Minecraft but it's connected to the multiverse !?

Chapter 7: This monstrosity is a ghast !?

Entering the portal, a strange sensation took hold of me, a feeling of disorientation. Then, all of a sudden, I was transported.

In an instant, an immense wave of heat engulfed me from head to toe. The air was stifling, unbreathable. I could already feel myself sweating, and even though I was shirtless, my shorts were already sticking to my skin.

Before my eyes could even adjust to the intense light of this infernal world, I heard a horrific scream that sent shivers down my spine.

*Screeeech*

That disorienting cry caused a slight headache. Instinctively, I knew it was anything but natural, a high-pitched, twisted mix of multiple voices.

That horrifying sound was immediately followed by a heavier noise, then the roar of flames and a launch.

All of this happened in just a second while I was still reeling from my first-ever space-time travel, my senses overwhelmed from all sides.

Sensing imminent danger, I pushed off the obsidian and threw myself forward, leaping several meters just before hearing a massive explosion.

*Boooooooom*

The heat around me instantly intensified, and I was blown away by the blast, sliding across the harsh Nether ground, stopping just at the edge of a precipice leading directly into a massive lava lake.

Despite the overwhelming chaos, I didn't waste a single moment. I got back on my feet, shield in one hand, sword in the other, blinking rapidly to clear the haze clouding my vision due to the drastic change in brightness.

Regaining my composure, I scanned my surroundings with a deadly serious expression.

And then, I saw it.

My portal, extinguished, burning, with the netherrack around it still ablaze from the explosion's aftermath.

"Holy shit! What the hell is happening ?!"

I could only curse at the situation. Despite all my intense preparations, I had gotten blown to hell by a massive fireball the moment I arrived.

Looking up at the charred, blood-red sky of this nightmarish realm, I quickly scanned the horizon. And then I spotted it, a grotesque, misshapen white mass in the distance, its twisted yellow eyes locked onto me, long, slimy flesh tendrils floating around its demonic form.

Then…

*Hissss*

The creature inhaled deeply through its warped, gaping maw before forming an enormous fireball and launching it at me at a speed unlike anything I had ever seen before.

'Shit, I think It's too far for my bow… and it's if my wooden arrows don't catch fire in midair, wait, can I deflect the fireball like in the game? Nah, I can't afford to screw around, I don't feel like getting blown to pieces.'

My mind raced through all possible options in the split second before the fireball reached me.

Without wasting another thought, I jumped to the side, dodging just in time as the impact disintegrated part of the ground beneath me.

Getting back up in an instant, I grabbed my bow in one fluid motion, even if this may prove useless, the distance being really large. Also this was my first time using it in real combat, but there was no time to hesitate. I drew the string and loosed an arrow toward the floating abomination.

*Swish!*

The arrow tore through the air at an insane speed, far faster than I expected. A deadly projectile that crossed the hellish landscape in an instant, but… it barely missed, grazing the monster's disgusting white flesh without striking it.

"Damn it! What was that power ?! Am I a monster or what ?!" I screamed, impressed by my shot.

Adrenaline surged through my veins. I didn't know if it was because of the bow or because I was just that good, but that shot had been insane. My heart pounded wildly, but I had no time to be impressed with myself.

The Ghast was preparing another attack. Its tentacles tensed, its grotesque mouth opened wide, and another fireball began to form.

This time, I didn't let it act. I pulled my bowstring again, held my breath, aimed with precision, and released the arrow.

*Fwip!*

The arrow shot like lightning, piercing straight through the monster.

*Screeeeech!*

A scream of agony echoed across the Nether as the creature exploded in a burst of flames and scorched flesh.

I had no time to celebrate. My instincts screamed at me to move.

Another explosion.

A second Ghast.

I hadn't even seen it coming. It had already fired.

The fireball was too close. I couldn't dodge this one.

My mind went blank. My body moved on its own.

"AAaaaaaarggghhhh, you son of a biiitch !"

With a cry of rage and fear, I swung my sword with all my strength.

*Clang!*

The impact was brutal. The explosion should have obliterated me, but something incredible happened.

The fireball rebounded. I had sent it back.

And it was heading straight for its sender.

The Ghast had no time to react. The massive flaming projectile struck it dead-on.

A second explosion shook the Nether skies.

Chunks of burnt flesh rained down, disintegrating in the infernal air.

I stood frozen, sword still raised, breathing heavily.

"… Holy shit, I was attacked again ? The Nether they said ? This is the real, actual, fucking Hell. And what was that cry it made ? It sounded hellish and creepy as fuck !"

Silence fell, broken only by the crackling flames and my ragged breaths.

Even though I had just slaughtered two nightmare creatures in mere seconds, I didn't waste any time.

I dug into the Nether rock on the side and sealed myself inside with cobblestone blocks.

Slumping against the wall, I slid down to sit on the ground, exhaling heavily before rubbing my face.

"… This isn't a fucking game that's for sure. This is a real, goddamn hell. So … this is the Nether."

Panting and regaining my breath, my body dripping with sweat like I was in a desert under the searing heat, my brain raced at full speed.

'I got attacked the moment I entered. I need to protect my portal first… Then, I have to collect what I came for, quartz, gold, both in large quantities, and gather potion materials… which means finding a fortress.'

Gripping my sword with both hands and planting it into the ground, I forced myself to stand. I knew I could do this.

After all, I aspired to be a king, or something like that, one day. I wanted to be strong enough to earn respect.

Emerging from my hiding spot, I glanced left and right, carefully watching my step and scanning for enemies.

Then, I approached my portal, reignited it, and got to work.

Pulling cobblestone blocks from my inventory, I immediately started building a protective structure around the portal. No way in hell was I letting another one of those damn Ghasts blow me up the second I set foot here.

With swift and precise movements, I placed the first blocks around the still-smoking obsidian, forming thick walls to absorb potential explosions. The dull sound of stone hitting Nether rock echoed through the suffocating air.

The hellish heat made every movement more exhausting. Sweat poured off me, my hands grew clammy as I gripped the blocks, stacking them higher to block the open sides.

Once the main structure was complete, I stepped back, examining my work with a critical gaze.

"It's not perfect, but it'll do."

Now, my Nether portal was encased in a massive cobblestone block.

I installed an iron door at the front, operable by a lever on both sides. I was NOT letting some monster waltz through my portal. I tested the mechanism. The door creaked open and held. Perfect.

But I knew it wasn't enough. Those bastard Ghasts could still fire at it and break the cobblestone outside.

So, I added a second protective layer in front of the portal, a small cobblestone airlock, just big enough to maneuver inside.

Every stone placed gave me a little more peace of mind. Here, in this hell, my survival depended entirely on what I built.

Minutes later, the structure was complete.

I stood before my shelter, arms crossed, analyzing every detail. It was crude but solid enough to give me some breathing room. I knocked on the wall with my fist before exhaling.

"Well… at least I can breathe in here."

Wiping the sweat from my face, I leaned against the wall. My muscles weren't even that tired, and my mind was still running full throttle.

First step done. My portal was secured.

Now, it was time for the real mission.

A smirk formed on my lips as I straightened up, gripping my sword. My eyes burned with newfound determination.

"Alright… time to show this fucking Nether who's the boss."
