My First Step Towards Power Began When I Married Vados

Chapter 20: Fury & Fear

The broken space was pitch-black and unsettling, stretching into a darkness that defied comprehension. Fierce winds of void energy howled through the cracks in reality, and no one could guess where this rift might lead.

Yet here, in a self-repairing pocket of the shattered dimension, two figures collided in a raw display of power—Kahn and Champa. Their bodies blurred as they closed in on one another, fists swinging with enough force to splinter mountains.

Suddenly, both fighters thrust their fists forward

Boom!

Boom!

Two colossal punches connected at once—Kahn and Champa struck each other dead-on in the face. The shockwaves from their impact rippled outward, warping the surrounding space. Wisps of purple and black energy arced through the air like lightning.

Champa's power was immense. As a God of Destruction, each blow he landed carried divine fury. Yet Kahn, his hair standing on end with Saiyan might, refused to be overpowered. Gritting his teeth, he drew on his bloodline's tenacious durability and an ironclad will forged in countless battles.

"It's… unreal," Alice gasped, her hands trembling at the sheer scale of energy crashing through the air. "He took Lord Champa's punch head-on."

Enduring a God of Destruction's strike without collapsing was nearly impossible, but Kahn's fighting intent was as solid as steel.

"I am a God of Destruction!" Champa bellowed, his voice echoing like thunder. The ground beneath them—if it could even be called ground—shook violently. His eyes burned with rage at the thought that Kahn was still standing.

He threw a reckless punch, and Kahn met it with his own.

"Think that title makes you invincible?!" Kahn snarled, his aura exploding in a brilliant greenish-gold light. "Even mortals can defy the gods!"

That last exchange had ignited something fierce inside Kahn. Saiyan blood pounded in his veins, his ability to grow stronger during battle finally started to shine. So long as he could handle the impact, his strength would climb without limit.

In a rapid blur, Kahn's right fist hurtled through the void and crashed into Champa's face.

Bang!

Bang!

Champa's counter landed at nearly the same moment, driving into Kahn's jaw. Both warriors staggered for an instant, skulls rattled by the mutual blow. Warm blood trickled from split lips, but it only stoked their battle frenzy.

"Ha!" Kahn spat, rolling his neck with a predatory grin. "That's what I'm talking about! Let's go again!"

He could feel his body shaking with excitement. The Saiyan blood coursing through him roared for more, his power climbing with every exchange.

As if reading each other's minds, Kahn and Champa lunged forward once more, trading furious blows. Their arms blurred, fists and knees crashing in a dizzying barrage of brute force. With each collision, arcs of energy lashed out, tearing new fractures into the battered dimension.

Meanwhile, at Magnum Capsule Company…

In a spacious living room, Bulma and Vados sat on a comfortable sofa, eyes locked on a TV news broadcast. Their tranquil surroundings were a stark contrast to the chaos unfolding in the broken dimension.

Suddenly, Vados's gentle gaze sharpened. In a heartbeat, her expression turned glacial, and an invisible wave of cold seeped into the air. Bulma's teeth nearly chattered from the sudden temperature drop.

Vados's voice cut through the chill like a blade of ice: "Lord Champa… if you dare harm Kahn, I will not let you go."

Even here on Earth, she could sense the cataclysmic shockwaves of energy emanating from the distant battle. It was as though the raging conflict was happening right beside her.

"Vados, what's going on?" Bulma asked, arms hugging herself in an attempt to ward off the chill. A bead of sweat trickled down her temple despite the plummeting temperature.

"It's nothing," Vados answered quickly, her stony expression melting into a practiced, polite smile. Inwardly, she was anything but calm. "How about Goku and the others? Have they caught up with Dr. Gero?"

The TV flashed scenes of devastation from Nandu Town. Reporters, trembling behind their cameras, covered the wreckage caused by Dr. Gero and Android 19. Moments later, Son Goku and the Z-Fighters had arrived on the scene.

Thanks to a year of training under King Kai and four additional years refining his skills in gravity chambers and the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, Goku could now transform into a Super Saiyan. Blazing with golden energy, he'd easily disposed of Android 19, forcing Dr. Gero to flee. Now, the hunt for the twisted scientist was on.

"The reporters lost track of them," Bulma replied, turning up the volume. "But if anyone can handle it, Goku can."

"I see," Vados said softly.

Back in the Broken Space…

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Every strike shook the dimension with bone-rattling force. Kahn and Champa exchanged blow after blow, the empty air crackling with raw energy.

No fancy techniques—just straight brutal hand to hand combat.

Kahn relished the combat. The more he fought, the more his Saiyan spirit blazed. His stamina felt endless, each new collision fueling him like fresh tinder to a roaring fire.

Champa, on the other hand, was breathing heavily. Sweat trickled down his plump frame, and his movements began to slow. His once-dominant aura flickered as exhaustion gnawed at him.

"If this keeps up…" Alice whispered, her pulse racing at the spectacle. "Lord Champa might be the first to fall."

At this point, Champa's stamina was almost tapped out, while Kahn's energy showed no sign of fading. He was feeding off every blow, still growing stronger. Strictly speaking, the fight was lost for Champa—he simply couldn't keep up at this pace.

Sure enough…

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Kahn's fists smashed into Champa again and again. Champa's arms felt like lead, each attempt to block weaker than the last. Brutal impacts thundered against his body, rocking him backward.

"What's the matter?" Kahn shouted, twisting his body into a vicious uppercut. "Weren't you furious a moment ago? Let's see it!"

His mocking words made Champa snarl, but the God of Destruction's energy reserves were nearly gone. Kahn's barrage continued unabated, each punch fueled by the unwavering conviction burning behind his eyes.

Puff!

A final, bone-crunching blow left Champa's face pale with anger. Desperate, he growled, "You… you've pushed me too far, mortal. So I've decided—"

"I'll destroy you!"

A wave of violet Destruction Energy erupted from Champa's body. The very fabric of this broken dimension shrieked in protest, warping under the raw force of his power. Purple wisps crackled through the space like electric vipers.

"Oh no!" Alice gasped, heart pounding. She knew what would happen if Champa actually erased Kahn—especially with Kahn being Vados's husband. The cosmic ramifications would be catastrophic.

Kahn sensed the shift immediately. Hakai was coming. Even a cornered God of Destruction was to be feared, and Champa still had enough power to wipe out anyone he deemed a threat.

Champa raised his trembling hand, energies of annihilation pooling in his palm. Despite his fatigue, if he locked on to Kahn with a single thought, it would spell the end.

Kahn's heart hammered in his chest. No time to hesitate.

"All or nothing!"

His fighting spirit skyrocketed. Like a coiled spring, he unleashed every ounce of energy he had in one explosive rush. The ground—such as it was—fractured beneath his feet, and his aura blazed with Saiyan intensity.

He couldn't let Champa use "Hakai." Better to strike first and cut him off.

Magnum Capsule Company

Vados abruptly stood up, smoothing the folds of her flowing robes. She glanced at Bulma with an unusually tense expression and said, "Bulma, I just remembered something urgent back home. Please excuse me."

Before Bulma could respond, Vados hurried out of the living room, her heels clicking against the polished floor.

Bulma frowned. "What's going on? Something about Vados seems…off."

She rubbed her forehead, still processing the Angel's behavior. "She's acting really strange today."

Outside the living room, Vados's usually warm expression turned cold. She clutched her Angel staff as it materialized in a bright flash.

Boom.

With two sharp taps of her staff against the ground, Vados's form shimmered into a brilliant rainbow of colors and vanished into the sky.

"Honey," she whispered under her breath, "hold on a little longer. I promise, I won't let anyone hurt you!"

Kahn's life was in danger, and it was more than Vados could stand. The calm, gentle persona she wore around mortals had been replaced by a terrifying fury. Her eyes shone with cold determination.

Even if the threat came from her own "old club," Universe 6's God of Destruction Champa, Vados was prepared to do whatever was necessary. If anything happened to Kahn, she had a million ways to make Champa vanish from existence.

(T/N: I need me a mommy Vados in my life)

Meanwhile, Beerus's Planet

Whis stood to one side, uncharacteristically worried. "No," he muttered, "I can't just sit by and watch. Things could get out of control any minute."

He, too, vanished in a flash of Angelic energy, heading toward the brewing conflict.

High above a volcanic landscape, molten magma churned below as Champa hovered in midair. Purple energy flared around him in a deadly aura, sending tremors through the atmosphere.

Not far away stood Kahn, poised for battle. Every muscle in his body was tense. If Champa so much as twitched in his direction, Kahn planned to strike first, and with devastating force.

From a distance, Alice could sense the danger. Her voice trembled. "No… If Champa goes through with this, everything will spiral out of control." She could already sense that both Vados and Whis were racing to the scene as fast as possible.

Champa glared at Kahn, seething. The once-still world seemed to hold its breath, the only sound the roiling magma beneath them. A sudden gust of wind blew through, ruffling Kahn's hair.

At last, Champa slowly raised his right hand.

Kahn tensed, ready to unleash his full power. Time seemed to freeze.

Hum!

Above them, a swirling purple vortex split open the sky. Out stepped a figure small in stature and seemingly harmless—yet he carried himself with the regal confidence of someone who commands absolute respect. It was the Grand Priest, Zeno's closest attendant and the highest-ranking Angel in all the universes.

"Oh?" Champa's fierce eyes went wide. One look at the newcomer, and all color drained from the God of Destruction's face. His anger evaporated instantly, replaced by pure, unadulterated fear.

"L-Lord Grand Priest…!" Champa stammered, his voice quivering. Without another word, he fell to his knees, bowing in midair.

Alice also lowered her head, voice respectful. "Lord Grand Priest, sir. It's an honor."

Even Kahn, who had fought bravely against Champa, felt his pulse thunder in his ears. He knew all too well the Grand Priest's reputation. This was the number-one powerhouse in the multiverse, a being whose mere presence extinguished all thoughts of further aggression.

The Grand Priest, his expression calm yet impossibly authoritative, turned his gaze to Kahn. "Mr. Kahn," he said gently, "you can leave now."

Kahn hesitated for a heartbeat. Then he bowed slightly. "Thank you, Lord Grand Priest. I'll take my leave."

He summoned his dimensional travel cube and vanished, seeing no reason to challenge the being who outranked every Angel and God of Destruction in existence.

The Grand Priest's benign smile faded the instant he turned to Champa. His eyes were cold. "Champa, if you're tired of your role as God of Destruction," he said quietly, "I can replace you."

Champa's heart hammered so hard he was sure the entire universe could hear it. Sweat dripped from his brow, and he bowed even lower. "I-I'm sorry, Lord Grand Priest! P-please forgive me!" he managed.

In that moment, Champa realized just how close he had come to total annihilation. If he had taken Kahn's life, the backlash from Vados—coupled with the Grand Priest's intervention—would have spelled certain doom for him.

The Grand Priest's tone softened, but only slightly. "From here on, leave Mr. Kahn alone."

With that final decree, he disappeared into the swirling vortex, the gate closing as swiftly as it had opened.

Champa remained there, suspended in the sky, trembling. His mind spun, replaying the near-disastrous encounter. He could still hear his heart pounding.

Alice approached tentatively. "Lord Champa? Are… are you alright?"

The God of Destruction exhaled shakily, pinning his drooping ears back. "We're returning to Universe Six," he muttered. "I'm not crossing Kahn again."

Champa knew that his own reckless rage had nearly cost him everything—his position, his life, and possibly the balance of the entire multiverse.

From this day forward, he would remember the terrifying power wielded by both the Angels and the Grand Priest himself. One misstep, and even a God of Destruction could be erased without a second thought.

"Phew…"

In the silent expanse of space, Vados finally allowed herself a slow, steady breath of relief. The Grand Priest had intervened just in time—had he not, Champa would never have slunk back to Universe Six so easily.

Even so, a sharp glint flickered in her eyes. "Lord Champa," she murmured, "we're not finished."

Kahn's crisis might have been resolved, but today's confrontation was far from over. If Champa believed he could threaten her beloved without suffering any consequences, he had no idea just how fiercely an Angel could retaliate. One day soon, she would personally revisit Universe Six and remind him that no one trifles with a divine caretaker.

But that reckoning could wait. Kahn was returning to Earth, and Vados intended to ensure his safe arrival. Let Champa withdraw for now; there would be time enough later to settle the score. Gripping her Angel's staff, Vados vanished in a prism of radiant light, heading back to Earth.
