My Evermore: In Another World as a Harem Ruler

Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Adventurer's Guild

In another room deeper into the church, Zotrid who had followed the nun there, his bloody hands still carrying Mera's unconscious body.

The room was more of the same, however standing at the end of it, was a woman wearing a similar green nun dress. She was slender and soft in her features having light blue eyes, and white hair, unlike the other non, her hair could be seen as could her hands, and feet.

In her hands, an outward green blade scythe could be found, giving her an almost ominous look.

(AN: Image here.)

The room itself was simple having a great sculpture of 15 figures, while at the center a form of altar could be found like a resting table for examination.

Just as soon as they got there, the nun that brought him here, dismissed herself.

Leaving them to look at each other for a few seconds processing what was going on.

"You have a scythe, and you're a priestess?" Zotrid asked confused by what he was seeing.

"You're one to talk, no normal human would have your figure. You might not have demon horns, tail, or wings, but you definitely have a bloodline or at least a physique related to it." Just from looking at him, she had cracked the code as she spoke calmly.

(This is no good, I have no way of explaining this… I could say I was cursed or had demon blood implanted in me or some demon parasite, but if I did it would be a hard lie to keep since I don't know if those are even a thing, or how they work assuming they are. She seems non-hostile so let's try honesty, if it goes wrong I'll portal out of here with the girls and book it.) He decided after reflecting on the matter.

"You caught me… I was born this way, but I'm definitely human. Still, can you even actually heal?" Zotrid responded with a half-truth.

"Hmmm, If you say so, but you don't have to worry. You saved Esna, so I don't try anything unless you do something first. As for healing of course I can.

"Now if you want a better explanation, you must make an oath on Centrodism, on all the 8 Gods and 7 Goddesses that you won't take this information outside or tell anyone about it." The priestess answered seeming unbothered by him.

(An oath… That's binding, but it's not something I mind keeping to myself. So I'll take this chance to learn a bit more about this world.) He concluded in his mind.

"Fine, please heal Mera and tell me how to do it." Zotrid walked up to her and extended his hands holding Mera to her.

"How unexpected, you took it. I'm Kitt by the way. Zotrid, don't worry about your friend, I will take care of her. As for the oath, you'll have to repeat it after me. After I'm done with healing." Kitt smiled lightly her expression carrying a great calm to it, such an easing look.

Once the words left her mouth, she took Mera from his hands and put her down on the altar in the middle of the room. Before undressing the fairy fully.

Then she pulled out a piece of cloth from within the collar of her dress, and it had some unknown symbols inscribed on it, and proceeded to wipe Mera's whole body off the blood meticulously until she was fully and completely clean, and following that she kept the cloth back in her collar.

From there, her left hand gripped her scythe while her right hand stood over the unconscious fairy.

"Oh kindness that fails to embrace all, please allow me to respite the song of your nemeses, not as a call, but as a dismissal of all it stands. Contort and shrivel away in contempt leaving only you, oh dear kind. This let me cast ritualistic healing magic |Undo Wounds|" Kitt chanted and with a single swoop movement used her scythe to cut open her own wrist, bleeding over the ex-goddess.

Blood gushed as her hand was now only connected to her arm by a thread of flesh and muscle even the bone was cut and exposed.

"What are you doing?!" Zotrid could not help but yell at her.

No answer came, however, as the blood began bubbling and exuding fumes as well as a dirty green glow, before pulling back up into her arm, and closing up until it was back to normal, and all the blood was gone from her, and Mera.

It was as if the injuries never happened.

(Is… Is this really healing magic? From a priestess no less? There was no divine light or anything like that. I mean even that green light looked off…) He was in shock at the rather gruesome scene he just witnessed, it didn't even feel like magic to him, even if it was.

"It's done, your friend will be ok, but she will need constant rest for a week to fully recover, and if she feels itchy and some pain, it's only natural, but if it becomes extreme you can bring her back to me," Kitt said with a small smile before she started dressing Mera up again, though her voice now sounded tired.

"I see… Thank you, very much. However, I can't pay, right now… I was so focused on helping Mera, I forgot. So, I will do whatever I can to repay you." Zotrid responded as the weight of the situation left him, and his mind became clearer.

"No need, I don't take payments, only donations if you want to. Anyway, are you still interested in learning more about me, or will you leave it at it?" Kitt questioned as she took a deep breath.

"… Yes, show me how to do it." He nodded his head still curious to learn.

"Then so be it, say as I do: Here under the gaze of centrodism, under the eyes of all the 15. I put my body, mind, and soul on display to you, and as I stand bare, I swear to live by my word when I say that I will not reveal any of the information I hear from here on in this room with anyone." Kitt sighed yet spoke calmly the weight of her tiredness felt in her tone.

"Here under the gaze of centrodism, under the eyes of all the 15. I put my body, mind, and soul on display to you, and as I stand bare, I swear to live by my word when I say that I will not reveal any of the information I hear from here on in this room with anyone." He repeated it word for word.

From above, a golden white light ensnared the room, and covered all those in it, like a blanket taking everything under its warmth.

"Well done, now allow me to explain. I'm not a priestess, well, I am, but only in name. But my class is Witch Doctor. I'm deeply sorry to have deceived you! But I promise your friend will be fine, I swear it on my life!" Kitt said, then closed her eyes and lowered her head as if she was waiting to be berated.

(A Witch Doctor? I think I heard of this class before on earth but I don't remember ever looking into it aside from knowing it exists. Judging from all the secrecy and her reaction it's a big deal in this world for sure, but I'm still me in the end.) He made up his mind.

"So what? You could be a necromancer or whatever else, I don't mind any one person's class, what matters is who you are as a person. In this case, you helped my friend, so I think you're great." Zotrid shrugged and smiled at her.

"You… You… You're kidding, right?" Kitt raised an eyebrow as she looked at him.

"No, I don't know what you've been through, but I tend to see things my way. Don't worry too much about it." Zotrid insisted on not carrying too much for her doubt.

"You're an odd guy, that or a liar, but I've seen plenty of liars, and you surprisingly don't seem like one. We'll see though. You can take your friend and go." Kitt dismissed him, lifting Mera carefully and bringing her to him.

The purple-haired boy took the fairy and walked off, leaving behind a priestess with an expression portraying a great level of uncertainty.

"He didn't even try to bind me to an Oath as well… Naive or kind? Can't tell, didn't even question or run when he had the chance to. Truly an odd one, from his absurd body, to what seems to be a surreal mind. Interesting, I hope to see more, maybe that way, we could get to the roots of your true colors." Kitt talked to herself as the room became empty, her mind wandering a lot as she pondered this encounter.

Outside the room, Zotrid walked back to where he left Esna, Sophy, and Veira. Where he found Esna on the ground being stepped on his back by Veira, while Sophy continuously kicked him on his head.

The nun from before just watched it happen and did nothing to stop the two girls.

"Ergghh! I surrender! I surrender! I'm sorry!" Esna shouted but there was no real panic in his voice, more of a playful defeat.

"What happened here?" Zotrid carrying the still unconscious Mera asked.

[Lord Ero, this guy said that you are going to leave us behind to follow your dreams. So Me and Veira got mad, and then she pinned him down while I started kicking.] Sophy explained though she didn't stop kicking.

Veira at the same time pointed at Esna and then using her fingers did an X over her mouth, a frown showing on her face before she stomped him one last time and ran to Zotrid then climbed his back, all the way, back to his shoulders.

Then followed Sophy who walked to his side.

"Your little friends were listening to this jerk go on about how you'll end up leaving them behind 'cause they would get in the way, and then you would never come back.

"Don't be too mad at him, he didn't fight back at all, and I guess you could say he was trying to look out for them, even if badly so." The nun commented seeming tired of having to deal with this.

(Leave them? I mean, not really, they are too connected to me for me to leave them, even if I wanted to. However, in the future, I'll definitely leave many of my harem wives behind for safety or to do something alone, but of course, I'll always come back, and I'll find a way to do it.) He looked at Esna not mad, but confused before taking a deep sigh.

"It's ok, I'm sure he has his reasons even if he's completely wrong. Anyway, thank you for your help, and thank you to you too, Esna for getting us here. We'll be heading out." Zotrid said and began making his way out, and the girls followed.

"Wait! Sorry for that, I just ended up saying what I think for a second there, I typically don't slip up like that, but your mute little friends just reminded me of something… and someone." Esna got up and ran up behind him.

"I figured it might have been something like that, still not a great look for you," Zotrid replied unimpressed.

"I tend to be pretty bad at this whole relationship thing. People are harder to deal with when they are your allies than when they are your enemies." Esna confessed with a slight sigh.

"In a way, you're not wrong, but if people keep getting mad at you, maybe you're the one doing something wrong." Zotrid pointed out.

"… Point taken. I like the hair though, especially the braided section versus wavy section contrast you have going on." Esna said with a smile as he looked at the hair.

"Of course you do, it's an Ero man's job to always look fashionable in whatever they do. Such is the life of a future harem ruler." Zotrid shrugged speaking as if it was a matter of course.

"Is that so? I guess you have a bit of a crazy side, just like I thought, but that's better than pretending you don't. Where are you headed to anyway? It's nighttime by now, so you can either leave or I get you a good price for a room at the Village Inn." Esna responded as he walked beside him.

"Adventurers guild first, I'm broke right now. It's not like I could stay at an Inn even if I wanted." Zotrid responded with a weak smile.

"I can take you to my house, so you can at least spend the night. It's only fair. Though I'm curious, are you planning to do chores or something? I mean you're a bit young… Oh well, we'll see when we meet her, I should just focus on what I'll say for myself." Esna started talking to himself.

"Chores? I would rather avoid that if possible. Anyway, you're an adventurer, right, so just put the word in for me if needed." Zotrid replied as they finally reached the adventurer's guild.

Besides the church it was the biggest building in the village, having two stories and a more intricate carving than most. Instead of a tree and boat look, this one had weapons carved into it flowing like a battlefield.

(These buildings look fun… whoever made them was probably enjoying it.) The purple-haired boy smiled to himself at the thought, before going inside.

The inside of the building was similar to the outside but in a much more contained and organized manner, and the way things were placed felt almost like walking into a historical landmark to him.

"Looks great…" He murmured as he checked the surroundings.

"You seem like a total country bumpkin right now," Esna whispered to him.

Rolling his eyes, Zotrid didn't respond and continued walking.

Just like in the many stories he had read, there was a bar section with people going at it, getting drunk, and the reception where a young woman could be found behind the desk.

She was a young woman with short brown hair with a pink under, and she had equally pink eyes. Her figure was endowed with a good shape both up and down, all wrapped under her clothes.

As for what she was wearing, it was a sort of pink maid dress with a skirt at thigh level, and a thick brown belt on her waist, the upper side having white on the shoulders, two lines of vertical white on the chest area, and finally a white color.

Then there were her shoes, pink as well, while she wore two bracelets, a jade one, and a dirty gold one, each of them having inscriptions of the same style of unknown symbols he saw on the cloth Kitt used to clean Mera's body.

(AN: Image Here.)

"Welcome to Bigna village's adventurer's guild branch, one of the very few villages in the kingdom to have one. I'm Leira, and I'll be your receptionist today, how may I help you?" Leira put on a business smile and started talking as soon as they got close enough not even paying attention to who was before her.

"Hi, I'm Zotrid, and I would like to register as an adventurer." He said looking at her, while Veira rested her head on his, and Sophy clung to his leg, while Mera was still out cold in his hands.

Then once she looked at what was before her, immediately her focus fell on Esna, and she grabbed his arm and pulled him in for a tight hug. Ignoring what the purple-haired boy just said.

"You dumbass! Where have you been the whole day?!?! You didn't even take a quest or warn me! You just randomly disappeared!" Leira scolded him without letting go of the hug for a single second.

"Sorry Leira, I just got a little busy with some scary guys. I almost lost my precious purity, but I'm still innocent thanks to Zotrid over here, he saved your adorable little brother." Esna said then escaped the hug to present his hero, emphasizing the word.

There was a pause from Leira as she turned her attention to the Ero monster, and she had to blink a few times before fully taking in what she was seeing. Then she looked back at her brother, before sighing looking defeated.

"Huh... And here I thought I had seen almost everything in my years working for the guild, I guess not. Thank you, huh, Zotrid, was it?… I think you mentioned wanting to register for the guild, right? If so, I would be happy to help." Leira said with a smile.

"Yes, what is necessary… I should be fine so long as it's not a payment. I'm flat broke." He replied shamelessly.

"Don't worry, most people who come to register are in similar situations, but no payment is required to join. However, there are requirements, starting with how old you are." Leira shook her head and then explained.

"I'm… 14…" Zotrid had to think for a second before remembering what was written in his status window.

"Really?… I need you to put your hand on this." Leira seemed a bit startled and then pulled from under the reception desk a crystal ball-like sphere. "This is a sphere of appraisal, it shows your basic info, level, race, BP, skills, and so on, but it doesn't go into details like skill level or things like that."

"Ok…" Zotrid nodded his head and placed his hand on the sphere and it began glowing with all the colors like a rainbow before going fully black, but it didn't stop there as it then lit up white, and finally stopped glowing as the information was presented.

(It's different from the system but not much… Though the skills changed name… Why? Sophy?) He nodded as he looked at it.

[Lord Ero, that's quite simple, it is because the system is the one changing the names to make it easier for you to understand and use the skills properly, so things are adjusted to your perfection of things.] Sophy explained.

(Ok… Keep it up then.) He nodded internally.

As they all looked at the status screen, both Esna and Leira looked back and forth between the sphere and Zotrid time and time again.

"Hehehehe! It looks like I was saved by someone unreasonable, and I thought I had high potential, I didn't know I would meet a monster." Esna was the first one to speak amused by the situation.

"These stats… At level 5?! Plus a physiques and bloodlines aren't common at all, I wonder how many stars are these… they sound powerful…I've never heard of that class or job ever… they might be special or even unique tier... Insane amounts of mana… Amazing starting skills…

"If I had to point out flaws there are only two, you have no affinities that limit you, though you should still be able to develop the basic ones, especially at your age, and you're cursed… Do you know the effects of that curse?" Leira could not help but gush a little over him, but she spoke only loud enough for them to hear.

"I was once told that I can't reject love from any woman or they die," Zotrid responded.

"Wait…. I see now why you call yourself Ero and go around saying you'll be the harem king… It makes sense now." Esna's eyes widened as if he just come to a major realization.

"As expected of a curse, how awful, to be forced to accept love or live with the guilt of their death… Of course, you would want to build a harem... It's the only way to avoid tragedy when you have such a handsome pretty face!" Leira reached the same conclusion both of them looking at him with pity.

(I didn't even have the explain anything, they made the story up all on their own for me. How kind of them. I'm sorry, but it's not a problem for me this curse, it's more of a blessing really.) Zotrid thought to himself in his mind.

"It's fine, it's going to be more of a problem for my future wives than me. However, you have me curious, do I have that much mana?" He asked curious.

"Yes, you have 20 times the average amount for a level 5. Though that's invalidated by your lack of affinity, though you should be able to solve that with some affinity training, it's not going to be easy, meaning right now, you can only cast magic with no element.

"Non-elemental magic is typically interesting though, so you might want to explore that. All in all, so long as you don't laze out, you'll have a bright future if you become an adventurer, it's unfortunate you are too young right now." Leira sighed in disappointment.

"Yeah, I still don't believe you're that much younger than me, I thought I had a year on you at most, but in the end, you're just a kid." Esna shook his head a smirk appearing on his face, and if his hair were not concealing the rest, his newly found condescending attitude would be more apparent.

"Wait, there's an age requirement? How old is Esna, then?" Zotrid raised an eyebrow as he assumed that since Esna could be an adventurer he would have no trouble.

"I'm 19, brat!" Esna crossed his arms looking down at him.

This ended with Zotrid putting him in a necklock, and choking him.

"Who do you think you're calling brat?!" He easily subdued him.

"Yeah, I'm sorry but you need to be at least 18 to register at the adventurers guild, that's been the case since the council of guilds was formed," Leira explained.

Zotrid let go of Esna and continued talking. "Is there really no other way? Can't I just take a test or something?"

"Not really… though you can still take chore rank quests, and if you complete enough of them by the time you are 18, you can skip rank I, and go straight to rank H," Leira responded.

"Chore rank… that sounds uninteresting, can you at least make money doing that?" Zotrid asked.

"Yes, you can, though they don't pay all that well. They as the rank name says, chores, and honestly you get overworked for very little pay." Leira confessed.

"And that's my only choice?!" He insisted.

"Fine! It's not the only choice. If you manage to do one of two things you can still register even before you are 18. First is if you get into a magic academy and graduate, but that takes 4 years and most people start those at 12 years old, so if you want to join one for the guild, might as well just wait.

"Second, a recommendation letter. If you get one from a magic academy professor, a respected nobleman, a high-ranking adventurer, or other notable figures. It's possible, but getting one is hard and it might still get rejected, so I don't recommend it." Leira explained a bit hesitantly.

(Graduate Magic Academy or get a recommendation letter?… I could honestly do both. My current body is still young and I feel it's best if I form a connection with individuals around my state, and it will also be a great place to learn about magic and get pretty women into my harem. As well as learning about this world at large, I know nothing.) Zotrid concluded.

"Thank you for the information, that will be helpful." He nodded.

"Just don't do anything crazy because of what I just told you ok?" Leira looked at him seriously.

"All I can promise is, I won't get myself killed," Zotrid replied.

"Urgh! You sound just like this bastard of a brother." She said hitting Esna on the head.

"Ohhh! The misery, my sister's abusive nature is finally showing to the public, now I won't be safe anywhere!" Esna said with an exaggerated expression of panic.

"Don't say weird stuff! People will believe it!" Leira complained.

"It's fine if they believe the truth, my truth." Esna insisted.

"Your truth?! Your truth my ass! You're trying to ruin my image!"

"As if I could, you're doing a better job at that than I ever could, dear sister!"

"Listen here! You little! @$&&$@%#¥£«…"

From there the two got into a heated argument, but it didn't seem to be something that would get anywhere.

(They seem pretty close... It must be nice to have a sibling, I never had such a connection, and it is a bit of a pity that I won't again even in this life. Still, it's great to be here.) Zotrid smiled to himself watching the siblings argue.

Slam

Just then the door to the guild was slammed open.

"Esna, you fraud! I know you're back! Get your ass here, and fight me!!" A young man came in and began yelling loud enough for everyone in the room to hear him, but most ignored him as if it was a typical occurrence.

(What's this all about?) Zotrid looked at Esna confused at what was going on.

In a greater world, there was always more to be seen, that's why a journey like Zotrid's would be a long one.
