My Manor

Chapter 372: Chapter 371: Awkward Morning

"No, you can't go to the hospital." But who would have thought that when Selena, already in a frenzy, heard the word "hospital," she actually sobered up a bit and shouted loudly. Hearing her words, Jiang Hai could understand her concerns. After all, she was a public figure. If she went to the hospital and was caught, it would be hard to explain.

Going to a club and getting drugged would not only cause trouble for her, but it could also bring trouble to Pra Walton, the club, and even herself. But if she didn't go to the hospital, would this situation always persist? Jiang Hai couldn't help but feel a headache coming on.

"There's a good hotel ahead, don't hesitate, just do it." Seeing the confusion on Jiang Hai's face, the third sister thought he didn't want to miss this opportunity to avoid the hospital. She decided to help him out. With a turn of her eyes, she led him to a motel.

The car had just parked when the third sister quickly went to get a room, leaving Jiang Hai and the South Vietnamese girl with Selena. When they entered, they found that the third sister had booked a large room.

Jiang Hai was still hesitating, thinking of putting her in the room and then leaving for another one. But just as he threw Selena onto the bed, she suddenly jumped up and hugged him tightly.

"Help me." Her eyes were blurry, and from the conversation she overheard between Jiang Hai and the two women, she knew that if she wanted to shake off this disgusting feeling, only Jiang Hai could help her.

"I... I can't do anything." Jiang Hai was conflicted, feeling as though her body was melting into his.

"You can do it, I... don't hate you." It wasn't love, but Jiang Hai understood that she was being truthful. Their relationship wasn't one of love, but for Selena, who had to resort to this, it was easier to give herself to someone who didn't hate her than to someone else. She preferred giving herself to Jiang Hai because it would make it easier to part ways afterward.

After finishing her words, Selena pressed her lips against Jiang Hai's.

Surprised by her heat, Jiang Hai stood frozen. The two girls who had brought them in smiled and prepared to leave, but before they did, Jiang Hai waved for them to stay a moment. While handling things with Selena, he also took out the remaining money he had.

Jiang Hai had changed 200 twenty-dollar bills. He had spent about 60 of them already, so only 140 were left. He handed all the remaining bills to the two women. Though they hadn't come out for the money, they didn't refuse it when offered.

After handing over the key and locking the door, they left, and Jiang Hai locked the room.

Sometimes, Jiang Hai couldn't help but appreciate people who were more loyal.

Once the door was locked, Selena Gomez lost the last trace of her reason.

A wild night unfolded in that small hotel. It wasn't until after three in the morning, when the sun began to rise, that they finally calmed down and fell asleep.

No one knew how long they slept. Jiang Hai woke up from a dream when he felt someone watching him. As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw a pair of large eyes staring at him—Selena Gomez, the woman with whom he had a complicated relationship after last night.

Seeing Jiang Hai look at her, Selena's face turned red with embarrassment.

"Uh, good morning." Jiang Hai felt awkward. What kind of greeting was that? Was "good morning" really the first thing two naked people should say when they woke up?

"Hmph, good morning." Selena smiled at him, and they fell into another awkward silence. Neither knew what to say next. After a while, Selena pulled the quilt around her and sat up. Despite everything that had happened the night before, she wasn't about to reveal herself again that morning.

"I'm leaving. I have to go back to practice singing." Hearing her, Jiang Hai sat up as well.

"Oh, okay…" Selena said softly, then picked up the clothes scattered on the floor, putting them on while Jiang Hai stayed silent.

"Call me when you have time. I'm leaving first…" Standing at the door, Selena glanced back at Jiang Hai before softly saying those words. Their relationship was definitely a bit complicated now.

Watching Selena leave, Jiang Hai hesitated, feeling that he should do something. He quickly got dressed and decided to chase after her.

Thankfully, the room had already been paid for by the two women last night, so Jiang Hai just returned the key and followed her.

By the time he went downstairs, Selena had just reached the parking lot. Jiang Hai quickly started the engine.

"Where are you going? I'll take you," he offered, opening the passenger seat.

"No, I'll just take a taxi back." Selena shook her head. It was clear that the situation between them was awkward, and if they had to share a small car, the atmosphere might freeze.

"Let's go, I have nothing to do." Jiang Hai wasn't someone to give up easily. He shook his head and said firmly. After a moment, Selena bit her lip, nodded, and climbed into the passenger seat. She fastened her seatbelt, and the two drove off.

"Where are you going?" Jiang Hai asked, glancing at Selena as he drove.

He knew that it was unlikely they would be together. After all, his lifestyle probably wasn't what she'd want. She was a star—a big one. While she wasn't a global superstar, she was close. It wouldn't be too much of an exaggeration to call her a first-line celebrity. She lived under the spotlight, and Jiang Hai knew he couldn't let his woman live a life where she was constantly busy and only saw him as a place for rest.

Jiang Hai wasn't a fan of attention. He preferred his quiet life. But, he also couldn't deny the things that had happened between him and Selena last night.

"I'm going to the studio in Brooklyn," Selena said softly.

"Okay, I'll turn on the navigation," Jiang Hai said, figuring out he didn't know his way around New York well enough to rely on himself. The navigation was a lifesaver.

Following the GPS, Jiang Hai drove out of Manhattan and onto the Brooklyn Bridge.

The Brooklyn Bridge, along with the Manhattan Bridge and the Williamsburg Bridge, is one of New York's most famous landmarks. From the bridge, the Statue of Liberty can be seen, adding to its beauty.

There was a lot of traffic on the bridge. As they drove, they soon encountered a traffic jam.

Neither Jiang Hai nor Selena was in a hurry, but the silence between them was still thick. The only sound in the car was the navigation.

"Um, can I call you Selena?" Jiang Hai finally spoke, after hesitating for a while.

"Of course, we're friends… right?" Selena replied, then seemed to hesitate. If they were friends, what had happened last night would be hard to explain.

"Heh, come to think of it, we've met many times." Jiang Hai noticed her hesitation but chose to ignore it, continuing the conversation.

"Yeah, we've met many times. The first time I met you, you stood up for me," Selena chuckled, recalling their first encounter.

"That time, I didn't know you, I was just upset with Justin Bieber," Jiang Hai explained with a shrug.

"Haha, a lot of people are upset with him, but you're the first one who's managed to make him so miserable. That jerk," Selena laughed, her interest in Jiang Hai sparked by her ex-boyfriend.

"Hey, everyone's made mistakes in love. You get used to it," Jiang Hai said with a smile.

"Have you fallen for the wrong person before? Aren't you married?" Selena asked, sensing that Jiang Hai's marriage was a mistake, a relationship where neither person really loved the other.

"Hey, I'm a grown man, of course I've had my share of mistakes in love!" Jiang Hai said, waving his hand dismissively.

"Have you fallen for the wrong person? Tell me about it!" Selena's curiosity piqued as she leaned forward, eager to hear more.
