Naruto: Drinking Makes You Stronger

Chapter 22: [22] First Time Killing

It seemed like it was the first time they had ever faced such an unscrupulous opponent.

"What flower are you talking about ? Do you think this is just a game?" one of the Takinin ninjas sneered.

"Whoosh!"

With a mocking expression, one of the Takinin ninjas drew a kunai and rushed to stab Leo.

"Go to hell, kid! You shouldn't feel any pain after drinking so much, right? Is that what you drank for?" The Takinin ninja's eyes were filled with cruelty as he thrust the kunai toward Leo.

"He's dead, this kid," the Takinin "Big Brother" said with a grin. Finally, the arrogant kid who had been mouthing off would meet his end.

Another Takinin ninja looked a little confused. "Could it be that Konoha really sent a drunkard to die?" he wondered.

"Whoosh!"

The sound of the sharp blade cutting through flesh echoed.

"It's done!" the Takinin leader grinned.

"Wrong!"

The other Takinin's face suddenly drained of color, his eyes wide with disbelief.

"Why? How?" the Takinin ninja in front of Leo stammered, his body paralyzed with fear as he looked at Leo, who was now smiling in excitement.

The Takinin ninja remembered the two Konoha kids they had seen earlier at the Death Forest's entrance. Their eyes hadn't been filled with fear; they had been filled with the same look one might give a group of people walking to their doom.

This drunken kid hadn't come to die. The little red flowers on the heads of the Konoha ninjas weren't a joke—they were a safeguard to make sure Leo didn't kill the wrong person!

"Whoosh!"

A terrifying slash cut through the chest of the Takinin ninja, slicing him in half.

"WHAT?!!"

In the Konoha observation room, Fuguki Sukaizan ecstatic expression froze in shock.

He had never expected that kid, which had seemed on the verge of being killed by Takinin, would actually manage to kill the Takinin ninjas instead!

"Damn it, those useless Takinin... I knew it! We should have relied on the Kisame," Fuguki muttered, glaring at Jiraiya, his face darkening.

"What a quick strike. Truly worthy of the old man's protection," Jiraiya commented, his eyes filled with shock as he watched Leo on the screen.

The speed of that slash reminded him of only one person: "Konoha's White Fang," Hatake Sakumo!

But Leo was still under nine years old! Jiraiya found it hard to reconcile the kid he often saw at the bar buying wine with the one who displayed such incredible swordsmanship.

"As expected of Konoha's genius," Jiraiya thought, his respect for Leo increasing as he observed the stunned expressions of the other Shinobi.

At the same time, Leo looked at the remaining two Takinin ninjas, excitement gleaming in his eyes.

In Leo mind, these two were merely obstacles standing between him and more wine—he could change the wine and cut them down. What a perfect opportunity.

"How... How is this possible?" The Takinin leader's face turned pale as he stared at his fallen companion, disbelief written all over him.

He hadn't even seen how his companion had been killed. The kid's sword had still been sheathed—how could his partner have been cut in half?

"Monster!" the other Takinin ninja whispered in fear.

He could see that Leo's smile was genuine, filled with excitement. This kid was a monster who killed without hesitation.

"It's your turn now," Leo grinned at the two remaining Takinin ninjas.

This feeling of slaying people without care after drinking was truly exhilarating!

"Whoosh!"

Before the leader of Takinin could react, the other Takinin ninja, completely terrified, had already turned and fled.

"Dammit, I told you this monster was trouble. Why did you provoke it?" the fleeing Takinin cursed inwardly, his heart pounding with fear.

"Trying to run?"

Leo watched the fleeing ninja, his expression suddenly turning dissatisfied.

Why should anyone escape? He wanted them to stay still, just so he could finish them off.

Leo decided to add a little more to the fun.

Clang!

The sharp sound of Shusui unsheathing echoed through the forest.

The leader of Takinin froze, his body stiffening at the sound. As he looked toward Leo, he felt as though he were staring at a terrifying demon. Cold sweat poured down his face, and his legs trembled uncontrollably, yet his body was paralyzed with fear.

At that moment, all he could feel was regret. Why had he provoked this monster?

"Let's see if you're faster at running or if I'm faster with my slash."

With a swift movement, Leo swung Shusui.

Whoosh!

A flash of purple-black light cut through the air, forming a massive slash of sword aura that flew toward the fleeing Takinin ninja.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

The powerful sword aura created a strong air pressure as it flew, leaving deep marks on the surrounding trees. Leaves and branches were chopped to pieces, shattered by the sheer force of the slash.

The escaping Takinin ninja, sensing the terrifying pressure behind him, turned his head in horror and saw the deadly purple-black slash closing in on him.

"No!!!" he screamed, but his voice was drowned out by the sound of the blade slicing through the air.

Puff!

The slash tore through his body, blood spraying into the air as his limbs were severed.

A moment later, all that remained was a lifeless body, the fear in his eyes now replaced by an eerie silence.

"What... what the hell was that purple-black slash?" the leader of Takinin whispered in horror as he watched the blood and stumps falling from the sky.

He couldn't even comprehend what he had just witnessed. Someone could kill from a hundred meters away with just a sword?!

Everything that happened was beyond his understanding.

System Prompt:

Ding! After drinking, you killed one Takinin ninja. Physique +10, Chakra +10.

Ding! You killed one Takinin ninja after drinking. Swordsmanship comprehension +15.

Ding! Congratulations, you have completed your first kill after drinking.

Reward: Three types of Haki!

After the slash, the system's prompt sounded in Leo mind.

Ding! Congratulations to the Host for gaining Three Haki!

Leo's head was clearer after the battle. He focused on the system's message.

"Three Haki? That sounds like good stuff."

The battle had sobered him up a bit, and the realization of the reward hit him.

Three Haki consisted of three powerful abilities: Armament Haki, Observation Haki, and Conqueror's Haki.

Armament Haki greatly enhanced both offense and defense. In the world of Naruto, even Kage-level ninjas could be killed by ordinary ninjutsu, but with Armament Haki, Leo could resist most ninjutsu and even cover his sword to increase its lethality.

Observation Haki allowed Leo to perceive enemies beyond his field of vision, sensing their strength and movements. This was similar to the sensory abilities of a ninja but with a much broader range. At its peak, this ability could even predict the future for a short time.

Conqueror's Haki was the most powerful of the three. It could exert an overwhelming aura that would cause weaker individuals to faint in the presence of a king. In its ultimate form, it could even cause physical harm to the surroundings.

With the combination of three haki and Leo's swordsmanship, he had become an even more formidable force.

"These two are much better than that useless idiot with the soil,(obito)" Leo muttered, thoroughly satisfied with his first kill reward.

However, his satisfaction was soon overshadowed by his dissatisfaction with the "soil"—one of the later bosses in the story. After all, he had only received such a weak reward after slashing the boss.

For someone in the BOSS class, it was a disgrace to be rewarded so poorly!

"But these three Haki rewards are something to look forward to," Leo mused, the potential of his newly acquired abilities feeling endless.

Although he had only gained the entry-level of the three haki, he could already tell how powerful it would become with practice.

"After I get back, I'll need to train properly," Leo thought, nodding in satisfaction, though he couldn't remember how he had practiced his swordsmanship before.

"Huh? Did I forget something?" Leo scratched his chin, a bit puzzled. "I haven't drunk enough lately—my brain's a bit fuzzy."

Meanwhile, the leader of Takinin ninja, horrified, was practically paralyzed with fear, his whole body trembling.

Desperate, he silently prayed, hoping Leo wouldn't notice him.

But Leo's peripheral vision caught the leader, and he suddenly realized something.

"I almost forget about you," Leo muttered, looking over at the leader.

"Please, please don't kill me! I can give you the scroll!" The leader of Takinin pleaded, his voice trembling with terror.

Puff!

A bloodstain appeared on the leader's neck, his terrified expression freezing in place. A moment later, his body collapsed lifelessly to the ground.

"What do I want that scroll for?" Leo sheathed Shusui, indifferent.

He wasn't there to collect scrolls; he was there to kill.

System Prompt:

Ding! Host has killed one Takinin after drinking, Physique +10! Armament Haki +10!

Leo paused when he heard the system's prompt in his mind.

"Killing people... can it also enhance my armament haki?" he wondered, his eyes gleaming with excitement.

If killing people could enhance his armament haki, what about his other abilities—Observation Haki, Conqueror's Haki?

"Practice? Why bother? Isn't it much more satisfying to just kill people?" Leo thought, grinning to himself as he walked toward the dense forest with Shusui in hand.

Meanwhile, in the Konoha observation room, there was silence. The village leaders and representatives stared at the screen in disbelief.

"A flying slash," muttered one of the higher-ranking Shinobi from Hidden rain Village, his voice tinged with fear.

The sight of the slash left an indelible mark on him. The Land of Rain had been the main battlefield during the Second Ninja War, where a peerless power had risen.

Konoha's terrifying killer: Konoha White Fang.

As the name left the lips of the Rain ninja, his entire body shook with fear. The memory of that time haunted him, a nightmare from their past.

"It's incredible. No wonder the old man has been protecting him so fiercely," Jiraiya commented, his voice filled with awe.

He had specifically looked into Leo's background, and what he learned struck him. No one had ever taught Leo swordsmanship. That meant he had trained himself to wield this terrifying power.

Monster. There was no other word to describe him.

Even his close friend, Orochimaru, at this age, hadn't demonstrated such exaggerated strength.

"Konoha is hiding his talents too well," Fuguki muttered to himself, his teeth clenched in frustration.

"Kisame, there shouldn't be any problems, right?" Fuguki asked, trying to steady his own nerves, a grin creeping across his face.
