Naruto: Forbidden Pleasures

Chapter 5: Under the Starry Sky

Naruto closed the door to his apartment behind him and sighed deeply. The day had been exhausting, filled with training and heavy thoughts. Yet tonight, he had promised himself to make an effort. Heading to his closet, he grabbed a more casual outfit and got ready to leave. As he adjusted his forehead protector, a soft noise at his window caught his attention.

Turning around, he saw Ino crouched on the windowsill, a mischievous smile on her face. She tapped lightly on the glass, her face illuminated by the pale glow of the moon.

"Open up, lazybones," she said with a laugh.

Naruto opened the window, raising an eyebrow.

"You could've waited downstairs like a normal person, you know?"

Ino shrugged.

"Normal is boring. Besides, I came to make sure you weren't backing out."

Naruto grimaced, trying to hide a smile.

"I'm ready. No need to babysit me."

"Good, then let's go," she said, lightly hopping down to the balcony.

As they left the apartment, Naruto noticed that Ino seemed unusually cheerful.

"You're in a good mood," he remarked.

"Maybe I'm just excited to see Naruto Uzumaki relax for once," she replied with a wink.

The streets of Konoha were bathed in a gentle glow. Lanterns swayed softly in the breeze, casting warm light on the cobblestone paths. The stalls were lively: vendors shouted their offers, families strolled about, and the tempting aroma of ramen and skewers filled the air.

Naruto, hands behind his head, glanced idly around. However, Ino quickly broke the silence.

"So, have you heard the news?" she asked in a playful tone.

"What news?" he replied, giving her a curious look.

"Apparently, a new member is joining Team 7. Kind of a replacement for Sasuke."

Naruto's smile vanished instantly.

"No one will ever replace Sasuke," he muttered darkly.

Ino crossed her arms, looking a bit annoyed.

"It's not a replacement, Naruto. But you guys need reinforcement. Even you can't do everything alone."

He remained silent, his gaze fixed straight ahead. His jaw tightened slightly, betraying his inner turmoil.

"And what about Sasuke?" he finally said. "He's still our priority. I won't abandon him."

Ino sighed softly.

"Still as stubborn as ever... But that's also why people like you."

They eventually arrived at the meeting place: a small clearing decorated with strings of lights hanging from tree branches. Tables were loaded with food, and the laughter of other ninjas echoed through the night air.

Choji, true to himself, was immersed in a mountain of chips and skewers. Kiba laughed loudly as he played with Akamaru, before getting into a spat with Shikamaru, who looked visibly annoyed. Tenten was chatting with Neji, while Sakura sat off to the side, observing everything pensively.

"Kiba, calm down or you'll scare the guests!" Shikamaru said, rolling his eyes.

Seeing Naruto arrive, Kiba greeted him enthusiastically.

"Naruto! You finally decided to join us, huh?"

Naruto shrugged with a smile.

"Yeah, you could say that."

Choji, ever generous, handed him a skewer.

"Here, you must be starving after all that training."

Naruto accepted it gratefully. However, he felt Sakura's gaze on him. When he sat next to Ino, he noticed her slightly raised eyebrow but chose to ignore it.

The conversation soon turned to Sasuke, casting a shadow over the evening.

"I'm saying we need to find him," Sakura declared, her tone full of frustration. "Not replace him with someone random. His thirst for power drives me crazy, but..."

"He has his reasons," Kiba interjected, unusually serious.

Neji, who had been silent until then, spoke up.

"Pain often shapes a man's actions. He believes vengeance is his only path."

Naruto clenched his fists.

"Whatever his reasons, Sasuke is our friend. And I will never give up on him."

The discussions grew heated for a while, with everyone expressing their opinions passionately or otherwise. Finally, after hours, the gathering came to an end, and the shinobi began to disperse.

Naruto left the clearing before Ino, seeking solitude under the starry sky. He climbed the steps of a building and sat on the roof, his eyes fixed on the constellations above.

"Planning to stay here all night?"

He jumped, turning to see Ino climbing up gracefully. She sat beside him, her expression soft.

"I was just thinking," he said simply.

"About Sasuke?"

Naruto nodded.

"Sometimes I wonder if I'm doing everything I can to bring him back."

She placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.

"No one doubts you, Naruto. You might be the only one who still believes in him, but that's exactly what will make the difference."

Naruto looked at her, a slight smile on his lips.

"You think so?"

"I'm sure of it," she replied confidently.

A moment of silence passed. Ino finally stood up and held out a hand to him.

"Come on, get down from here. Thinking is fine, but there's no point in staying up here all night."

Naruto took her hand and stood up.

"Thanks, Ino. It feels good to talk."

"No problem. And next time, you'll be the one listening to me."

They left the roof together, walking side by side under a sky full of stars.

[...]

In a quiet street of Konoha, Jiraiya strolled with his hands in his pockets, watching the flickering lights of the lanterns. Even at this late hour, the village still hummed with a peaceful energy, punctuated by distant laughter and the murmur of the wind through the trees.

He suddenly stopped when he noticed a familiar figure. Tsunade was walking slowly, her head slightly bowed, clearly lost in thought.

A smile spread across the Sannin's face. "It's rare to see her alone at this hour." He approached her, his casual gait hiding a hint of curiosity.

"Well, who would've thought to find the legendary Tsunade-hime without her entourage or her imperious air?" he teased, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

Tsunade raised her head, surprised to see him, but her expression remained serious.

"Jiraiya… What are you doing here?"

"Me? Just enjoying the night. And you? You look like you're carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders," he replied, his tone playful but his gaze observant.

Tsunade turned away.

"It's nothing that concerns you."

Jiraiya wasn't deterred.

"You know what? A night like this calls for a celebration. Come have a drink with me."

"Not interested," she retorted instantly.

But he pressed on, his tone light as he stepped in her path.

"Come on, just one drink. You wouldn't let me drink alone, would you?"

Tsunade sighed, crossing her arms.

"You're annoying, you know that?"

"Of course, but that's why everyone loves me," he replied with a wink.

Eventually, she relented.

"Fine. One drink, Jiraiya. And don't even think about trying to change my mind."

They found themselves in a small, discreet tavern, a spot Jiraiya frequented often. The atmosphere was intimate, with dim lighting and sake flowing generously.

The conversation, light at first, gradually turned more personal. Jiraiya listened as she talked about the crushing responsibilities of being Hokage, her doubts, and her fears. He responded with jokes but also with sincere words, occasionally slipping in a touch of nostalgia about their past adventures.

Despite her initial reluctance, Tsunade began to relax. As the sake flowed, a more genuine smile appeared on her face. Eventually, after several drinks, she even burst out laughing at one of Jiraiya's exaggerated anecdotes.

When she was visibly drunk, Jiraiya stood up and helped her to her feet.

"Alright, time to get you home," he said softly, supporting her by the arm.

"Hmph… I can get home on my own," she muttered.

"No way. I wouldn't want the great Hokage stumbling on her way," he replied with a tender smile.

The walk to Tsunade's residence was quiet, punctuated by her tired grumbles and the occasional rare laugh. When they arrived, Jiraiya gently left her at her door.

"Thank you…" she murmured before disappearing inside.

Jiraiya stood there for a moment, his smile turning melancholic, before turning back to the starry night and walking away, alone.
