Chapter 14: Chapter 14 : Pandémonium part 3
Kenny ran a hand through his hair, his expression tense.
"We need to figure out the right question to ask one of the statues. It's the only way to move forward!"
Ikku, visibly agitated, shook his head.
"I'm terrible at this kind of thing."
Yumé nodded in agreement.
"Same here. I don't even know where to start."
Determined, Kenny asked them to let him concentrate. He knew he had to come up with the right question.
"To make sure we get the right answer, we'd need to know which statue tells the truth and which one lies, but that's impossible… So, my question has to involve the other statue. That's it!"
Stepping forward with newfound resolve, Kenny took a deep breath.
"I think I've got it," he said, a confident look on his face.
He began to speak:
"If I were to ask the other stat—"
But he didn't get the chance to finish.
Suddenly, the metallic clang of a door echoed through the room. Yumé had already opened the blue door behind one of the statues.
"What are you doing, Yumé?!" Kenny shouted, panicked, clutching his head in disbelief.
"Sorry," Yumé replied with an innocent grin, scratching the back of his head. "I got tired of waiting."
Just as Kenny was about to retort, they heard a loud click. The red door locked with an ominous sound.
Ikku couldn't help but laugh, which only irritated Kenny further.
"This isn't funny!" Kenny snapped. "What if it's the wrong door?!"
"We'll figure something out. Don't worry," Ikku said reassuringly. "Besides, we don't really have a choice now."
Kenny let out a final groan of frustration before reluctantly stepping into the next room, followed closely by his two friends. Once inside, the door slammed shut behind them, and a voice echoed through the chamber:
"Congratulations, that was the correct exit."
Yumé's face lit up with a triumphant smile, and he flashed a peace sign.
"See? Told you it was a good idea!"
Kenny, furious, grabbed Yumé by the shoulders and shook him.
"Don't ever do that again!"
Ikku watched the scene with amusement before turning his attention to their new surroundings. Something about this new room told him it would be just as perilous as the last, and he steeled himself for whatever lay ahead.
The group quickly surveyed their environment. They were in a long corridor, the floor tiled with a chaotic pattern of different colors, creating a disorienting effect. At the end of the hallway stood three doors, motionless and mysterious.
"This thing never ends!" Yumé groaned, glaring at the doors.
Suddenly, a baby's voice echoed through the space, its tone disturbingly cheerful. An overhead screen descended slowly from the ceiling, displaying a message:
"Welcome to the Path of Destiny. Be the masters of your fate."
"I guess we have to choose a door again," Kenny remarked, his tone uneasy.
"Which one?" Ikku asked, eyeing the doors with apprehension.
"Good question," Kenny replied, looking perplexed.
At that moment, a massive wall appeared behind them, blocking the previous door and sealing off the space. Sharp spikes jutted out from the wall, which began advancing slowly toward them.
"Run!" Ikku shouted, taking off at full speed, his friends following close behind. Their hearts pounded as they sprinted toward the doors.
With each step, traps sprang up around them. Arrows shot out from the walls, narrowly missing Ikku and his friends as they dodged at the last second. They had to keep running to avoid being crushed by the advancing wall.
Holes suddenly appeared in the floor, and jets of flames erupted from random spots. More arrows rained down on them. Adrenaline surged through their veins as they continued their frantic dash, dodging every deadly obstacle in their path.
"No time to think! We're all heading for the middle door!" Kenny ordered, his breath ragged.
Ikku and Yumé nodded in agreement, their determination to survive unwavering as they kept evading the relentless dangers.
"Faster!" Ikku shouted, as the wall behind them began closing in at an alarming speed.
