My Daimon System

Chapter 3: Daimon System

"We should all suffer! Me, my friends, dad, the rich, pretty girls and everyone! No one should be spared! If I have power, I will bring chaos to this world!" Hero hollered. He felt betrayed and he wanted to destroy the world that he lived in so that he could end it all.

The passers-by looked at him weirdly but Hero's vision was not on them. His clothes were dirty, his golden hair was disheveled and it was only his left foot that was wearing a shoe as he didn't have time to wear the other shoe before he was thrown out of the house.

While Hero was under a rollercoaster of emotions, his vision blurred. He could only vaguely see where he was and he could tell that he was already at the city center.

That was all that Hero saw before he fainted.

However, unbeknownst to him, several notifications surfaced at the corner of his eyes.

[Observation report : A mundane person with disdainful qualities.]

The notifications came and disappeared quickly as if they had never appeared.

Ten minutes later, Hero woke up but he didn't feel any changes to his body or knew that he had acquired the Daimon system.

His body was sore all over and a step away from him, he could see the pedestrian's pathway. Many people were walking to and from but no one bothered with him.

He moved his body and squatted as he took a peek at where he was. Behind him, he could see a wall that separated the slums from the city center and the place where the rich dwelled.

The city center was just as bustling as usual. Hero could see the steam train which was heading towards the slums with many wagons filled with goods and passengers. He could see the flashy steam powered cars passing by and the well dresses rich people driving them. Hero could see the tall buildings that pierced through the clouds, these buildings held the many office blocks that run the kingdom of Ugley. One could find beast halls, amphitheatres, guild halls, influencial family businesses headquarters, sects headquarters, assassin's headquarters and much more. All these were in this city center where Hero had come to look for a job.

Hero stood up and began wandering aimlessly in the streets.

He was awed by the tall buildings of the city center which were beautifully built unlike those dirty apartments in the slums.

"Get out of the way punk! Walk like a man or do you want a beating to tell you where you are?" A scrawny middle-aged man pushed Hero aside before walking away while pushing a wagon through the dirt road.

One should know that the roads in Ugley were not tarmacked but instead, they were tiled with stones and some placed that were not tiled were encompassed with dirt.

"Sorry man." Hero who almost fell due to the push apologized before walking towards one of the tall buildings.

"Ares martial hall."

Hero read the flickering sign of the building. This building was owned by the richest person in Ugley kingdom who was also a foreigner and also a prince. In all his life, Hero had wished that one day, he would find a chance to be one of the fighters of Ares martial hall as all the fighters here were the celebrities of Ugley kingdom and they were worshipped and had countless fans, They were rich and powerful, Hero wanted to be a part of them.

"Hey son! Please help me to pack these stuffs onto my truck." While Hero was still watching, he heard a weak voice calling him and he turned only to see an old man struggling to move several boxes into his truck.

Hero was shocked not because the old man was the first person to talk to him here but because the old man wanted Hero to help. Helping was a strange word in Ugley and not many people used that word because here in Ugley, the only word that prevailed was survival. After all, Ugley was not as peaceful as it looked on the surface.

'Anyway, since I don't have anything to do, I can help him the way he want.' Hero thought.

The old man had wrinkles on his face and his back was crooked but he was always smiling as if he had no problems, unlike Hero who was always expressionless.

The old man was wearing a black suit and he didn't look down upon Hero who was wearing dirty cargo pants.

Effortlessly, Hero carried the black boxes onto the truck and before he could leave, the old man patted his shoulder to attract his attention.

"You seem like you don't have a place to stay. How about you move to my place? I have a good daughter who can give you company. Tracy has always asked to have friends but as you know... The place where I live is a little complicated and I also don't have the energy to offload the goods when I arrive. You can be of help, right?" The old man begged him with a caring gesture.

Hero's eyelids narrowed into slits as he sized up the old man. He really needed a place to stay so that he could think of how he was going to survive in this city but when he stared at the face of the smiling old man for long, the old man gave him goosebumps and his being was screaming to him to get as far away from the old man.

Hero gave the truck another peek and he realized that the truck was not a high-end car where he could not escape when things get out of hand.

"It will be my pleasure to give your daughter some company." Hero answered flatly as he moved forward and opened the front passenger door.

He felt fear when he took a glance at the old man once again but he chose to ignored it.

"Thank you. Tracy will be really happy to have a friend like you." The old man's smile widened even further and he struggled to climb onto the driver's seat.

Hero was now seated very close to the old man who was beside him and when he stared at the old man once again, he didn't feel fear but he only felt the care of a father. Even Hero forgot that that the old man was a stranger for a moment.

As the old man drove, they talked and introduced each other.

The act of kindness from the old man really confused Hero that it left him very skeptical and he struggled to keep his guard up against the old man.

From the little information that they shared with each other, Hero found out that the old man stayed in Collow which was a few kilometers away from the city center of Rusvil city and his name was old man Hutchinson.

Hero was not a talkative type and therefore, he didn't share too much with old man Hutchinson.

While the old man drove in silence, Hero shut his eyes and several notifications popped up which gave him the scare of his life but he didn't shout, only his body trembled of which went unnoticed by old man Hutchinson.

'What is this?'
