Naruto: Binding Uchiha Sasuke, Hundredfold Return

As the new leader here, Sasuke didn't make any significant moves.

Disguised under a hood, Orochimaru approached the ninja guarding the entrance to the Root and said in his hoarse voice,

"Inform Danzo that I have arrived."

The guard blinked, his face a mask of confusion. "Ah? Who are you?"

Orochimaru was speechless for a moment. He cast a sidelong glance at the unfamiliar guard.

Was the gatekeeper replaced recently?

Just as he was about to prove his identity, the guard continued,

"Oh, and there's no Danzo-sama at the Root anymore. Only 0-sama!"

Orochimaru's mind raced, uncertain of how to react.

Danzo Shimura! I helped you become Hokage. You better not have lost your position already!

Orochimaru paused, then asked, "Where is Danzo?"

"Danzo-sama has gone to become Hokage. If you want to see Danzo-sama, you'll have to go to the Hokage Building!"

Orochimaru let out a sigh of relief.

So, Danzo had indeed become Hokage, and this 0-sama seemed to be one of his confidants managing the Root.

However, this 0 didn't seem to hold much respect for Sasuke.

Orochimaru could tell from the guard's demeanor that 0 didn't seem to revere Sasuke. Perhaps handing over control of the Root to this 0 wasn't Danzo's smartest decision.

Looking back, Orochimaru wondered if Danzo could still offer him the leadership of the Root. Even though his status as a wanted criminal meant he had no official power in Konoha, he still hoped for some influence.

As Orochimaru glanced towards the depths of the Root, he suddenly felt a familiar presence.

"Huh? Orochimaru?"

Orochimaru was taken aback to sense the aura from Ryūchi Cave here. He hadn't left his ninjutsu at the Root for backup, so no one should be able to summon it.

In Konoha, the only ones capable of summoning the snakes were Uchiha Sasuke and Anko Mitarashi.

Could one of them be inside?

That meant it was Uchiha Sasuke who had summoned the snake inside the Root!

Why is Uchiha Sasuke here?

Could it be that this 0 had captured him?

Since Sasuke was his intended successor, Orochimaru didn't want any harm to come to him. Changing his plan to confront Danzo directly, he turned to the guard and said,

"Please inform 0-sama that Orochimaru is here!"
