Naruto: Battling the Five Kage, the System is Late

Chapter 3: Chapter 3

"After all that stalling, it's time to send you on your way!"

The burly, dark-skinned First Raikage, Ai, stomped heavily on the ground, his impatience palpable.

A massive surge of lightning-style chakra enveloped his entire body. Like a streak of blinding blue lightning, he appeared beside Hagoromo Gengetsu with an ear-piercing sonic boom.

Lightning Style: Heavy Impact Flow!

Chakra concentrated around Ai's thick elbow as he twisted his torso, launching a devastating strike aimed directly at Gengetsu's forehead.

Along with the attack came a furious roar:

"Die!"

The winds howled, and thunder roared.

Hagoromo Gengetsu, his black hair whipped into disarray by the storm, remained calm. Watching Ai's approach with detached eyes, he spoke softly:

"What's the rush?"

As soon as the words fell—

Smack!

A slender hand reached out and rested lightly against Ai's incoming elbow.

And then—

The winds stilled. The thunder fell silent.

All at once, the battlefield returned to an eerie calm.

Ai, now mere inches away, raised his head to meet the unwavering gaze of Gengetsu. His attack had been effortlessly halted by a hand as unyielding as steel. Ai's pupils shrank slightly in shock.

"Steel Release..."

Not far away, the First Kazekage, Rettō, narrowed his eyes, his voice tinged with unease as he named the ability.

Chakra nature transformation was generally divided into fire, wind, lightning, water, earth, yin, and yang. Combining two chakra natures created new techniques known as Kekkei Genkai, or bloodline limits.

Only a rare few shinobi could develop their own Kekkei Genkai, and once created, these abilities were encoded in their genes, passed down through bloodlines to future generations.

It was no wonder Rettō, as a village leader, wasn't normally intimidated by Kekkei Genkai.

But what if their opponent wielded not just one?

As Rettō pondered this, a pained roar snapped him back to reality.

Turning his gaze forward, he saw Ai's massive body being launched like a rocket, crashing violently into the distance.

"The Raikage... as reckless as ever."

With his grip still on Ai's elbow, Gengetsu commented coolly. Before Ai could counter, Gengetsu moved faster than his opponent could react, delivering a punch that sent the First Raikage flying.

But he wasn't done.

Under the watchful eyes of the other four Kage, Gengetsu vanished like a phantom, reappearing beside the airborne Ai in less than a blink.

Just as he raised an elbow to return the favor with a devastating strike to Ai's head, a stern voice cut through the tension.

"Wind Style: Crushing Pressure!"

A dense, high-pressure wind jutsu burst forth from Rettō, more powerful than any ordinary shinobi could conjure.

Gengetsu looked up to see a massive, compressed vortex of wind bearing down on him like an apocalyptic force.

As expected of the founder of Sunagakure, the shinobi who ruled the sands with overwhelming might. Just this one technique alone was leagues above those of later Kazekage generations.

Facing this, Gengetsu's expression remained calm. He shifted his hold, grabbing the burly Ai and using him as a shield.

"Don't underestimate the Raikage, you bastard!"

Recovering quickly, Ai roared furiously, unleashing even more chakra comparable to that of a tailed beast.

Lightning Release Armor!

His short, black hair bristled as if he were a Saiyan transforming, and Ai erupted with peak power. Breaking free of Gengetsu's grip, he paid no mind to the wind jutsu rapidly approaching. Instead, he turned his unrelenting fury onto Gengetsu, hammering at him with a flurry of wild strikes.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The battlefield shook with an unending cascade of deafening explosions.

"So fast!"

On the fringes of the battlefield, five shinobi observed the clash with wide eyes. These were the attendants of the Kage—future successors, currently acting as guards.

Watching the escalating battle between Hagoromo Gengetsu and the First Raikage, Ai, the five couldn't help but marvel.

For most of them, stepping onto that battlefield would mean instant defeat.

Well, most of them.

The Second Tsuchikage-to-be, clad in bandages and a gray vest, carrying two swords on his back, cast a sidelong glance at the silver-haired Senju Tobirama beside him.

If that man, the fastest shinobi in the world, joined the fray, he'd match them—or maybe even surpass them, he thought.

Konoha truly had no shortage of talent.

Senju Tobirama ignored the glance, his arms crossed as he studied Hagoromo Gengetsu with a gleam of fascination.

"Steel Release, Swift Release, and other Kekkei Genkai mentioned in the reports... Truly worthy of being called a peer to Hashirama. To develop so many bloodline limits on his own..."

"I'd love... to study him in depth."

...

Boom!

A massive shockwave erupted, centered on the two combatants.

Hagoromo Gengetsu took a few steps back, shaking out his hand as if easing a slight burn.

This Raikage wasn't ordinary.

Even with his Steel Release, Gengetsu's body was feeling the strain. The man's overwhelming physical strength and resilience were no joke.

As Rettō's massive wind jutsu approached, Gengetsu cast a brief glance toward the distance, sensing a gaze he found particularly irksome.

Clapping his hands together, he ignored the rabidly charging Ai and declared flatly:

Lava Release: Corrosive Monster Technique.

Out of nowhere, thick, viscous, highly corrosive acid began materializing around Gengetsu.

The acid formed a protective membrane around him, while simultaneously surging outward like an erupting volcano.

Ai's face twisted as he quickly retreated, the corrosive nature of the attack forcing even his fearless persona to adopt caution.

His massive form disappeared into the distance just as Rettō's wind jutsu collided with the corrosive tide.

The collision of the two techniques wreaked havoc across the battlefield, obliterating everything within a hundred-meter radius.

The area became a wasteland where ordinary shinobi couldn't hope to survive.

But those present were anything but ordinary.

Ai reappeared beside the other Kage, peeling off his tattered Raikage robe. He stood silently, watching the aftermath of the collision.

He didn't believe for a second that Gengetsu had been taken down so easily.

Neither did the others.

Excluding Senju Hashirama, the four Kage exchanged glances.

It was time to go all out. This battle needed to end swiftly.
