Chapter 24: I, the Geo Archon Morax with 2.1 Billion Mora, Have Joined a Chat Group [24]
After bidding farewell to his old friend, Zhongli returned to Liyue Harbor.
For him, sharing drinks with Venti was just a small reprieve from the demands of life.
Though his life was called a leisurely stroll through the mortal world, he was far from idle.
Today, he had numerous matters to attend to at the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. The promised Rite of Parting was still waiting to be performed, as was his duty under the contract.
It was only after everything was settled that Zhongli finally returned home. He poured himself a cup of fragrant tea and opened the chat group.
[Ding, ding, ding~~]
A series of notifications chimed as the lively chat group buzzed with activity.
Telepath (Nana): I transferred schools today!
Emilia Is the Cutest (Subaru Natsuki): Transferred? Because of your parents' work?
Telepath (Nana): No, no! It's a school specifically for training people with superpowers.
Emilia Is the Cutest (Subaru Natsuki): @Incurable Villain, it sounds a lot like Academy City where you're from. Do superpowered schools exist in every world?
Telepath (Nana): Haha, not as advanced as Academy City! It's just a self-sustaining little island. I've mentioned it before, right? In my world, there's a type of creature called Enemies of Humanity.
Telepath (Nana): These creatures disguise themselves as humans, hiding among the population to sow discord and cause conflicts. Human weapons are ineffective against them. Only superpowers can harm them.
Telepath (Nana): So, to ensure superpowered individuals grow up healthy and strong, Japan's Superpower Management Committee decided to isolate them on an island for education until they're adults and can control their abilities.
Emilia Is the Cutest (Subaru Natsuki): Oh, I see now.
Incurable Villain (Accelerator): Watch out for those lousy committees!
Telepath (Nana): No way! The committee members really care about us. After all, we're humanity's only hope against the Enemies of Humanity. Onee-san, you're probably just sensitive because of your own experiences.
Incurable Villain (Accelerator): Tch~~! Just wait and see.
Sweetheart Angel (Puri Puri Prisoner): Yoo-hoo~~! BOYS and GIRLS, did you miss me?
Incurable Villain (Accelerator): Damn Sweetheart! Your wounds healed that fast? It's only been a few days, and you're already bouncing around again.
Telepath (Nana): That's so mean, Onee-san! Even if you don't like Sweetheart-san, you don't have to say that. It's their first time online in days; can't you say something nice?
Incurable Villain (Accelerator): Hmph...! Disgusting.
Sweetheart Angel (Puri Puri Prisoner): Awww~~! It's fine, Nana-chan. Actually, Onee-san cares about me in his own way.
Telepath (Nana): Really? Oh no, I'm sorry, Onee-san… Oh, he went offline. I guess I'll apologize when he's back.
Zhongli watched this exchange unfold with a slight furrow of his brow.
Sweetheart Angel (Puri Puri Prisoner): By the way, Mr. Zhongli, are you here? I still need to thank you! If it weren't for you, that Sea King monster would've killed me and those sweet BOYS. Not to mention how many civilians in the shelter might've died.
Keeper of Contracts (Zhongli): No need for thanks. As part of the contract, I was duty-bound to act. Besides, even if I hadn't been there, another hero would've arrived. He was strong enough that the Sea King wouldn't have lasted a single punch against him.
Sweetheart Angel (Puri Puri Prisoner): Oh? A hero like that showed up? What did he look like? I must thank him properly!
Keeper of Contracts (Zhongli): Hmm… I don't remember the details well. His appearance was ordinary, but I vividly recall his shining bald head reflecting the sunlight.
Sweetheart Angel (Puri Puri Prisoner): Bald? Was it S-Class Hero #11, Superalloy Darkshine? Mr. Zhongli, was the bald head a black man?
Keeper of Contracts (Zhongli): No, it wasn't. Just an ordinary East Asian man.
Sweetheart Angel (Puri Puri Prisoner): Oh, I see… It seems there are still many powerful BOYS in this world waiting to be discovered. I must keep searching for them!

The World of Superpowers
It had been a week since Nana, the so-called "weapon to exterminate the Enemies of Humanity," arrived on the island.
On the first day, she used her words to manipulate Nakajima Shichio—a boy who was destined to become the leader of all Enemies of Humanity—into falling off a cliff.
The perfect crime, unnoticed by anyone.
With this, I've saved at least a million lives.
The app on my phone cannot be wrong. Killing that superpowered individual was for the sake of humanity, to eliminate the Enemies of Humanity. This was not murder.
With such convictions, Nana maintained her composure and carefully disguised her identity.
"Nana, what are you doing?"
A gentle voice suddenly pulled Nana from her focus on the chat group messages.
Her body instinctively turned, her hand moving to the hidden knife at her waist, ready to stab it into the neck of the girl behind her.
But her iron will forced her to correct the motion in an instant.
Turning around with a graceful, innocent demeanor, she offered a slightly sheepish smile.
"Ah! It's you, Inukai!"
There seemed to be faint traces of tears at the corners of her eyes, and her voice carried a nasal tone, as though she had just been crying.
Before her stood Inukai Mitsuru, a new friend Nana had made on the island. Mitsuru regarded her nervously, her timid expression resembling that of a harmless animal.
Inukai hesitated before visibly deflating, her face mirroring Nana's sadness.
But the melancholy didn't last long. Gritting her teeth, she clenched her small fists and gave a determined shake. "It's okay, Nana. We'll find Nakajima and Shibusawa. We can defeat the Enemies of Humanity together!"
"Mm…"
Nana nodded slowly, her face sorrowful as if unable to speak.
But in her heart, she watched the class coldly.
These superpowered Enemies of Humanity only feign concern for their missing classmates.
Even their displays of care are mechanical, dictated by social expectations rather than genuine emotion.
They truly are anomalies.
They are the Enemies of Humanity.
Eliminating them helps the human world.
---I… cannot… be wrong.
