Naruto: From Konoha to One Piece

Chapter 146: Chapter 146: Return to the Sea

Shin sat on the boat, inhaling the fresh sea breeze deeply, relishing the unique freedom of the One Piece world. Taking a hearty bite of the enormous chunk of meat unique to this world, he sighed, "The food in this world is particularly delicious, especially regarding the meat!"

With the situation in the Naruto world mostly wrapped up, Shin's future visits would primarily be to gather ninjutsu cataloged by the Red Queen. His progress in ninjutsu had come a long way, allowing him to perform most jutsus without hand seals and even achieve the miniaturized Susanoo form he'd envisioned. His skills now combined elements of the Naruto and One Piece worlds, forming a unique combat system.

Yet, there was little room left for further growth in the Naruto world, so he decided it was time to return to the pirate world. Additionally, he had significantly altered the original Naruto world timeline. The Sage of Six Paths, abandoning his plan to release Kaguya Otsutsuki, meant Shin could leave without fearing that he'd return to an army of Otsutsuki invaders.

"According to the calculations of the Tree Diagram, my Devil Fruit abilities' awakening is closely tied to this world's environment, which makes development smoother here," he mused. "If I could awaken the Munch-Munch Fruit and the Dark-Dark Fruit…"

A sudden shout from the ship's bow and a violent shake interrupted his thoughts. Startled, Shin glanced around.

"What's going on?" he asked, moving to the bow.

Currently, he is still aboard the Fourth Division's ship, with no concrete plans yet for his next steps.

"What a giant elephant! Is that the fabled Zunesha? The home of the Mink Tribe!" someone exclaimed.

Shin looked up to see an enormous mountain-like creature in the distance. Supported by four massive legs that seemed to reach the heavens, the enormous creature was none other than the legendary elephant, Zunesha, the habitat of the Mink Tribe.

The elephant appeared to be migrating, each colossal step creating waves that shook the surrounding sea and rocked the ship.

"Incredible… I wonder what that giant elephant tastes like? I've heard the elephant stumps are a supreme delicacy!" Thatch remarked, eyes gleaming as he took in the sight.

'Really, Thatch? Are you channeling the spirit of some notorious chef?' Shin thought, shaking his head. Even with his current strength, facing Zunesha would be… a long battle. Around ten hours, to be precise.

But as this was the Mink Tribe's home, Shin had no intention of harming Zunesha simply to indulge in a culinary curiosity.

Fortunately, Thatch was merely musing aloud. Even Whitebeard himself wouldn't be reckless enough to attack such a creature.

Observing Zunesha, Shin had an idea. Rising into the air, he flew towards the giant elephant.

"Hey! Shin, you're not really going after the meat, are you? I was only joking!" Thatch called after him, astonished.

Shin rolled his eyes, shouting back, "Relax, I'm not that reckless. I'll just take a quick look and be back soon."

"Alright… Wait a second, how is he flying?" Thatch, initially relieved, suddenly noticed Shin was gliding through the air unaided.

A short while later, Shin returned, holding a small piece of paper in his hand.

"Is that a Vivre Card? Did you leave one on Zunesha ?" Thatch asked in surprise.

"Yes. I placed the main Vivre Card beneath its skin and then healed the wound," Shin replied with a nod. "Now it'll be easy to find this giant elephant whenever we need to."

"Ah, I see. That's smart," Thatch nodded, impressed. "It's rare for anyone to be able to locate the Mink Tribe, so having a way to track Zunesha will be invaluable."

'More than just that,' Shin thought to himself, recalling the red Poneglyph in the Mink Tribe's possession. But he kept that information to himself; sharing it would likely lead to unnecessary trouble.

Thatch eyed Shin curiously. "By the way, you seem different—taller, or maybe your presence got stronger. And you were flying just now. What's up with that?"

Shin cleared his throat. "I don't know exactly. My strength just seems to have improved a lot recently. Must be from all the training I've been doing."

"Oh, that makes sense," Thatch nodded, accepting the vague explanation.

Pirates were often nonchalant about the finer details. Even Thatch, who was more observant than most, quickly accepted Shin's casual answer.

After the giant elephant Zunesha slowly moved out of sight, the Fourth Division ships resumed their course, patrolling for another week before returning to the vicinity of Whitebeard's flagship, the Moby Dick.

Having acquired the Dark-Dark Fruit, Shin no longer needed to stay with the Fourth Division. This time, he devised an excuse to part ways with Thatch's crew.

Now, Shin planned to take direct action against Kaido. With his current power, he was unmatched by any of the known forces in this world. The hunting for Devil Fruits had officially begun, and he had no intention of being held back by the Division's movements.

However, he wasn't planning to venture out alone. This world was vast—possibly larger than the Naruto World—and navigating it alone would not be easy. Despite his strength, he lacked reliable navigation skills and would struggle to find specific locations.

At the very least, he needed a competent navigator who wouldn't get wiped out by stray attacks. Ideally, they'd have some combat skills too.

"Hmm… Now that I think of it, Ace's navigation skills aren't too shabby. And he's been itching to challenge Kaido in Wano, along with Yamato."

A slow smile spread across Shin's face. "Seems like it's time for me to join forces with Ace again."
