MMORPG: Rebirth Of The Strongest Assassin

Chapter 6: Level Five Boar

Well, he wasn't precisely heading towards the assassins, Yone wasn't that dumb.

'First, I need to secure a few easy kills. Rushing in unprepared isn't an option.' He thought.

'Their levels from the information gathered on that guy's podcast are around 4 to 7, this quest is too important and its reward shouldn't be delayed or else I won't have a clear advantage over other players.' Yone's mind raced with different thoughts as he formed a plan in his mind.

This wasn't a joke. It wasn't just another quest. If he didn't plan carefully, even his knowledge wouldn't be enough to keep him ahead. This was merely a starting town and the advantages he could have here are limited, but also amazing at the same time since being the first level 10 player has immense rewards.

Alas, things weren't easy with the current game's population since everything is almost over populated, and the skills of many players are even above Yone as of right now. This was the disparity between a regular gamer like Yone and some pro gamers who played other VR games before they headed inside of this one.

It should be known that although Yone reached tier 3 in his past life, it was actually average at best on that day and age, which is why his position was quite low on the guild. As for the top pro players right now, it's true their skill isn't as great as tier 3, but they weren't that far off, and will catch up really quickly, in fact, it will take them a matter of days to get used to the gameplay of Eclipse Online and their characters.

Fortunately, leveling was pretty hard on Eclipse Online. From level one to two, it required five to seven hours since every beast gave around five experience points, and to reach level one, you needed 1000 experience points.

With the addition of five minutes of spawning time and players being in groups, hence sharing experience, their leveling speed would greatly plummet. It wouldn't be surprising if the majority only leveled up once after twenty-four hours, which is equal to a real-life night.

After running for a couple of minutes, Yone reached the gate as two guards with long red spears stood there protecting each side.

Yone halted his steps and considered a few things for a moment before heading to the guard on the right, a smile curling on his lips." Sir guard, I heard a few rumors about stolen gold. Do you know anything about it?"

'If my memories don't fail me, this guard that no one ever thought of asking anything of, holds one of those rare quests. Only, I don't know if this one is yet available,' Yone thought in anticipation.

Certain events in the area inside a town, city, or even kingdom led to many quests, and the rare quest that elevated a player's leveling speed to match that of those at the top was taken from this guard.

"There is no such thing as an adventurer, but if something is ever stolen, I'll make sure to inform the adventure guild in the city so they can send help." The guard didn't change his position. He replied with utmost discipline, his eyes not taken from the forest leading to the town's gate.

Yone scratched his head in annoyance but didn't dwell much on the forest and ran straight into the depths of the forest.

The crystalized town forest was filled with evergreen pine trees, and while that seemed pretty and a good location for citizens to visit, the reality was harsher than it looked.

Several level five monsters, varying from white wolves to several spiders and boards, roamed the depths of the forest, making this place inaccessible for any player without a party of level 5 players.

Yone saw a pack of white wolves and a few spiders on top and decided to use stealth. He distanced himself as much as possible, and his destination was obviously even deeper into the forest.

At level one, Stealth wasn't perfect, higher-level beasts could still detect him. But even a partial concealment was better than none, and Yone trusted his ability to slip through. Since gaps existed to make the game even more realistic, he had a way through.

After eight seconds of running as far as possible from the wolves' senses and spiders that created vast nets encompassing several trees, Yone reached a cave at the bottom of a small mountain.

Stealth automatically vanished after ten seconds, and Yone had to wait thirty seconds before using it again, hence he chose to sit right at the cave's entrance, since he deeply needed the bonus attack damage and surprise attack, or else things will be more challenging for him to level up.

Stealth Skill Details: Duration: 10 seconds

Effect: Conceals Yone from enemies of the same level 100% and 90% for one level higher, etc....

Bonus Effect: If Yone attacks while in Stealth, he deals +20% bonus damage on his first hit.

Cooldown: 30 seconds

'Hmm? A lone boar?' Yone noticed a boar heading towards him and couldn't help but shiver at the sight.

He looked inside the gaze and goosebumps rose all over his body once more,' Inside the cave are most likely the bear's family level six, and in front of me is a level five boar. Should I just suicide and go for another route?'

Yone bitterly smiled as he looked at the boar slowly approaching him. Thankfully, it was so slow that it needed a minute to reach him, but its smell sense was so high, like that of wolves, that Yone had no way of making detours or evading its detection range.

'Aghh, whatever. Let's just kill it. I'm here to level up anyway.' He took a deep breath, activated sleuth after thirty seconds, took out his rusty dagger, and encircled it.

It could indeed detect him, but detecting him while he was almost behind her is way better than being in front of her, since he had shadow step to close the gap, which enables him to dash in any direction for three meters, almost blending with the shadows.

Yone crouched low as he moved stealthily around it, just making sure the distance wasn't any longer than three meters to ensure his dash worked perfectly, his breath steadied as he moved silently through the bushes at the bottom of the mountain.

The massive boar snorted, its hoves stomping the dirt as it sniffed the air for any abnormalities.' Truly realistic. No wonder this game took the whole world by surprise and became the second world for humans.' He marveled at the graphics and details of the monsters.

'Damn, its scent detection is strong,' Yone thought, his fingers tightening around his dagger.

The boar's ears twitched. Any second now and Yone knew that it would pinpoint his exact position from his experience.

No more waiting.
