My Manor

Chapter 387: Chapter 386: Solution

"Ah, who's special? Who's special? What should we do? Is this a dead end?" Jiang Hai muttered, patting his forehead as he gazed at the chandelier on the ceiling in frustration.

"Actually, it's simple to solve. You just need to announce how to raise cattle," Bernice, sitting beside him, replied calmly, glancing at him. It was clear she didn't take the situation too seriously.

In Bernice's opinion, the arm cannot twist the thigh. If Jiang Hai really had some secret method, then if the U.S. government wanted it, he could simply announce it. However, Jiang Hai's expression was like that of someone struggling with constipation.

"The problem is, it can't be announced." Jiang Hai sighed, helplessly looking at Bernice.

"If it's like your disease-curing method, which can't be made public, you can divert attention. For example, set up your own research lab and study why your cows mutated. You know the saying 'The thief cries, "Catch the thief!"' If the higher-ups send someone to investigate, let them. Since you'll be so cooperative, they won't bother you too much for the sake of influence," Bernice suggested, raising an eyebrow.

"Is this your idea of a fundamental solution?" Jiang Hai asked, blinking in surprise. Then, his eyes suddenly lit up. Yes, if he kept quiet about the secret, people would think he had some special method, but if he clarified that he didn't know, anyone interested could come and study it. That way, there would be no need for confusion.

After all, the U.S. government still maintained a protective image. It wasn't that Jiang Hai didn't want to reveal the secret, it's just that he didn't have one. By making that clear, it would be much easier. They'd be less likely to use overly aggressive methods on him.

"This is a solution, but it might be a little tricky. A research institute is expensive," Bernice added calmly.

"No, no, the cost of the research institute is high, but it could also be a way to make money." Jiang Hai shook his head. When it came to schemes, he might not be the quickest, but when it came to making money, his mind worked fast.

The main purpose of the research institute was to protect Jiang Hai's cows and divert attention away from him. At most, people would just find that his pasture was especially good, but no one would suspect him.

But besides that, the research institute could also make him money. For example, if tourists came to visit the research institute, it could become a tourist attraction. Moreover, the institute could help him raise cattle more scientifically and even distribute new breeds.

Although expensive, it was clear that this would benefit Jiang Hai in the long run.

"Do you know any biologists? Help me find one to open a research institute," Jiang Hai said seriously, looking at Bernice.

"Forget about the people I know. They're all focused on humans. No matter how valuable your cows are, they won't want to come because they'll feel insulted. You'll have to pick someone yourself," Bernice replied, leaving Jiang Hai speechless. Indeed, asking a doctor who treated humans to treat dogs would be insulting. The same applied to cows.

"By the way, where does Cindy live? I'll visit her tomorrow." Seeing Jiang Hai's troubled expression, Bernice asked casually.

Jiang Hai gave her Cindy Clive's address without hesitation.

"Even the Lian family knows about it. Seems like you're really in trouble. By the way, how did you get to know Cindy?" Bernice asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Well, at first, it was because the town primary school collapsed under heavy snow. As a member of Winthrop, I donated some money. That's when I officially met Cindy Clive. Then, she heard I'd never been to Boston, so she volunteered to be my guide. And... Wait a minute, I think I know someone who studies cattle!" Jiang Hai suddenly remembered something, pounding his fist in realization.

"Ah? You know?" Bernice asked, her interest piqued.

"Thank you so much!" Jiang Hai slapped her on the shoulder before rushing upstairs to check. If he remembered correctly, those researchers should be in Boston...

Meanwhile, in a coffee shop in the imperial capital, the atmosphere grew tense.

"Do you like money so much? You sold your body and soul for it! Do you have no shame? I came to find you, and you say this? You stinky cousin, how could I be so blind to fall for you, a green tea?" Yu Hongzhi shouted as Ai Xiaoxi was about to leave.

His shout caused everyone in the coffee shop, including the workers, to turn and stare. Ai Xiaoxi was known to be young, beautiful, and energetic. People in the building generally liked her, especially the men who admired women in their early twenties. But now, as she made a fool of herself, the onlookers couldn't hide their excitement. The women were also amused to see her embarrassed.

Feeling the stares, Ai Xiaoxi, who had been pretending to remain calm, started to panic.

"Let go. I'm not your girlfriend anymore. You don't need to care about my business," she said, disgusted.

"Right, it's none of my business. There are plenty of people who will take care of you. When they told you to kneel, you didn't dare. When they told you to use your mouth, you didn't dare to use your hands. When you were with me, you pretended to be a saint, but now, after only three months, you've become so capable. Are you willing to be a slave to those rich people? You want money? Come on, I have money too. Come anytime!" Yu Hongzhi shouted, his madness escalating as more people gathered.

"You bastard! Get away from me!" Ai Xiaoxi screamed, stepping on Yu Hongzhi's foot. Though it hurt him, he didn't let go. Instead, he raised his hand to slap her.

"You bitch! You dare step on me? I'll beat you to death!" As Yu Hongzhi raised his hand to strike, a figure suddenly dashed forward. By the time Ai Xiaoxi blinked, Yu Hongzhi was kicked far away and held by two large men. No matter how much he struggled, it was clear he couldn't move.

Ai Xiaoxi instinctively took a step back, but someone pushed her, startling her. She spun around to see a woman standing behind her, about her height, but older and much more imposing, dressed in an OL suit.

"Are you Ai Xiaoxi? Where is Feng Yunchen?" the woman asked coldly, eyeing Ai Xiaoxi with a stern look.

"Sister Chen... is not here. Do you have something to do with her?" Ai Xiaoxi lied, sensing the woman's intimidating presence.

Before the woman could respond, Feng Yunchen entered the shop, having run up after hearing about the fight. She had parked her car and, in her haste, had even taken off her heels. But upon seeing the woman before Ai Xiaoxi, she froze, recognizing her immediately.

"Hello, we meet again. I heard you went to Jiang Hai's place. Oh, and this. Looks like you've made up your mind. Want to come talk to me?" the woman said to Feng Yunchen, her tone unwavering.

"Can I refuse?" Feng Yunchen asked, still a little defensive but clearly resigned.

"Of course not. Come on, pack your things and tell their boss. Let's go. I'll treat you to beef. You must miss the taste, don't you?" The woman smiled lightly, gesturing for someone to go upstairs. Feng Yunchen and Ai Xiaoxi exchanged a look before putting on their shoes and following her out.
