1 - Possession
To be possessed in a fantasy world.
Truly the most cliché of clichés.
But when it actually happened to me, it turned out differently.
Who would have thought?
Just because I wrote one game review.
Just because I left a few replies to comments.
That I’d be suddenly possessed.
[Leaving a review as I quit this garbage game]
-These developers clearly made this game to screw over gamers. Leaving an honest review before I quit.
-Honestly, the beginning is fun. High freedom, good graphics and impact feedback.
-Characters are diverse and charming
(Especially the female characters. So pretty with good storylines)
-Multiple endings exist. But every ending is trash.
-Especially the harem ending is absolutely!! impossible lol. But what’s the game called? [Harem Academy]? lololololol
-If the protagonist happens to win the hearts of more than one heroine? Guaranteed destruction ending lol
-The really infuriating part is that heroines other than the main one must die. Why? Otherwise it’s another bad ending lol
-I tried every possible method, but in the end I could only save one heroine. And they call this what? Harem Academy? This is ridiculous.
-Looking at my playtime, you can see I’m someone who usually never gives up. But I’m about to throw in the towel.
-If anyone came expecting a harem game, back away. It’s a garbage pure love game.
┗Anonymous: OMG lol you played this game for over 10,000 hours. This guy is hardcore.
┗SonSukgu: Wow, you’re the guide writer. Are you really quitting?
┗Author: Yeah, I’m quitting
┗SonSukgu: Why not play a bit more? There might be an ending you want
┗Author: No way, absolutely not
┗SonSukgu: If there is one, would you keep playing?
┗Author: lol I told you there isn’t. If the developer makes an official statement, I might play a bit more?
┗SonSukgu: There is one. Go for it
┗Author: Stop bullshitting. Looking at your username now, you’re just doing that “you’ve been kidnapped” roleplay in comments lol
┗┗Author: Get lost, you concept freak
Memories flash before me like a kaleidoscope.
That moment after I left my last reply, when I turned off my computer and left the room.
I think I closed my eyes.
I think I collapsed.
My memories after that are vague.
When I came to my senses, I was, no joke, actually kidnapped.
“…?”
Pain felt in my wrist.
My gaze naturally falling downward.
Black iron chains were fastened around my thin wrist.
‘This isn’t me?’
My line of sight is much lower. This isn’t my body. It’s clearly a child’s body.
“KRAAGH!”
A terrible sound pierces my eardrums.
My gaze lifts, and unfamiliar scenery begins to appear.
A village burning.
Corpses and black sewage scattered everywhere.
Demonic beasts howling.
Suspicious people wrapped in black robes.
‘Is this a dream?’
It didn’t seem like one.
The muggy heat, the pain on the soles of my bare feet with each step, the nauseating smell of blood and rotting corpses.
Everything felt too vivid to be a dream.
Clank, the iron chains on my wrist pull taut. My body is dragged forward.
“Damn it…”
As I almost fell, I began to speak while looking ahead, but stopped.
Because a delicate voice I’d never heard before came out of my mouth.
“…”
And that wasn’t all. I had to swallow hard when I saw the face of the man in the black robe who was pulling the chain taut.
Eyes showing only whites.
Dark, dry skin.
Black drool dripping from his grotesquely torn mouth.
‘The Chaos Church?’
Most of all, the black symbol engraved on his forehead was familiar. Isn’t that the symbol I saw countless times while playing the game?
Wait, could this be…
‘Possession?’
Such a thought suddenly occurred to me, and I looked around again.
Men in black robes presumed to be Chaos Church believers, demonic beasts with very familiar appearances.
My doubt quickly turned to certainty.
Their appearance was identical to those in the game.
“We must hurry.”
Clank, the chain was pulled more carefully than before.
“Please follow quietly.”
The dark-skinned man who had been staring at me briefly said this, then started walking forward again.
‘This is insane.’
No matter how much I think about it, I reach one conclusion.
I’ve been randomly possessed into the game I was playing.
‘The problem is…’
I don’t know what situation I’m currently experiencing.
I was confused. I’d been possessed into a game I’d invested over 10,000 hours in, yet I didn’t recognize the situation.
For reference, this game mainly takes place in an academy.
Not a dark fantasy game with corpses everywhere like this, but a school setting!
‘Shit…’
Curses rise from within me.
Wasn’t it standard practice for people who get possessed to find themselves in situations or timelines they recognize?
‘I need to get out of here first…’
Setting aside my indignant and confused feelings for now, survival seemed to be the priority.
If this really is the game…
Those dragging me are members of the Chaos Church, a cult that offers blood and souls as sacrifices to worship evil gods.
If I’m docilely dragged away by these cult members…
In all likelihood, I’ll either become material for black magic or be sacrificed, losing my life.
Whew, I take a deep breath to steady myself.
I’m not sure what situation I’m in.
But one thing is certain.
This situation is not a dream.
The fortunate thing is that I know what these beings are, and what fate awaits me if I’m dragged along.
In other words, I clearly recognize that I need to escape from here.
The question is how to escape from these terrifying beings.
“…”
It certainly doesn’t look easy.
Those monsters rampaging through the village are high-level demonic beasts that could only be seen in the late game.
Someone among the Chaos Church believers walking in front of me is controlling such demonic beasts.
‘Who is it?’
Not all of them would be at that level. Even in the game, believers who could handle high-level demonic beasts were few and far between.
‘This would be difficult even if I were in my main character’s body.’
A conclusion I could naturally draw having played the game.
Even if I had possessed my main character, I wouldn’t have easily escaped from this situation.
In this situation.
I need to escape from these overwhelming beings. And in a child’s body without a proper weapon.
Wait, in situations like this usually…
‘Status window.’
[Name: Kamel Hyacinths]
[Age: 10]
[Level: 1]
[Strength: 1]
[Vitality: 1]
[Agility: 1]
[Mana: 1]
[Trait: Vessel of Sin]
The familiar status window appears in mid-air.
Looking at it, I had to feel two emotions simultaneously.
First, the exhilaration that a status window actually appeared before me.
Second, the frustration from seeing such pathetically low stats.
‘All ability scores are one…’
For reference, the basic ability scores given during character creation were all 10.
‘This is really bad.’
It seems the stats are low because of this young body…
‘But what about, Vessel of Sin…?’
While pondering, I noticed a trait I’d never seen before, even having played the game for so long.
[Vessel of Sin]
-You are a being crafted to contain the seven deadly sins.
-Insufficient level to view more information.
Maybe it’s because my level is too low. Even though it’s my own trait, the information allowed to me was extremely limited.
‘Seven deadly sins, it means the Seven Deadly Sins…’
Although the information provided was virtually nonexistent, I tried my best to think it through.
I didn’t want to just complain and die like this.
The good thing was that I had been very serious about this game.
If I hadn’t had such a deep interest in the game, I wouldn’t have been able to make these judgments, or even guess that they were Chaos Church believers.
I don’t know what the Vessel of Sin is.
But at least I know about the Seven Deadly Sins.
Because I have memories of almost quitting the game dozens of times because of those damn Seven Deadly Sins.
‘According to the setting, they’re apostles of evil, not quite at the level of evil gods, but close.’
And this body was created as a vessel to contain such Seven Deadly Sins.
If that’s the case…
“Hey.”
I stopped walking and called out to the believer leading me in a low voice. Of course, even when I tried to lower it, it was still a child’s voice.
“…”
The head of the one dragging me slowly turns. His grotesquely torn mouth corners curl upward into a smile.
“Release this.”
Although his appearance was extremely bizarre and made my legs nearly give out, I tried to speak as calmly as possible.
This was actually a gamble.
Recalling that in the game, Chaos Church believers could never disobey the commands of beings of higher rank than themselves, this was like a dice roll I decided to make.
‘Please work.’
I tried to maintain a calm expression, but I was worried.
While the Seven Deadly Sins certainly had high rank, I couldn’t guarantee that this body, the Vessel of Sin, would outrank them.
If that man tried to harm me, I had no way to fight back.
“…”
Did my gamble fail? The man just grinned with a peculiar gleam in his eyes.
“Why should I release you?”
After we stared at each other for some time.
He asked through his teeth, and after pondering briefly, I answered by recalling lines from the Seven Deadly Sins in the game as best I could.
“Because I desire it so.”
Hooh, the man opens his mouth and makes a sound of admiration.
“Release me.”
Sensing that my gamble had worked on him, I spoke in a stronger tone.
“O Vessel of Sin.”
It seemed to have succeeded.
The chains binding my hands disappeared, and the man who had been dragging me changed his attitude and prostrated himself on the ground.
“Please punish me for harboring disrespectful thoughts.”
“…”
What situation is this now?
I was glad my gamble had worked, but the Chaos Church believer’s bizarre behavior was disconcerting.
He was repeatedly smashing his head against the ground while shedding black blood and tears.
“…”
Looking at him, I fell into thought.
What should I do now?
Should I tell him to leave me here and get lost?
Or should I try ordering him to kill all the demonic beasts here?
‘No.’
Based on the circumstances, these were people who had been dragging me somewhere.
Even if I outrank them, they wouldn’t simply leave me and retreat.
Most importantly, there might be someone among those believers with rank equal to or higher than mine.
“…”
While looking at the believer’s eyes without avoiding them, I shook my head, pondering my next move.
“If that is your will.”
The prostrating man smiled broadly and spread his arms.
“Gladly.”
-CRACK!
As I was looking at him in bewilderment, something burst with a sound and my vision momentarily flashed.
Pattering, hot liquid pours over my face.
‘What the hell.’
When I struggled to open my eyes again, the believer who had been dragging me was gone. All I could see was a puddle of black sludge where he had been standing.
‘No way…’
Did he just take his own life because I shook my head?
“…”
It was entirely possible.
Even in the game, these cult members would throw away their lives carelessly like blobfish.
“KRAAAGH!”
“KUOOO!”
As I stood dumbfounded, blood-curdling sounds pierced my eardrums.
‘This is a nightmare.’
That cultist bastard. Is this why he smiled before dying?
Looking toward the source of the sound, I saw demonic beasts howling with fierce glowing eyes, freed from control.
It seems the one controlling the demonic beasts was the Chaos Church believer who had been dragging me.
Thump, thump.
My heart beats violently.
Thump, thump.
The massive demonic beasts begin charging toward me.
I quickly assessed the situation.
The controller who was restraining the demonic beasts died.
And those demonic beasts are targeting me.
It was certain. Seeing the demonic beasts charging toward me, even attacking Chaos Church believers along the way.
I don’t know the reason, but it certainly wouldn’t be beneficial to me.
“Stop.”
Out of desperate hope, I quietly muttered toward them.
“…”
There was no way demonic beasts the size of houses would listen to a child’s voice.
In that case.
‘Run.’
I did think that since I was of high rank, I might have a way to control them. But that was too reckless a thought.
I don’t know how to handle mana, and even less how to communicate with those monsters.
Even if communication were possible, by the time they would listen to me, my body would already be ravaged inside their maws.
Thump, thump.
The footsteps of the demonic beasts rapidly draw closer.
‘Shit…’
In contrast, my running speed was frustratingly slow.
My stride was short, and even without running much, my breathing became labored and my head started turning white from oxygen deprivation.
“Ahh!”
In the midst of this, I tripped on something and fell to the ground.
“KUOOO!”
Looking back, I saw a winged demonic beast flying toward me with its mouth wide open.
All sorts of thoughts ran through my mind as the creature’s maw approached within arm’s reach.
Instinctively, I stretched out my hand and tightly closed my eyes.
SHHWACK!
The sound of something being split.
What? Am I already dead?
“…”
That didn’t seem to be the case. I could still feel the sticky heat and wind on my skin.
“Did… I… do that?”
As I carefully opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was the corpse of a demonic beast split in half.
Did I do this by stretching out my hand?
If that’s really the case…
‘That’s awesome?’
Just as I was thinking that, I felt something cold against my chin.
Looking down, I saw a blade emitting blue light lifting my chin.
“I did it.”
A voice seeping into my ears like the faint moonlight.
My gaze naturally begins to move toward the source of the sound.
Snow-white skin, slender wrists and neckline.
Glossy platinum blonde hair flowing down to her slender waist.
Deep and subtle blue eyes, as if containing the sea itself.
A captivating aura gently radiating from her very being.
The woman pointing her sword at me had such breathtaking beauty that just looking at her made me feel like I might stop breathing.
The woman opened her thin lips and asked me.
“You, what are you?”
That’s what I wanted to ask.
“Who are you supposed to be?”
Who is this person?
