[Multiverse] The Reincarnated One's Journey Across Multiverse

Chapter 16: Journey to the Star Dou Forest

A young man with jet-black hair and dark attire stood perched on a tall tree at the Spirit Hall's rear mountain. The faint orange glow of the setting sun bathed his silhouette as he meticulously polished a sleek, silver firearm with a piece of violet cloth.

"It's getting late," he muttered, his voice low but resolute. "Tomorrow, we head to the Star Dou Forest for my third spirit ring." This young man was Yuki, the current Holy Son of the Spirit Hall.

Four years had passed since Yuki joined the Spirit Hall. During this time, he had risen from a mere candidate for sainthood to the formal Holy Son under the guidance of Bibi Dong. When Yuki was promoted to a Great Spirit Master, Bibi Dong personally accepted him as her disciple. On that same day, she sent a powerful Soul Emperor to escort him to the Star Dou Forest for his second spirit ring.

Now, standing at the cusp of his next milestone, Yuki's mind was filled with anticipation.

With one last glance at the sun dipping below the horizon, Yuki tucked his firearm into its holster, folded the violet cloth, and stowed it away. Then, without hesitation, he leapt from the five-meter-high branch, landing silently on the ground below. His descent was so precise that not a single speck of dust stirred beneath his feet.

Years of rigorous training in the Spirit Hall had honed his physical abilities far beyond what he had known in his previous life. His body was now a weapon, his movements fluid and controlled. Yet, despite his achievements, one question lingered in his mind.

"Who will escort me tomorrow?" Yuki wondered aloud, his voice tinged with curiosity. "And how much has this world shifted because of my presence?"

As the stars began to dot the darkening sky, Yuki pushed these thoughts aside. He knew that his only path forward was through strength. After all, the competition within the Spirit Hall was fierce. Hu Liena, the saintess and his closest rival, had already reached the rank of Soul elder and was on the verge of advancing to Soul Ancestor. If Yuki were to maintain his position as the Holy Son, he needed to grow stronger—fast.

When Yuki returned to his dormitory, the night had fully taken hold. Ignoring the cafeteria, he instead unwrapped a large, dense rice cake from a white cloth. After eating half of it and washing it down with a cup of water, he carefully rewrapped the remainder for later. The cake was specially prepared to be filling and long-lasting—perfect for someone like Yuki, who often skipped meals to focus on training.

After a quick shower, Yuki sat cross-legged on his bed, closed his eyes, and began to meditate. Time seemed to dissolve as he focused on circulating his soul power. The entire night passed in the blink of an eye.

The shrill sound of an alarm clock finally snapped him from his trance. Yuki opened his eyes, exhaled deeply, and stretched his stiff limbs. Though his soul power hadn't increased significantly, the meditation left him feeling refreshed.

After tidying up and donning his uniform, Yuki clipped a token to his belt—a gleaming badge with the Spirit Hall's emblem on one side and the words "Holy Son" etched on the other. With everything in order, he left the dormitory and headed toward the Spirit Hall's entrance.

---

"Holy Son, you're here."

The familiar voice of Yue Guan, known as Chrysanthemum Douluo, greeted Yuki. Dressed in flowing white robes and holding a yellow chrysanthemum delicately under his nose, Yue Guan smiled as Yuki approached.

Yuki blinked in surprise. "Elder Yue Guan, are you the one escorting me to the Star Dou Forest?"

Yue Guan chuckled lightly, the chrysanthemum vanishing from his hand. "Sharp as always, Holy Son. Yes, Her Excellency the Pope has assigned me to accompany you for this mission. Shall we depart?"

Though puzzled by the decision, Yuki nodded. Sending someone as powerful as Yue Guan—a Level 95 Titled Douluo—seemed excessive. The Spirit Hall rarely deployed its strongest members unless absolutely necessary. But Yuki knew better than to question Bibi Dong's orders.

He climbed into Yue Guan's carriage, which was lavishly adorned with an array of vibrant flowers. The air inside was fragrant, dominated by the sweet scent of chrysanthemums.

"You haven't eaten yet, have you?" Yue Guan asked, pulling out an assortment of food from beneath the table. "Here, eat something. You'll need your strength in the Star Dou Forest."

"Thank you, Elder." Without hesitation, Yuki began eating, aware of the dangers that lay ahead. Even with a Titled Douluo by his side, the Star Dou Forest's inner circle was teeming with thousand-year soul beasts, and anything could happen.

Once Yuki finished his meal, he leaned back in his seat, content. Yue Guan gathered the empty plates and neatly stacked them beneath the table.

"How long until we reach the forest?" Yuki asked, his curiosity getting the better of him.

"Even if we travel overnight, it'll take a full day and night to get there," Yue Guan replied with a knowing smile. "Use the time to practice. You'll need to be at your peak when we arrive."

Nodding, Yuki accepted a cushion from Yue Guan and sat cross-legged to meditate. As the carriage began its journey, the rhythmic sound of its wheels faded into the background, leaving Yuki to focus entirely on his training.

The road to the Star Dou Forest was long, but for Yuki, it was just another step toward his ultimate goal: becoming the strongest.
