!" Kurenai nodded, then turned to Hinata.

Hinata straightened up. "M-My name is Hinata Hyuga. I specialize in Taijutsu. I like many things... and even more since I met a someone.

"My hobby is flower pressing. I like red bean paste and cinnamon rolls. I hate shrimp and crab because they're... scary. My future dream is... to cook delicious meals..."

...for Natsuki. The unspoken words hung in the air, barely a whisper.

Hinata yearned to shout them out loud, but she lacked the courage. The veiled confession had already made her blush furiously.

Saying anything more might make her faint.

"Ahem, that's a... very unique dream," Kurenai said, giving Hinata a strange look.

She racked her brain for encouraging words but ended up with unique.

That dream really is unique for a ninja.

"Well, that concludes the introductions. Now..."

"Ah! Lady Kurenai! Natsuki hasn't introduced himself yet!" Hinata, forgetting her shyness, interrupted.

Natsuki hadn't revealed his preferences yet!

Everyone had to know!

"Oh? Natsuki hasn't?

"Then Natsuki, say a few words." Kurenai was doing this on purpose.

Hmph, who told you to expose me earlier? But truthfully, she also wanted to hear about Natsuki's hobbies and dreams.

Despite living together for so long, she still couldn't quite figure out her little brother. Sometimes he was mature, especially when it came to forbidding her from drinking.

But other times, he was childish, doing ridiculous things.

Speak of the devil and he shall appear.

Just then, Natsuki spoke. "Since you all sincerely wish to know this honorable self, I shall graciously enlighten you."

Kurenai's eye twitched. Turning to the other two, she asked, "How long has it been since he's been like this? Is he always like this at the Academy?

"How did he survive for six years? Didn't the other kids beat him up?"

Hinata quickly defended him. "Natsuki is a good person! Everyone likes him."

Kiba, face dark, muttered, "The other boys couldn't beat him up..."
