My Blacksmith System: Transforming my Weapons into Beautiful Maidens

Chapter 2: FAILED SUMMONING.

"Fuck!" Eri screamed, her eyes scanning the pages one by one.

The man was still seated on the chair, eyes focused on the woman.

"Is something wrong?" he asked after contemplating for a while.

Eri could not give a good reply until she was certain.

Finally, she gently dropped the book on the ground and moved closer to the man.

"It would seem I made a mistake with the summoning ritual."

Even a blind man would be able to tell how hard she was trying to play it cool.

The man was confused, turning his gaze to the drawing on the ground that seemed to be a magic circle, but a bit out of shape.

"You'll have to forgive me, but I have no idea what you mean by a summoning ritual," he said.

This made Eri sigh a bit, almost as if she wanted to cry.

"Figures," she began. "While the book did speak of a hero I would be summoning, it didn't explicitly tell me from where. Every priestess before me has trained to summon heroes from other worlds, as they are known to have more blessings than regular people. I am still a novice, but I assumed I would be ready..."

"You failed your summoning?" the man asked.

"Something like that..." Eri looked to the side nervously. "The thing is, rather than summoning you from another world, I may or may not have just summoned you from the past."

"Eh?"

"I promise it's no big deal!" Eri exclaimed as she waved her hands. "I should be able to reverse it. Please just tell me what time you came from, and I'll send you back... I think."

The man looked to the ground once again before then raising his head.

"I see..."

"I thought you'd be angrier. I did just pull you into a different time zone, but you seem calm," Eri uttered, her expression carrying so much curiosity.

"If I were to return to my time, I have nothing to return to. The Hakiaas already destroyed everything. I was the last human on Earth," the man uttered in a sad voice.

"The last human?..."

"Yes." He stood up. "If this is meant to be the future, then I'm glad the lives of the people that were taken in an effort to save the world didn't go to waste."

Now smiling, he said, "When I return to my time, I can die knowing this world did not fall under the hands of those bastards."

Eri had an emotional look on her face. She didn't know whether sending a man back to his death was the right thing to do.

If he was the last human, there was no way he would survive.

"Do you want to go back?" she asked.

"..."

"If you do not wish to go back, we can do that. All I have to do is pretend you are indeed a hero, and no one will guess a thing."

The man tilted his head to the side a bit. "You wish to lie to your superiors?"

"Well, it's not totally a lie if you think about it. I did summon you, did I not?" Eri spoke with a robotic expression. "Besides, if my colleagues find out I failed my summoning, it will definitely affect my rank as a priestess."

"You failed. Shouldn't you try to be better than lying? Seems cowardly."

Eri felt these words stab her chest.

'What's with this dude? I'm trying to save your life here!' she yelled internally.

It was then followed by a sigh. "Ah, that reminds me..." She raised her head. "I never got your name."

"My name?"

"Yes."

"My name is... Rashin Montero," he replied.

Eri smiled. Something about the name made her feel a tad bit happy.

"Well, Rashin? What do you say? Would you like to be the hero of this world?"

Rashin was silent for a while.

On one hand, he would take the role of something he is not, and on the other, he would return to a world where he was the only one alive.

Even Eri, who was doing this for the sake of her reputation, couldn't help but feel tense at whatever decision Rashin made.

Now focusing on the priestess, Rashin was about to give his response.

When suddenly...

"Eri! Eri, are you there?!"

A voice came from outside the church.

The moment Eri heard the voice, her eyes widened in shock.

"No! They're all done already?!" she blurted out.

Immediately, she grabbed Rashin by the hand and ran towards the door.

Once she got there, she opened the door, a huge smile forming on her face.

On the other side of the door was yet another priestess with short red hair. Just like Eri, she also had a staff, only hers was purple.

"Lady Tetra, I didn't expect you to come see me yourself," Eri uttered as she stepped outside.

"I had no choice. You were taking too long. The rest of your colleagues have all presented their summons to the head priest. Please do not fall behind them," said Tetra.

While she was speaking, she noticed the handsome tall man standing behind Eri.

"Oh. I can see you've completed yours on your side," Tetra smiled. "It's an honor to have you in our world, Sir Hero." The woman bowed her head.

This made Rashin feel a bit uncomfortable.

In his former world, he was nothing more than a mere blacksmith. Not only was he constantly looked down upon, but he barely had any ounce of respect to his name.

So seeing a woman who was obviously older than him bow her head was nothing short of uncanny.

"Y... you're welcome..." He played along.

"Eri..." Tetra turned to Eri. "Take your summon and head to the head priest. You need to hurry before the Hero Calling."

"R-right away!" Eri grabbed Rashin by the hand. "Please come with me."

With that, she ran, her feet echoing through the hard castle g

round.

Watching them sprint, Tetra smiled a bit.

"May the blessings of the Angel rest upon every single one of you."
