My System Lives in the Future! (Soul Land Fanfiction)

Chapter 7: 1 - 7

Chapter 7 - After You Beat the Younger Ones, Here Comes the Older One!

What Xiao Tian hadn't realize yet was that his thought had once more reinforced his resolute determination to tread the path of sword cultivation, which caused his sword intent to rapidly grow and become more saturated.

Tang San's gaze deepened as he watched Xiao Tian leave. His lips tightened slightly, his thoughts swirling. 'That sword intent and his mastery of techniques before obtaining a soul ring—it's extraordinary. But Xiao Tian... is he truly a natural genius?'

Tang San carefully replayed the events in his mind: the sword-controlling skill Xiao Tian used in their duel, the shadow swords soul skill, and the light-footed footwork that bore an uncanny resemblance to his lightness skill, however, most importantly, the intense, almost tangible sword intent Xiao Tian exuded.

Could Xiao Tian, like himself, also be someone who had crossed worlds? The thought unsettled him.

He recalled his past life as a Tang Sect's outer disciple and his occasional encounters with sword cultivators during missions. True sword intent, however, was rare—something only top-tier martial artists could achieve.

Yet, Xiao Tian had shown such mastery at just six years old.

It was very likely that Xiao Tian was a disciple of a sword sect in his previous life, so his understanding of the sword was so deep that he had already mastered the sword intent at the age of six!

'If Xiao Tian really is like me... was he also a disciple of some elite sword sect in his past life?' Despite his suspicions, Tang San restrained himself from jumping to conclusions.

He needed to confirm three things:

1. Was Xiao Tian reincarnated like himself, with memories of a previous life?

2. If so, did Xiao Tian come from the same world he did?

3. Could Xiao Tian become a trustworthy ally? If not, following Tang Sect rules, a potential threat must be neutralized early.

As Xiao Tian and Xiao Wu walked toward the city, he tested the waters. "Xiao Wu, you're already at level ten of soul power. After you get your first soul ring, can't you just go to the Spirit Hall branch in Nuoding City to claim your stipend? A gold soul coin would last us quite a while."

His tone was casual, but he was carefully observing Xiao Wu's reaction.

Xiao Wu's cheerful mood instantly darkened. Her smile faded, and a trace of coldness appeared in her expression. "I'll never go to Spirit Hall for a stipend. They're up to no good. Why do you have such a high opinion of Spirit Hall, Xiao Tian?"

Xiao Tian noticed the sudden shift in her demeanor, he even felt a chill up his spine, but remained unfazed. "Why? Because Spirit Hall helped the commoners, like me, awaken their martial souls for free and even provided subsidies."

Despite the internal conflict in the upper echelons of Spirit Hall, he was still very grateful for its continued existence. Not only had it helped civilians awaken their martial souls for free, but they could also receive a considerable stipend every month.

However, when he thought of Spirit Hall, he became speechless as he got reminded of Bibi Dong's attitude towards Yu Xiaogang. Her obsession was almost insane, but it was none of his business. Xiao Tian thought that she was a lost cause.

But he digressed. Returning to Xiao Wu, Xiao Tian looked aheadand continued, "That alone is enough reason to warrant my high opinion. If I can't acknowledge that, wouldn't I just be an ungrateful person? Besides, holding resentment won't benefit my swordsmanship in the slightest."

Finally, looking at her again, he voiced out his thought, "I don't know why you seem dislike Spirit Hall, and frankly, I don't care. After all, we've only known each other for less than a day."

Xiao Wu was stunned by his blunt response. She hadn't expected such a straightforward and logical explanation.

True, Spirit Hall had done much for commoners like Xiao Tian. It made sense for him to feel grateful. She realized she was letting her personal emotions cloud her judgment and decided to hold her tongue.

But Xiao Wu couldn't help recalling an unpleasant memory: she was hiding in the bushes as a child and witnessing her mother being killed and her soul ring and bone taken. Her eyes turned red as the haunting image resurfaced.

Xiao Tian, noticing the sudden gloom in her expression and the tears spilling from the corner of her eyes, frowned. "Hey, uh, Xiao Wu, are you okay? I just said it casually—no need to cry."

Xiao Wu quickly wiped her eyes and puffed her chest, trying to regain her composure. "Who said I'm crying? Once I get my first soul ring, I'll spar with you again. This time, I'll make you call me Sister Xiao Wu!"

Her fighting spirit reignited, the quick changes in mood caught Xiao Tian slightly off guard. Women were unpredictable.

He mused inwardly, 'Well, this is unexpected. At least she's now focusing on her cultivation. That's better than wasting time with Tang San and ultimately sacrificing herself for him.'

Xiao Tian knew that Xiao Wu's mother wasn't actually killed by Bibi Dong but had been mortally wounded by a powerful soul beast while searching for her husband. If Bibi Dong had truly been responsible, with her Titled Douluo-level mental power, she would have easily detected Xiao Wu hiding nearby.

It didn't really make sense for Bibi Dong to let Xiao Wu escape, especially when she could have just captured and raised her in captivity for future use. This discrepancy was worth pondering.

[Ding! Warning! The God of Slaughter and Lord of the Douluo Star Plane, Tang Hao is within a 500-meter radius of the host. Please be cautious! The host was advised not to provoke Tang San and Xiao Wu, and now you've done it. First, you beat the younger ones, and now here comes the older one!]

[This system recommends immediate use of the Space Shuttle Jade Talisman to immediately relocate, travel to a faraway land, and develop yourself in secret!]

The system's voice abruptly rang out in Xiao Tian's mind.

Xiao Tian froze. 'Tang Hao? Why would he be here? Shouldn't he be watching over Tang San instead of me? Wait... is it really Xiao Wu he's after? Is the theory of him grooming Xiao Wu for future soul ring of Tang San true?'

He glanced at Xiao Wu, whose fighting spirit remained high, and couldn't help feeling a pang of sympathy. 'Out of all the places you could have chosen, why Nuoding City?'

The Star Dou Forest was stretched across the two empires, and Nuoding Academy was quite far from the Heaven Dou Empire's border. How had Xiao Wu even made it here?

But Xiao Tian quickly shook off the thought.

His attention shifted to the system's phrasing. Why did the crazy system always address Tang Hao as 'the Lord of the Douluo Star Plane'?

'Isn't that title... a bit too much?'
