My Beauty System: Dating the Best in My Universe

It would have been so easy for Evangeline to simply give in to Orion, to know what it felt like to be held in the strong hands of a man like she had always enviously seen in movies and novels.

To let go and just allow her body to feel… but she just couldn't, she barely knew this man, he probably just wanted her for one thing and she would be discarded after he was done.

Right then and there, she promised to keep Rivera's body sacred like she would have wanted. According to Rivera's memories, she was saving her v card for the perfect man.

Rivera previously had intimate encounters, but they had never gone all the way because of this same reason.

Taking a deep breath after worrying her lips, Evangeline turned to face Orion fully and her innocent brown eyes briefly met his grey ones before she looked down at her hands.

Confusion and disappointed understanding could be seen in his gaze.

"Too early?" a smirk spread across his lips as he asked a question that surprised Evangeline, she had expected him to be at least a little bit angry like the cocky men that hated being rejected that she had heard about.

She nodded timidly at him at the same time his phone rang.

He picked up the call while he got dressed and Evangeline was quick to avert her gaze when he took off his bathrobe.

He could have just gone into his bedroom to get dressed, but no, he had to go out of his way to make her uncomfortable.

Soon enough he was done dressing, he wore a pair of grey sweats that lengthened his already tall frame and a black compression top showcasing his chiseled muscles.

He looked like a hormonal teenager, so different from the brooding suited man she had seen at the show.

The drive to his family's lake house was not long and after about 20 minutes they were parked in the driveway of a massive mansion that spoke of centuries of passed down generational wealth.

Before they could get to the door, it was opened up to reveal a beautiful slender woman who looked like she was in her late forties, she was dressed in a plain black gown.

Her blonde hair was tied to a neat bun at the nape of her neck and her lips were set in a brilliant smile as she looked at Orion without even acknowledging Evangeline's presence once.

"And what do I owe this visit?" the woman who was obviously his mother asked and Orion turned to face Evangeline.

"Mother, meet Rivera Gerald, she insisted on seeing the house."

His mother's skeptical gaze finally landed on Evangeline and she immediately averted her gaze and worried her lower lip in a fit of sudden nervousness.

The woman obviously did not like her.

"But of course, that is not the only reason I'm here," Orion added as he pulled his mother into a tight hug. "I've missed you so much."

With another bright smile, she ushered them into the house.

Almost at the same time, the familiar translucent screen appeared before her eyes with a new notification message.

She quickly excused herself to head to the closest restroom.

When the door was firmly shut behind her, she marveled at the beauty of the place before her system interrupted her daydreams.

The notification had been opened and it read:

Congratulations on the completion of your first task. Reward: Guide unlocked.

Guide? What sort of guide…

Just as she had the thoughts a puff of lavender coloured mist filled the air and it cleared briefly to reveal a coughing creature that resembled a cute little child sized puppy but on closer inspection, Evangeline realized that it was a fairy with wings and a very pretty face, decorated with full long lashes and pale white hair, she had dainty limbs and was dressed a very cute pastel blue outfit with ruffled skirts.

"What are you?" Evangeline questioned as she got even closer to the small creature that sat on the island.

"You're so cute," she exclaimed as she moved to squeeze her cheek.

"That's close enough miss," the guide said in a feisty small voice with her palm up halting Evangeline from coming any further. And then she rose to her tiny feet before her wings started to flap and she levitated off her feet.

"I'm Hadley, your assigned guide, and I have some things to tell you about your system."

"Oh…" Melisande trailed off, her interest was now piqued as she leaned against the island.

"Your first mission was a success but you must understand that this was the first and easiest, soon you would be tasked with intergalactic missions to their galaxies and other time periods either past or future and you will be required to get certain artifacts from them."

Evangeline was too overwhelmed to fully understand what Hadley was saying.

"Other galaxies? other time periods? Artifacts? What are you talking about?" Evangeline asked genuinely confused.

"Wouldn't you like to date a savage warlord or perhaps a demon king that feeds off lust?" Hadley asked with a maniacal smile. "How exciting,"

"Exciting for who exactly?" Evangeline asked and Hadley rolled her eyes.

"Why was I assigned to such a boring wielder?" Hadley asked with an exasperated sigh.

"All that does not matter, for now, your next task is to retrieve the blue scepter gem from the basement of this grand mansion without getting caught."

"What? But the system said I only needed to get to the chateau to pass the first task." Evangeline said.

"Well, this is your second task, darling," Hadley said and disappeared into a lavender mist.

Just when Evangeline thought she was gone for good, the translucent holographic screen popped up with Hadley smiling in it.

"You should hurry up, you don't want to get caught now do you?"

Hadley asked as Evangeline's second task popped up:

New task: retrieve the blue scepter gemstone.
