Chapter 379: 378-Exclusive Seals

Kushina wiped her hands against her tunic, the last traces of blood disappearing. She turned to Renjiro, her expression unusually serious.

"Alright, listen up," she said, rolling her shoulders. "Blood seals are no joke. You've already seen that they're harder to form than regular seals, but that's not their biggest advantage."

Renjiro, still examining the faint markings left behind by his last attempt, turned his head slightly, waiting for her to continue.

"They're stronger than normal fūinjutsu," Kushina explained, her hands moving in practised gestures as if she were moulding invisible chakra. "And that's because they're not just chakra-based—they're tied to your life force itself. That's what makes them almost unbreakable under normal circumstances."

Renjiro frowned slightly, mulling over the implications.

"Almost unbreakable?"

Kushina smirked. "Nothing's truly indestructible, Renjiro. If you throw enough raw power at a seal, it'll break. But blood seals are a lot more stubborn. Think of it like this—regular fūinjutsu is like carving a mark into wood. Strong, but with enough force, it can be broken or worn away. Blood fūinjutsu, though? It's like engraving something into stone. It won't fade, and it takes serious effort to undo it."

Renjiro nodded slowly. That lined up with what he had observed when he had instinctively used blood fūinjutsu before—those seals had held up under intense stress. But something was still bothering him.

"That kind of power must come with a price," he said, his gaze flicking toward Kushina's palm, where the earlier wound had completely closed.

Kushina's smirk softened, her posture shifting slightly. "Yeah. The cost is stamina. Since we use less chakra, the drain comes from our physical energy instead."

Renjiro's brows furrowed. Chakra exhaustion was bad enough, but stamina depletion was even trickier. If he pushed himself too hard, he could find himself physically unable to move, even if he had chakra left to spare.

"So if I overuse it, I'll collapse?"

"Pretty much," Kushina confirmed, crossing her arms. "Blood seals don't just use your life force—they tie themselves to it. The more you use, the more exhausted you get. And if you push past your limits, you won't just pass out—you'll be left wide open, completely vulnerable."

Renjiro exhaled through his nose. That made sense. It also meant he would have to be careful with how often he used this technique. He could already think of several ways to utilize it in combat, but he needed to find the balance between efficiency and conservation.

Kushina watched him for a moment, then grinned. "You're already thinking of ways to use this, aren't you?"

Renjiro gave her a side glance. "…Obviously."

She laughed, the tension breaking slightly. "Well, before you go running off to experiment, let me show you what these seals can actually do."

She knelt down, biting her thumb just enough to draw blood, then pressed her hand to the ground. Her chakra flared—sharp, controlled—and the blood responded instantly. The liquid flowed outward in an intricate pattern, weaving into itself in a way that normal ink-based fūinjutsu never could. The seal glowed faintly, pulsing in sync with her heartbeat.

"This," she said, gesturing at the completed pattern, "is a Blood Lock Seal. It can be used to bind objects, doors, or even people in place. Unlike regular sealing techniques, this one only responds to the blood of the person who created it. No one else can unseal it unless they forcefully break it, which—like I said before—takes a hell of a lot of effort."

Renjiro crouched down, his eyes narrowing as he examined the seal up close. He could feel the difference. Normal seals had a uniform structure, their composition strictly based on chakra control and design precision. But this—this felt alive, almost as if it was breathing.

"So even if someone understands the mechanics, they still can't undo it unless they have my blood," Renjiro murmured.

"Exactly," Kushina said, tapping the centre of the seal with her finger. "You could use this for a lot of things—securing scrolls, protecting valuables, setting up defensive traps—hell, you could even use it to reinforce your gear."

Renjiro filed that information away for later. The idea of embedding blood seals into his gear had potential.

Kushina stood up, wiping her palm clean. "Now for the fun one."

She repeated the process, but this time, the seal that formed was different. The blood swirled into a more complex shape, its pattern shifting subtly even after it settled.

"This," she announced, "is the Life-Bound Storage Seal."

Renjiro's eyes flicked to hers in interest.

"This one is exclusive to the Uzumaki clan," she continued. "It functions like a storage seal, but instead of using raw chakra, it feeds off your life force to maintain the seal. That means two things—one, it's more stable and lasts way longer than regular storage seals, and two…"

She trailed off, pressing her hand against the seal. A small burst of chakra later, and a kunai materialized in her grasp.

"…it reacts instantly," she finished with a smirk.

Renjiro's gaze flickered between the seal and the kunai. That was fast. Normal storage seals required a brief pulse of chakra to retrieve their contents, but this… it had responded almost instantly to Kushina's intent.

"So you don't even need to form a hand seal to retrieve something?" he asked.

"Nope," Kushina confirmed, spinning the kunai between her fingers. "As long as your blood is in the seal, it acts as an extension of yourself. That means you can call out stored weapons, tools, or whatever you need with just a thought."

Renjiro could already imagine how devastating this could be in battle. If he could seal weapons within his own body's energy, then—

Kushina's grin turned mischievous. "Oh, and one more thing—since it's tied to your life force, no one else can use the things stored in your seal. Even if they manage to take your scrolls or try to forcefully activate the seal, it won't respond to them."

Renjiro let out a slow breath. This technique was on a completely different level than anything he had worked with before. It was practical, efficient, and nearly impossible to steal.

He looked back at Kushina. "I remember you mentioning something years ago… about translating Uzumaki blood seals into regular fūinjutsu."

Kushina hummed thoughtfully. "Yeah. I was working on it for a while, trying to make these seals accessible for those who don't have Uzumaki blood. It's tricky, though. Our clan's fūinjutsu is deeply tied to our genetics. Trying to replicate these seals without using blood changes how they function. Some of them become weaker, others don't work at all."

Renjiro nodded. That made sense. The power of the Uzumaki clan's fūinjutsu came from their unique life force, something not easily replicated.

Still, even with those limitations, he could see the immense potential these techniques had.

He exhaled, clenching his fist as he felt a renewed sense of purpose.

"Alright," he said, straightening. "Teach me everything."

Kushina smirked, already forming another seal. "Hope you've got some stamina left, Renjiro, 'cause we're not stopping 'til you get this right."

And with that, their training resumed—two crimson marks glistening in the moonlight, weaving the secrets of an ancient art into the next generation.
