Chapter 99: Chapter 97: I Knew My Brother Loved Me the Most!
Chapter 97: I Knew My Brother Loved Me the Most!
For a moment, Uchiha Yi felt a flood of complicated emotions.
Karin's "teasing and playful" demeanor wasn't something she developed on her own. The root of it lay with Uchiha Yi himself.
As someone from the modern world, Uchiha Yi had a quirky, carefree personality. When he came across something amusing, his urge to crack jokes or throw out witty one-liners was irresistible.
And Karin, who loved clinging to him, naturally picked up on his habits. She mimicked him, learning from his remarks and phrases as if she were a curious child copying an adult.
At first, Yi found it hilarious. Karin's mimicry of his speech was entertaining, like watching a precocious three-year-old spouting grown-up words.
Seeing her enthusiasm, he started teaching her more—modern slang, internet expressions, and the art of sharp comebacks.
She absorbed it all like a sponge, quickly mastering his style and even innovating her own twists.
In the beginning, Yi didn't think much of it. He even encouraged her.
But as time went on, he realized something was off.
By the time it hit him, it was too late. Karin had fully evolved into an unstoppable force, becoming a T0-tier "teasing queen."
At this point, she had surpassed her mentor. If this were a competition, Karin was unquestionably in first place.
Yi was left laughing and crying at the irony.
Who would've thought that a casual whim to teach her a few fun phrases would unleash such a terrifying Pandora's box?
If this were modern society, he'd be the one held responsible!
Still, after thinking it over, Yi decided it wasn't all bad.
In a world as brutal as the ninja world, Karin's sharp tongue was a shield of sorts. If it prevented her from being taken advantage of or bullied, then what was there to complain about?
Better this than her original story arc, where she pined after Sasuke, only to be rejected, humiliated, and stabbed in return.
Even dogs wouldn't stoop to that level of treatment.
"Alright, that's enough. Stop crying now," Yi said, playing along with her theatrics.
"Look at them," he continued, glancing at the Konoha villagers. "Their clothes scream outdated and uncultured. There's no need to lower yourself to their level."
"Waaah! I knew my big brother loved me the most!" Karin exclaimed, her tears instantly vanishing as a radiant smile took their place.
The Konoha villagers standing around clenched their fists in frustration, their faces flushed red.
They were the victims here, yet somehow they were now the villains in everyone else's eyes.
What's worse, they had thought Uchiha Yi—a man of striking appearance and composed demeanor—might mediate the situation fairly.
But the first words out of his mouth had shattered that illusion.
Outdated? Uncultured?
The villagers instinctively compared their traditional attire to Uchiha Yi's trendy, modern look.
...And found themselves sorely lacking.
Their confidence deflated, they hung their heads, unable to argue.
Meanwhile, emboldened by Yi's support, Karin stuck her tongue out at Sasuke and his group, taunting them with a mischievous grin.
Naruto, red with fury, clenched his fists. "Hey, stop right there!" he shouted.
"You insulted Sasuke earlier! Apologize now!"
"Oh?" Karin turned, tilting her head mockingly. "And what if I don't? Are you going to hit me, little boy?"
Naruto's furious glare only seemed to amuse her more.
But before Karin could escalate the situation further, Yi stepped in.
"Oh?" Yi's tone turned cold as he fixed Naruto with an icy stare.
His crimson eyes glowed faintly, exuding a chilling pressure. For a moment, it felt as if death itself were looming over Naruto.
Naruto froze in place, his limbs trembling as an overwhelming fear gripped him.
The words he wanted to say caught in his throat, unable to escape.
"Hmph." Yi let out a disdainful snort before turning away.
He had no interest in wasting his time on a trivial spat, much less stooping to violence over something so petty.
Surrounded by the stunned crowd, Yi led Karin and the others away.
Only after they disappeared from view did the villagers dare to breathe again.
"That man... was terrifying. For a moment, I thought I was going to die," someone whispered.
"His eyes... they weren't human. They were like the eyes of a demon staring into my soul!"
"I heard he's one of the surviving Uchiha, but he's aligned with Amegakure now," another added.
"Honestly, screw Konoha. They pushed someone like him into the enemy's camp. What a joke!"
"With a guy like him, Amegakure will definitely surpass Konoha soon. It's only a matter of time!"
Hearing such remarks, the remaining Konoha villagers felt a wave of shame wash over them.
Angry and embarrassed, they silently cursed the late Hiruzen Sarutobi a thousand times over.
If only the old man hadn't made such blunders, Konoha wouldn't be in this state today.
"We should petition Lady Tsunade to erect a 'repentance monument' for those four elders," one villager suggested bitterly.
The idea quickly gained traction.
When the proposal reached Tsunade, she had no choice but to agree.
And so, in a prominent location within Konoha, four statues were erected.
Each one depicted the elders kneeling in repentance, holding signs listing their wrongdoings.
Of course, this was a story for another time.

"Damn that smug brat!"
After hearing a report of the incident, Tsunade clenched her fists, her face flushed with anger.
She knew Yi had a knack for pushing people's buttons, but his antics were utterly infuriating.
However, there was nothing she could do. Yi knew his limits and never crossed the line.
Had he wanted to, he could've easily destroyed Konoha again.
For now, all Tsunade could do was swallow her anger and let the matter rest.
But that didn't stop her from silently vowing revenge, hoping for the day she could finally humble the insufferable Uchiha.
