Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Voldemort and the Sixth Sense
Lou Sheng agreed to Xia Xingri's challenge invitation.
When someone is eager to give you a card, Luo Sheng naturally won't refuse; after all, he needs more cards.
"I can't believe he actually agreed," many people sighed.
"Such a shame, that domain card," a female card master also looked regretful.
The young male card master frowned slightly, not wanting Luo Sheng to agree but did not offer any advice.
Because although the academy dislikes this kind of behavior, it doesn't oppose it, and even indirectly supports it.
The academy prefers to have the strong become stronger, concentrating cards in the hands of capable individuals. It's a method that, while cruel, can work.
These card masters may have bad character, but having many cards proves their ability. In the end, the academy doesn't lose; sacrificing some card masters while cultivating a few strong ones might be a worthwhile strategy.
Soon, Luo Sheng and Xia Xingri arrived at the battle arena.
Inside the academy, several battle arenas have been constructed, specially designed for card masters to engage in combat. Frequent duels help improve the strength of the card masters at the school.
It was Luo Sheng's first time at such a place since becoming a card master.
In front of him, a pair of card masters were locked in a fierce battle.
A young male card master threw out an animal card, Wind Demon Giant Wolf. In an instant, a giant gray wolf, the size of a horse, appeared on the battlefield.
The young card master climbed onto its back.
The female card master in a skirt saw this and, feeling threatened, yelled, "If you're brave, get off and fight me properly!"
The young card master ignored her and, riding the giant wolf, charged toward her.
As she kept retreating, the young card master swiftly reached out and lifted her skirt, causing it to fly up. A large pink "Baby Bear" appeared before everyone's eyes, creating an almost surreal scene.
"Ah~~! Pervert! Freak!"
The female card master screamed, and within an instant, her skill card, Queen's Fist, appeared. Her small, glowing fist turned into an incredibly hard weapon.
With one swift punch, she sent the young card master flying.
The young card master, smiling with his mouth, exhaled rainbows through his nose as he calmly left, while his giant wolf was transformed into a card and returned to his card box.
Card master duels aren't just about drawing a card and playing it.
Most of the time, the card masters also have to participate in the combat themselves. Without doing so, their physical strength and psychic ability are wasted.
Of course, the rule is "catch the thief by catching the king"—if a card master loses consciousness or is directly killed, the cards they used will lose their power. Therefore, targeting the opponent card master themselves is a common tactic.
...
Luo Sheng and Xia Xingri walked into an empty area on the battlefield.
The fight was about to begin.
Luo Sheng threw out his Black Mist card. In an instant, black mist erupted from the center of the battlefield, rapidly spreading throughout the arena.
As Luo Sheng's card appeared, many card masters nearby began watching: "Look, a domain card!"
When they realized they were watching 'Voldemort,' they sighed: "Ugh, it's someone else's again."
Xia Xingri wore a smug smile, his fingers pinching a bronze-colored card that he immediately threw into the air. It hovered above him and soon transformed into an exoskeleton mech that merged with his body.
[ 00-2 Humanoid Battle Armor
Rank: Bronze Four Stars
Type: Equipment
Skills:
Super Micro Nuclear Energy: Nuclear fission energy device, granting the battle armor nearly infinite kinetic energy.
Mechanical Durability: Titanium alloy battle armor, offering strong defense.
A13 Armor-Piercing Sword: 20% armor-piercing effect, increasing damage to enemies.
Infrared Detection: Allows the wearer to see in the dark or through fog with superior sight, leaving enemies with no place to hide.
Hall Thrusters: Grants the mech limited flight ability or can create wind effects.
Overview: Evil arms dealer Stark Industries' second-generation civilian product, free and beautiful, machine combat every day.]
This was a card Xia Xingri drew at his adult ceremony.
He had been excited about this card for a long time. Although it was only a Bronze Four Star, it was an exceptional card capable of easily overpowering many others. It had a natural counter to domain cards like Luo Sheng's Black Mist.
He had tested it right after drawing it. When wearing the mech, he became nearly invincible. Ordinary cards couldn't break through his defense, much less ordinary card masters.
He relied on this card and successfully used his "Voldemort" tactics to steal cards from dozens of rookie card masters, making a significant profit by reselling them.
Now, Luo Sheng had only one domain card, which surely wouldn't be a problem to defeat.
"I'll be taking this Black Mist!" Xia Xingri declared confidently.
At this moment, a dissatisfied voice came from within the mist.
"Where's the basic mech?"
"This is the basic mech," Xia Xingri laughed.
Although he was in the black mist, he used infrared detection to find Luo Sheng's position and slowly moved toward him, extending a steel sword from the mech.
"You're a liar!"
Hearing Luo Sheng's frustrated shout, Xia Xingri's smile only grew wider.
"How is that lying? This is the basic mech, just slightly stronger. Besides, the battle has already started, so you either surrender or lose... hehehe!"
He enjoyed seeing others get frustrated and desperate. Although it was villainous, the feeling of tricking someone and then overpowering them was truly satisfying.
Suddenly, his infrared detection alarmed. Another figure appeared near Lo Sheng.
Was it the white card?
Xia Xingri hesitated. He remembered that Lo Sheng had drawn Broken Mechanical Princess, which must be that card. After all, a novice card master could hardly have other powerful cards, right?
Moreover, Luo Sheng didn't look like someone who could afford many cards.
Before becoming a "lurking magician," Xia Xingri had researched the background of academy students. Apart from a few wealthy students or those from influential families, the others were just powerless commoners. Lo Sheng, being an orphan, was a perfect target for bullying.
Xia Xingri chuckled lightly. "That white card doesn't seem useful. The teacher was right—it's better as a figurine."
But his smile froze the next second.
The infrared detection alarm kept going off.
Around Lo Sheng, a massive amount of red energy appeared, gradually engulfing the area. Even within the black mist, a faint red glow could be seen.
"You're cheating!" Xia Xingri shouted. This wasn't something a white card or Black Mist could cause.
Inside the black mist, Luo Sheng's laughter echoed: "I never said I was a novice with only two cards. You just assumed that, didn't you? Moreover, the battle has already started. You either surrender or lose... hohoho!"
Xia Xingri froze. The words sounded strangely familiar. Hadn't he just said something like that?
He tried to move away from Luo Sheng.
But the next moment, a barrage of basketball-sized fireballs shot toward Xia Xingri.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh...!
The fireballs exploded around the mech, and the scorching heat made Xia Xingri tear up.
Though the mech protected his body from external harm, it didn't insulate him from the heat, especially with the continuous heat buildup.
From the outside, it looked like flames suddenly erupted from within the black mist.
"What's going on?" the female card master, who had been embarrassed earlier, asked, confused.
"Could it be a skill from the lurking magician? Poor newbie card masters," said the card master with Closed Door mournfully.
Others murmured in curiosity, voicing concern for Lo Sheng, since the "lurking magician" was so vile. What they didn't know was that the fireballs were actually from Luo Sheng's card, FIre Maiden Acoley.
In the black mist.
Xia Xingri, enraged, shouted, "Wait for it!"
He activated the fifth skill of his mech. The Hall thrusters on the back of the mech emitted blue light and a huge jet of air, blowing the black mist away, revealing much of the battlefield.
"Whoa! A beautiful girl card!" someone exclaimed.
Everyone turned toward the sound, seeing a vibrant magical girl next to Luo Sheng.
She wore a simple blue-and-white magician's dress, with white legs in JK-style garter stockings and glossy red knight heels.
Her red hair was embroidered with gold, her blue eyes sparkled, and her face was delicate. Her heroic posture immediately caught the attention of many lecherous onlookers.
"Damn, I want that card too!" the boy who had earlier lifted the skirt muttered, furious, his fist clenched as drool leaked from his mouth.
"If I had that card, I'd be lifting her skirt all day long!"
"Pervert!"
The female card master slapped him and, fuming, walked away, covering her skirt.
Xia Xingri was equally stunned.
He never imagined that Luo Sheng would have such a beautiful girl card!
"How do you have so many cards?" he asked, bewildered.
Luo Sheng, still smiling, answered, "Guess!"
