MMORPG: War God, You are Invincible Again

Chapter 5: Chapter 5 The Knight of the Earth is a Rough Man

Following a trail of inquiries, Lu Hong arrived at the training ground where Nono was located. Despite the scorching afternoon sun, many students were still relentlessly training. Teachers were diligently and repeatedly instructing on skill casting essentials, with some students enveloped in physical training, jogging around the grounds.

The youthful Nono made for a striking sight wherever she stood, and Lu Hong immediately spotted her at the center of the field, facing off against Fidel. Nono had just leapt high into the air, descending with a sword strike that cleaved down on Fidel's shield.

"Blessing of Light!" Without waiting for Fidel to react, Nono quickly bestowed the blessing upon herself. Her figure, already perfectly accentuated by the tailored armor, now appeared even more enchanting under the glow of the Blessing of Light. However, Fidel was no longer moved by this, having grown accustomed to the sight. The great sword, blessed by the Holy Light, struck heavily on Nono's shoulder, causing the Blessing of Light around her to shatter with violent tremors. Nevertheless, it absorbed the brunt of Fidel's powerful strike, leaving the two evenly matched.

"Enough! Stop!" Tiege scolded, "The same tactics every match. If you continue this way, there will be no improvement. Nono, I have heard about your upcoming duel with Gunnar. Do you seriously believe you can defeat a eighth-level Knight with your current skills?"

"Teacher..." Clearly, Nono lacked confidence.

Tiege pushed Fidel aside and said, "Since sparring between you two is ineffective, let me step in. I will suppress my strength to the level of a seventh-level Knight. Let me show you what a seventh-level Knight is truly capable of."

At the news of a teacher stepping in, the students at the training ground halted their exercises and gathered around. Lu Hong also managed to squeeze in, scrutinizing Nono's teacher, Tiege.

The marks of a Knight are on the left arm and are generally covered by clothing. But it was summer, and as Tiege liked to wear sleeveless attire, the shield mark that radiated intense Holy Light was impossible to overlook.

Is that the Earth Shield? Having encountered countless Knights, Lu Hong was particularly sensitive to the aura emitted by such marks. If Tiege was not concealing his true power, he must be a ninth-level Earth Knight.

An Earth Knight! Lu Hong still remembered a friend who had been a fifth-level Earth Knight. With the unique skills of an Earth Knight, combined with a dragon steed, he was an unstoppable beast on the battlefield, impossible to resist.

"Pick up your weapon!" Tiege commanded with a stern voice, "Here I come!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Tiege charged towards Nono with a swift stride. Nono dared not relax in the slightest; this was an Earth Knight, and not just any, but a battle-hardened general.

Tiege's sword aim was undisguised, heading straight for Nono's chest. Nono raised her giant sword to block, but just then, Tiege bellowed, "Strength Blessing!"

No sooner had the words left his mouth than the power of the Holy Light surged from within him, infusing his entire body. Instantly, Tiege's strength increased by a fifth. That small yet significant disparity in strength caught Nono off guard as she was defending, forcing her to retreat several steps.

"Too slow in your response!" Tiege chided, but his weapon did not halt.

"Holy Temple Judgment!" With a heavy blow, Tiege's sword struck Nono's weapon. Nono, without the time to activate a Skill, was sent flying away, crashing heavily to the ground.

"I only used the strength of a sixth-level Knight. Even if Gunnar doesn't utilize eighth-level Skills, you may still be no match for him. Do you know where Gunnar trained three months ago? He participated in a crackdown on the bandits of the Western Red Mountains. Those bandits live lifetimes on the blade's edge, their skill proficiency a hundredfold that of you students. His survival from there means that even if he is just a seventh-level Knight now, you would not stand a chance against him!" Tiege lectured, "Think carefully about it. I know you have talent, and you've always been quite self-satisfied, but if this duel serves as a wakeup call, it might not be such a bad thing."

After speaking, Tiege glanced at the surrounding crowd and yelled, "What are you looking at! Get back to training, and if you shame us in the academy competition next month, don't bother showing up to my classes again!"

Faced with the enraged Tiege, the students dared not say a word and scattered in a flurry.

Seeing his disciples zealously back in training, Tiege nodded in approval. However, the carefree Lu Hong stood out starkly among them, catching the eye.

"Who are you? Don't you know this is the training ground for Knight Class Three? Get lost!" Tiege was always blunt and unreserved; otherwise, what would he be doing back from the battlefield teaching at an academy?

"Oh, I'm here to find someone. Just checking on Nono and offering her some guidance," Lu Hong said calmly, completely unfazed by Tiege's stern tone.

"Get lost!" When Tihe sensed Lu Hong's faint breath, he knew that Lu Hong had just undergone a class advancement. Tihe regarded him as a failed suitor after Nono, and a broke one at that, without even a decent set of clothes to his name.

"I'm not talking to you, step aside." Lu Hong was not in the best of moods either, and naturally would not show respect to someone who disrespected him.

The argument between the two men drew Nono's attention. Nono hurried over to Tihe and said, "I'm sorry, teacher, he's my friend. I'll ask him to leave right away."

"Hmph! Spending all day not practicing properly and making a mess of friends for no reason. It's no wonder you still haven't advanced," Tihe clearly expressed his dissatisfaction with Nono. Previously, relying on her talent, Nono often conflicted with Tihe. But due to Nono's background, Tihe couldn't lash out, and now it was a good time to vent.

Because of Gunnar's matter, Nono also repressed her anger and replied, "I understand, teacher."

"You old fart, watch how you speak." However, Lu Hong, the one being cursed at, was obviously not pleased.

"Shut up!" Nono quickly tugged on Lu Hong's sleeve, but Lu Hong, ignoring her, said to Tihe, "So what if you advanced a few years earlier than me? If I were your age, I'd be a Third Transition Holy Knight by now. Look at you, you're just a Second Transition what level? Isn't that embarrassing?"

"How dare you!" Tihe shouted angrily, sending out a wave of energy that knocked Lu Hong back dozens of steps. If Nono hadn't been there to help, he probably would have ended up sitting on the ground.

"You old fart, you only bully me because you have a higher level. Just now you were holding back your level to fight with Nono, right? If you have the guts, lower your level and fight me. If you win, I'll take my own life on the spot!"

"Hmph," Tihe said with disdain, "You're not even worth my effort."

"Shut up, will you?! Let's go quickly, before you make the teacher angry!" Nono hurried to pull Lu Hong away.

"But I came to help you. A Seventh Level Knight might not lose to an Eighth Level Knight. That 'Blessing of Light' armor looks formidable, but it's just a trash skill."

"Don't talk nonsense," Nono, not taking Lu Hong seriously, quickly dragged him away.

"Boy, got enough big talk?" Tihe spoke coldly, "I don't believe a Seventh Level Knight can defeat an Eighth Level Knight with the 'Blessing of Light' armor."

"Fight me and you'll know. But think carefully, don't get beaten so badly you end up looking for your teeth all over the place," Lu Hong sneered, "I'm now a First Level Warrior. If you dare, lower your strength to a First Level Knight and fight me."

"A warrior?!" Tihe laughed, "A First Level Warrior? You're killing me with laughter. If you were some other class, perhaps I'd consider giving you a lesson, but as a warrior... what a waste of my time."

"Tihe!" A roar came from the distance, and the next moment, a red figure dropped from the sky striking heavily at Tihe.

Tihe, a veteran of countless battles, was not the least bit flustered by such a sneak attack. He stepped back to dodge the blow, a giant sword and a shield materializing in his hands.

The red figure brought a strong wind as it chopped fiercely at Tihe, who upon recognizing the attacker scoffed and raised his shield to cast 'Earth Shield'.

Seeing this, Lu Hong knew that Tihe was about to suffer. The red figure was an old man who had followed Lu Hong, and the chopping attack was the 'Fatal Strike' that Lu Hong had taught him, a powerful Skill specially used by Great War Masters to break defenses. 'Earth Shield' alone could not withstand the power of the attack. Though the old man had just learned it, hence its power was not yet fully developed, it was more than enough to break 'Earth Shield'. Additionally, the old man's quick mastery of 'Fatal Strike' had genuinely impressed Lu Hong; turns out, the old man had quite a talent for learning.

Just as expected, at the moment the giant sword collided with the shield, a crackling sound ensued, and the shield, enhanced with 'Earth Shield,' split in two. Tihe was thrown off his feet by the tremendous force, tumbling to the ground.

"How... How is that possible?!" Tihe mumbled in shock. He knew this old man; the two had fought many times in the academy, yet the old man had never gained the upper hand like this. Tihe wondered what had changed to make the old man break through his defense in one move today.
