Chapter 10: -An Acquittance?-
There, having encountered the swarm first, also one of their pursuers. The Hollow rotting corpse was devoured with nothing but skeletal bones remaining in an instant.
But further quaking their heart…
The skeleton didn't collapse but turned into an undead with red dark eyes staring straight at them.
But to their relief, for some unknown reason, the black swarm with poking red lights here and there, happened to stop their chase as they buzzed monotonously without flying forward.
'Could it be a miracle?' Some thought as they stared in trance as their pursuer got faraway, only to be rocked to a forceful halt a moment later... But none could complain, the retracting path that had been rumbling all along brought them to a dead end.
Behind them, there was no return, even if they were somehow able to walk on walls like reptiles there was a big chance that a vile trap was planted nearby waiting for them to unset it. They leaving behind nothing but a gore scene.
'This…' Flynn inhaled, appalled by the pitch darkness that had once been hidden by the floor of the passage.
Not only thrown into a haze of thoughts, but shaken to the core.
There was silence, no one spoke, keeping their thoughts to themselves, except for the girl with a piece of cloth covering half her face.
'Hey' Flynn heard a tender soft voice intrude his thoughts, showing visible tense, his eyes instantly locked onto the veiled girl as she just happened to be the only one staring at him at the moment.
'Friendly' as if affirming her identity, the girl gave a curt nod that went unnoticed by the others, while also speaking for the second time in his head.
Meeting his stern eyes that seem to express how unsettled and discomforted he felt at her strange abilities with a dissuasive smile hidden beneath her mask .
Apparently not having taken her word for it, he alertedly observed her. But only to raise his brows the next moment with questioning glint in his eyes.
'Right, I almost forgot to take note of her eyes' he reprimanded himself remembering what happened in the passage.
Red blazers, sky blue shirt, navy blue plaid skirt, and a pair of similar legging worn beneath, every perimeter necessary to identify a student of Fortunate Royals, the fifth ranked Highschool in Death Singer City, also a schoolmate.
'We are on the same side, I'm Amelia from Bermuda Class, you don't need to be worried, can't read your mind, can only send words, can't receive response in the same manner. It's one of the abilities granted by my Will… You almost had a taste of the other earlier. Sure, I know I'm releasing too much information for a first timer but you have to listen to me. Possibly, you are the only possible ally I can get, same with you, if you have noticed…' pausing for a few seconds, she seemed to wait for him to digest all she had said a bit before continuing.
'I saw you appear earlier, meaning you just passed your Tribulation and have no clue of where we are or what's going on.'
'Sorry to burst your bubbles, everyone apart from you ended theirs 3 days ago and were thrown into this living hell not long after…'
'Here are what we've discovered. It seems to be a newly emerged Ruin from the Egyptian History, a tomb, pyramid. We probably inside one of either.'
'We were 11 once, two died foolishly and the rest from devilish booby traps and all, leaving bloody gruesome sights.'
'For every new turn there was a death to ascertain the lives of the rest of us.'
'When a trap is triggered and someone dies, the rest can be at peace until they take a new path.'
'Also we've encountered about ten Hollows, about ninety nine percent of them were Count Level Bearers all turned into dead living rotting corpses. Apparently, a guess of mine is that nothing truly dies here. That undead skeleton of Kelvin confirmed it.'
And sure enough, there was a look of recognition in Flynn's eyes upon hearing Kelvin, who used to be his distant sit buddy he occasionally communicated with, than the rest of the class.
Also the gears in his head kicked instantly into who the girl was. Amelia was a common girl name to begin with, so he hadn't thought to try figure out who she was as there were many of those throughout the school. And the one he was familiar with, despite sharing the same complexion didn't share the same figure at all… Well, sure her breast may have felt bountiful but not that he had felt her back then either.
The fat ebony girl who usually ate all sorts of Junkies, despite being mocked and laughed at for such. It had been a shock when she braved up and chose to face the Tribulation.
But even with all that exercise when they had been trained to be determined. Her body barely reduced in size.
The last time he saw her she wasn't any much different either.
'An overnight weight reduction?'
' Probably not.' Though years usually went by while facing Tribulation, it was barely more than a month in real life, rarely was it more than that. Bodies weren't put to work during that time either.
As if having noticed his ever-changing expression with incredulous eyes, a cold voice suddenly spoke in his mind. She didn't choose to talk about her identity but rather said something that made him turn stern.
'My points should have been enough to bring us to the same page… Flynn without glasses sure looks different.' she added, making him realize she knew who he was.
'Important matters first, back there Kelvin had been tricked then pushed to turn into that corner by the pompous looking girl from Eton, and the older guy from Imperials, the white haired boy who looks timid should be same age as us, although from Imperials, he seems intimidated by the other guy, often doings his bindings.
His ability is the main reason there are still four of us. He can Summon a Terracota to fight, the last one he summoned was quite durable to withstand a few blows from the Swarm. The girl's Will seems to argument her physical prowess quite well but so far she's never revealed her limit.'
'The guy on the other hand has never revealed any traits of his Will, he became the unopposed leader by social background by our earlier group who seemed submissive to him… Oh, he and the girl also share a thing for each other.'
Just then, the silence was suddenly distilled as the older guy named Alex stood up, under Flynn's watchful eyes, followed by a short howl of wind that converged into a tiny longsword brought towards his neck in an instant.
'Who are you?"
