For the past few months, Naruto had been training with Sasuke, and it had become something of a ritual for them. They had created a routine, an unspoken agreement where they would meet at a secret spot, away from prying eyes, to spar at the crack of dawn. The stakes were simple: the loser would buy the winner anything they wanted—no matter how big or small the request. There were no excuses, no backing out. This pact was ironclad.

Their duels, however, were far from ordinary. Sasuke, being as competitive and relentless as Naruto, had suggested they train before the sun even rose. It wasn't just a test of strength or skill, but of their instincts. In the cover of darkness, they couldn't rely on sight alone; everything boiled down to their raw intuition. Each clash was laced with the primal edge of;

FEAR

It was fear that triggered adrenaline, and that rush kept them sharp. They fought until they could fight no more, until their limbs trembled—not from fatigue or terror, but from the sheer excitement that pumped through their veins. The exhilaration was enough to make them grin in the dark, wild smiles cutting through the blackness as they tested each other's limits.

Tonight would be no different.

Naruto lay in his apartment, sleeping soundly, the calm of the night lulling him into deep rest. The room was quiet, disturbed only by the occasional cold breeze drifting in from his window. But the silence wasn't destined to last. A shadow moved through the room, silent as a whisper, carrying something sharp in its hand. The figure crept over Naruto's sleeping form, its breath barely audible, and without warning, it plunged the weapon toward his stomach.

Naruto's eyes shot open in an instant. Reacting purely on instinct, he caught the incoming strike with his hand, stopping the sharp object mere inches from his skin. In a split second, he countered, delivering a swift kick aimed at the intruder's face. But before his foot could land, the figure blocked the attack, twisting in the air and landing gracefully on the floor. The shadow grinned, revealing none other than Sasuke, holding a wooden kunai—the weapon of choice for their midnight ambushes.

"You're crazy, you know that, Sasuke," Naruto muttered, catching his breath as he eyed the wooden kunai he had snatched from her hand.

Sasuke, still grinning, shrugged. "You say that, Naruto, but you're grinning like a psycho yourself."

Naruto traced his fingers over his lips and, sure enough, found he was smiling—a wild, untamed grin. "Well, you're the one who made me like this, Sasuke. Now, whatever happens next is on you."

Without another word, Naruto lunged at her, his wooden kunai aiming for her neck. Sasuke, unfazed, drew another kunai from her pouch. She had prepared plenty of wooden weapons for their sparring sessions, making sure they could fight without causing serious injury. But kunai weren't the only weapons she had carved out of wood.

With a sly smirk, Sasuke reached into her pouch and flung several wooden shuriken in Naruto's direction, following up with a fierce charge. Naruto deflected the shuriken, spinning to meet her as their kunai clashed with a resounding thud. He didn't hold back, kicking Sasuke in the stomach with his Uzumaki strength, enhancing the blow with a burst of chakra. Sasuke coughed, spitting from the impact, but she had managed to block most of the damage with her arm.

They fought fiercely, their blows echoing through the apartment as they clashed in a brutal dance of skill and ferocity. Realizing they were doing too much damage inside, Naruto grabbed Sasuke by the arm and dragged her outside, their fight spilling into the streets of Konoha. They didn't stop. They fought with reckless abandon, bruises forming on their faces, bodies sore from each hit. Sasuke, being a girl, and smaller in stature, took more damage than Naruto. But her resolve didn't waver.

Their battle took them to their secret spot—the clearing where they always finished their fights.

"It looks like this is it, Naruto," Sasuke said, breathing heavily, yet still grinning.

"Yeah… looks like it," Naruto agreed, matching her smile.

They stood there, staring each other down as the sun began to rise, its light slowly creeping over the horizon, casting long shadows behind them.

"And the only way to end it," they said in unison, "is to kill the other!"

With that, they launched themselves at each other with deadly intent. Naruto, enhancing his body with chakra, slammed his foot into the ground, sending a shockwave that made Sasuke stumble. Seizing the opportunity, Naruto propelled himself forward with chakra-enhanced speed, his fist aimed directly at Sasuke's face.

Sasuke, off-balance but still quick-witted, leaped into the air, using a tree branch to propel herself forward. She discarded her wooden kunai and aimed a punch at Naruto's face. Naruto's heart raced with excitement, fueled by Sasuke's quick thinking. They were both grinning like madmen—or, in Sasuke's case, like a madwoman. Their fists collided, a sickening *thud* echoing in the quiet morning air. The force of the blow shook them both to their core, but neither was willing to give up. It was a battle of willpower now.

Sasuke, though a genius and a formidable opponent, was still a girl with a softer body. Her will faltered first. She lost consciousness and crumpled to the ground, falling into a deep sleep. Naruto, barely holding on himself, stood over her, his legs trembling with exhaustion. But he grinned down at her, proud of his victory.

"That makes 234 wins for me, Sasuke," Naruto muttered to himself, glancing at her sleeping form. "And you've only got 20 wins. I guess I really am awesome, huh?"

As he stood there, his body began to steam, healing itself rapidly, as if he were some sort of titan regenerating from damage. "Thanks, Kurama," Naruto said aloud.

Inside his mind, the great Nine-Tails growled in annoyance. "Brat, it's my passive ability. You get this healing because you're my vessel, not because I *want* to help you," Kurama snapped, his voice tinged with irritation—and, maybe, a little tsundere-like reluctance.

Naruto chuckled. "Sure, sure, whatever you say, Kurama. But you sound so cute when you're angry."

"Shut up!" Kurama growled, but Naruto could feel the fox's underlying amusement. Over the past month, Naruto hadn't just trained with Sasuke—he had also been working on improving his relationship with Kurama. He knew he had two options: forcefully extract the Nine-Tails' chakra and use Kurama as a slave, or earn the fox's trust and cooperate with him willingly. Naruto, always preferring to make allies rather than enemies, had chosen the latter. He didn't need Kurama's full power just yet; that would come later, during the Shippuden arc. For now, he was content with slowly building that bond.

Naruto mentally opened his status window, glancing over his stats as Kurama continued to mutter grumpily in the background.

Naruto frowned as he looked at his skill levels. It was getting harder to level up the further he progressed, especially after his skills had broken through the 30th level. But he didn't let that stop him. He was relentless, constantly training and pushing himself to the limit. He had even picked up new skills like fishing and butchering—not because he needed the money, but because it interested him. Butchering, in particular, had become something of a hobby. He found the precision required to carve up animals oddly satisfying.

With his chakra detection skill at level 44, Naruto could now sense chakra signatures up to a radius of 4,400 meters with ease. This ability gave him an almost omniscient awareness of his surroundings, detecting even the faintest fluctuations in chakra. It wasn't just useful for sensing people—it allowed him to pinpoint hidden traps, distinguish the types of jutsu being used around him, and anticipate attacks before they even came close. As he sat against the tree, Naruto felt a sense of accomplishment.

The past few months hadn't just been about fighting or survival—they had been about transformation. Training with Sasuke had sharpened him in ways he hadn't expected. She was more than just a sparring partner or a stepping stone; she became an unexpected a rival, someone who constantly pushed him to be better. And the fact that he had kept his abilities largely hidden from everyone else in the village gave him an advantage. He was growing stronger in the shadows, preparing for the inevitable challenges that awaited him. No one, not even Danzo, had an inkling of his true potential.

Naruto closed his eyes, focusing his chakra. This was something he did often—multitasking his abilities to increase his control and efficiency. He could simultaneously activate Chakra Enhancement while using Chakra Strings to manipulate objects from a distance. While doing that, he layered in Chakra Control exercises, constantly testing the limits of how much he could manipulate at once. It was exhausting, but it was this kind of training that set him apart. Naruto wasn't content to simply be good; he wanted to be unstoppable.

As the minutes passed, Naruto's thoughts drifted to Kurama. Over the past month, he had worked tirelessly to build a relationship with the Nine-Tails. He had heard stories of other jinchuriki who had tried to control their tailed beasts, but Naruto wanted something different. He didn't want to be the master of a slave; he wanted to be a partner to Kurama. He wanted to prove that together, they could be more powerful than anyone could imagine. But it was all an act he created to gain the full power of the nine tails, like the barion mode if he was about to die but it was all an last resort nothing more, It was also why he hadn't rushed to break the seal and force Kurama's chakra out—he wanted to earn it.

In his mind, Kurama remained a looming presence, powerful and proud. The fox rarely showed any softness, but Naruto knew that over time, the walls between them were breaking down. Kurama was starting to trust him, even if the fox wouldn't admit it.

"Kurama," Naruto called out in his mind, "one day, we're going to fight side by side, you know that?"

"Brat, you're delusional," Kurama growled, his voice rumbling like distant thunder. "Just because you're making a little progress doesn't mean I'll willingly help you."

Naruto smirked. "Yeah, yeah. You keep saying that, but I can feel you warming up to me." Naruto said making another situation where the dumb fox warmed up to him, and where he could manipulate the fox to trust him.

"Warm up to you? Don't flatter yourself, kid. I'm stuck with you, that's all. If I had my way, I'd crush you like a bug."

"Right," Naruto said, laughing. "But since we're both stuck here, might as well make the best of it, right? We'll get stronger together, and when the time comes, you'll see I'm not like the others."

Kurama didn't respond, but Naruto could sense the fox brooding in the background. It wasn't anger—it was something else, something more complicated. Naruto didn't push it. He knew that building this relationship would take time.

The sun was fully up now, casting a warm light over the clearing where Naruto and Sasuke had fought. Sasuke, still unconscious, was curled up on the ground, her bruised face peaceful in sleep. Naruto watched her for a moment, feeling a strange sense of camaraderie with her. They were both the incarnation of the two rival brothers, both driven by something that made them want to become stronger.

He stood up, feeling the soreness in his muscles, and stretched. It had been a long night, but it was far from over. His training never truly stopped. Even in moments of rest, he was thinking, strategizing, and planning his next move.

As Naruto gazed down at Sasuke one last time, he couldn't help but feel a surge of something unnatural for him. Their bond was something fake, he created nothing more, Sasuke would be someone he could truly rely on being his underling or preferably his slave. But for now, he would let her rest. She had earned it.

He bent down, lifted her gently, and carried her back to her house, making sure she was safe before heading back to his apartment. Once there, he made a mental note to prepare for their next sparring session—and maybe, just maybe, he'd go a little easier on her next time. After all, he needed her to keep getting stronger too.

As Naruto walked away, his mind drifted back to the status screen that constantly updated itself within him. It was a reminder that while he had come far, there was still so much more to achieve. Every fight, every moment, every skill he honed brought him closer to the inevitable clash with fate.

But until then, he had Sasuke, Kurama, and his other soon to be friends to manipulate and take advantage of in the future.

He smirked to himself as he walked through the quiet streets of Konoha. The game had only just begun.
