Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva

Chapter 2 Speckled Pigeon Logistics_2

It's kind of funny when you think about it, two girls aged 16-17 going to buy a vehicle for the first time. It wasn't a pretty little car, though, but a rugged, massive truck, its tires taller than Hexia's height.

He Cheng sobered up completely after a while and immediately began asking the girl for details. In his eyes, offering such high wages to hire someone suddenly probably meant it was a particularly tough project.

"Transporting industrial materials, huh." After hearing the details, he felt maybe the job wasn't as difficult and started worrying that the gig paying such a high salary might not last.

Industrial materials aren't as perishable as fruit, nor as nerve-wracking as some hazardous goods. Most of them are pretty durable, not a problem if they get jostled around during transport. It's relatively easy work in the logistics industry.

"Yeah, yeah, this is just the beginning, I foresee the demand increasing steadily in the future." Hexia said confidently and expectantly about the prospects of 'Qian Liu.'

After the girls finished their explanation, the two slowly understood the situation in that new city in the north, and could tell that this project was likely to be long-term, with no shortage of work for at least four or five years.

"No problem, I'll give it a try tomorrow, I promise to work hard." He Cheng declared confidently, almost thumping his chest.

"Then we'll be counting on you, Uncle He Cheng." The girl stood up to show her appreciation, then looked up with a smile.

"You say that as if I'm not the one benefiting here." He Cheng touched his head bashfully.

Soon, peals of laughter could be heard coming out of the house again.

The next day, He Cheng arrived at the location of the newly opened logistics company.

In front of the truck warehouse, a heavyset man and a skinny one were waiting for someone.

"The miss said her uncle would be coming over today." Blu stood there, resembling a small mountain.

"Mm-hmm, don't worry, I remember very clearly. It should be He Cheng, probably the kid from Grandma He's family." Ha Ke leaned against the wall, his hands behind his head, sunglasses perched on his nose.

"He's going to be part of our company from now on, our teammate." A straw dangled from his mouth, no one knew where he'd picked it up from.

Normally he'd be smoking a cigarette, but Hexia didn't like it, so he reluctantly gave it up. After all, he was now working under this miss, and sticking with her was a lot better than his nomadic lifestyle on the outside.

Since the company was just getting started and the two boss ladies would probably be off to school soon, he and the other pioneers were likely to have final say, the thought of which was delightful to him. This was much more comfortable than working for someone else by a long shot.

"Are you Ha Ke and Blu?"

However, before He Cheng could arrive, a young woman with silver short hair appeared first. Her bangs half-concealed her face, and she was dressed in a back dress with silver-gray trimming. She had a well-proportioned figure, and dark gray pantyhose enveloped her legs under her dress, giving her an air of mystery.

"Yes, may I ask who you are?" Blu answered honestly, but was quickly interrupted by Ha Ke, who stepped in.

"What are you here for?" His brow furrowed as he eyed the silver-haired, grey-eyed woman. His hand instinctively reached behind him where a dagger was kept.

"Oh, quite vigilant, I see. Not bad at all. I was worried Little Tilan was too kind-hearted and had brought in a couple of good-for-nothings." Her eyes, peeking through the fringe of her silver hair, gleamed as if she could see right through everything.

Her slightly high-heeled shoes clicked on the metallic flooring of the warehouse as she quickly approached the two men. Though slender, the vibe she emanated was that of a terrifying magical beast, causing cold sweat to run down their backs, their fingers immobilized.

"Not bad, you haven't picked up any of those unforgivable bad habits." She walked past them as if sniffing their scent, not detecting hints of any hallucinogenic potions or addictive substances.

"I suppose you pass, barely." She turned around, a silver card spinning between her fingers, which she then tossed to the two men.

"Contained within are training routines from the Federal Army. You two study them well. I'll come to check on your progress each month. If I find out you've been slacking off, well..." Although she stopped short of finishing her statement, the madness in her eyes nearly brought the two men to their knees.

After laying out these directives, she instructed them to open the warehouse doors and went inside, taking a lap around the newly purchased truck.

"The Tiger J-300 heavy-duty trucks from 'Yin Steel Heavy Industries', well, they leave something to be desired, but considering our financial constraints at the start, they'll have to do," she said, shaking her head. Then she gave one of the truck's tires a kick, causing it to shift a few centimeters, to test its weight and strength.

"So, which one of you can drive a truck?"

"Uh, we can only drive regular vehicles," the two of them hastily shook their heads. Although AI driving was widespread, human supervision was still needed for long-haul transports to deal with various emergencies.

"How does this small company operate, then?"

"Miss Hexia said a driver would come over today."

"Oh, there's another person coming? Okay, I got it." She pressed the hidden earpiece on the side of her ear and nodded slightly after confirming the information.

"The driver is just an ordinary person, I won't meet him later. Pay attention and explain to him that I am the company's temporary financial officer, but I'm usually very busy, so it's best not to call me."

"Mmm, no problem." The two of them nodded eagerly.

"What do we call you...?" the two of them asked cautiously.

"You can call me 'Mammon', or refer to me by my codename 'Miss Grey Crow', which I prefer."

"Okay, Miss Grey Crow."

"Let's leave it at that for today, I'll get you a batch of armed personnel soon, and maybe even have you affiliated with a certain office to get a legal gun license..." her fingers tapped lightly on the side of her cheek.

"You should be quite accustomed to using guns," she didn't spell it out, but it was clear that Miss Mammon knew all about their past.

"Yes, ma'am." The two of them stood at attention.

"You might encounter thieves or intentional blockades on the road, just flash your weapon when that happens, but in the city, you'll need to behave, don't cause any trouble that would annoy me."

"If you do something that bothers me, I'll get very unhappy, got that?" She leaned forward slightly, her fringe briefly revealing her other eye hidden beneath.

"Mmm, got it." They continued to nod like pecking hens, not daring to look up at the slender girl.

"Good, you're both good kids. That way I can be more at ease since my time is very precious." She clapped her hands lightly, signaling them to relax.

"Right, this form, have the driver fill it out later and send it to me." She gestured in the air with her finger, silver light points tracing shapes, and then she tossed a projected form toward the two men.

Suddenly, the personal terminals at their sides pinged with the sound of an incoming file transfer. Without any action from them, and even without exchanging contact details, they had already received the information. This only meant that their personal terminals had been hacked beforehand.

"Take care of it, then, see you next time." With that, she waved her hand, twirled on the spot, and vanished from their sight, leaving them wondering if it was her sheer speed or some special ability.

An hour later, following the directions on his electronic map, He Cheng finally found the warehouse. He circled the area once before confidently walking in, having made sure it was the right place.

"Hello, is this 'Grey Pigeon Logistics'...?" He sized up the man in front of him, who was as solid as a mountain, and felt a sense of unease, wondering if he was in the wrong place.

"That's right." The man's massive arm landed on He Cheng's shoulder, and despite He Cheng's size, he felt the pressure of the man's strength.

The heavy hand gripped his shoulder, startling him, but the words that followed finally made him breathe a sigh of relief.

"We are members of Grey Pigeon Logistics, the eternal followers of Miss Hexia, the Triple Stars that embark on great voyages, sworn to protect our cargo like steadfast beasts, and the legends known by all in the Northern District 12, henceforth." The two men stood under the incredibly bright ceiling lights, seeming to grow in stature, and they intimidated the new driver.

"Now, you are one of us!"
