MHA: The Fresh Blood [Rewrite]

Chapter 11: Rat God

After I awoke from my nap, the first thing I noticed, much to my dismay, was that the bookshelf had almost tripled in size. The reason for it was probably because of my newest skills. I'll have to study even more now, fuck.

"I don't know whether to cry, or punch something..." I hung my head as I looked at the large abundance of books that I'll have to read, most of which were now recipe books and fashion magazines.

I let out a sigh as I laid back onto the couch, my gaze moving from the bookshelves to the kitchen, which seemed to have grown in size and become the type of kitchen that you would only see in a kings castle. The reason for it was either because of my curse, or that chef skill I got, I don't know. Either way, it'll be nice to try making food in a proper kitchen.

"Now, System. Did I really gain the skills and other stuff?" I had to ask because I didn't feel any pain while I slept, so it was best to double-check with the system.

[Answer: Affirmative, Eve. The skills Unarmed Combat, and Master Chef have been successfully obtained]

"And what about the time on that new quirk of mine?" I said while I opened my inventory to find the slot where the item from Hermes was placed.

[Answer: The Adjustment Process for the quirk, Clothing Generation, is expected to complete in 4 days]

"Huh? That's less than the time it took for my body to adapt to Siren Song. Maybe it's because Clothing Generation is weaker?" I questioned myself until I found the item I was looking for, though, I was a bit hesitant to wear it when I saw what it looks like.

"This just looks like a glorified shackle with a wing mark on it." True to my words, when I pulled the 'anklet' out from my inventory it appeared to only be a golden shackle with the mark of a wing on the side of it.

"Yo, System, you sure this is safe for me to wear? Because if I became Hermes's bitch after I put this on, I'm gonna be pissed." I was doubtful that anything good would come of wearing this. Especially because, if my memory serves me right, Hermes was known as a trickster a lot of the time.

[Answer: Yes, Eve, nothing bad will come of equipping the Blessing of The Messenger God]

Even though the system confirmed nothing bad will happen to me, I was still hesitant to put on the 'anklet'. Though, maybe its appearance was just a prank from Hermes to fuck with me a bit, if so then I guess there would be no reason to hesitate.

"Fuck it, I'll put it on. But. If this does fuck me over at some point, I'll pull some Loki level shit on Hermes if I ever see him." I went to put the item on my left ankle, but the second it got close to the skin of my leg it suddenly moved like a serpent and wrapped itself around my ankle.

"What the fuck?!" I yelled out before it emitted a blinding golden light that made me have to shield my eyes.

While the Blessing of The Messenger God kept shining brightly I felt a strange warmth spread through my body. It even began to feel like my body was actively becoming so light that I could potentially fly through the air just like the Messenger God of Olympus.

After a couple minutes of having to guard my eyes from the blinding glow of the item, the light finally began to die down, and the system told me that I could remove my hands from my face now. The moment I did, I saw that the shackle anklet was no longer there anymore, which confused me.

"Uhm... System, where did it go?" I looked on the floor to see if it might have fallen off or something, but I couldn't find the golden band anywhere.

[Answer: The item known as, Blessing of The Messenger God, is now bound to your soul, Eve. So, it no longer has a needed physical form, as it is not physically needed for combat or to utilize its enchantments attached to it]

"Bound to my soul? How the fuck does that even work- Oh shit! I got a tattoo now?!" I yelled out when I looked on the left side of my ankle, because what looked like a black wing tattoo was there as clear as day.

"Do all blessings turn into tattoos? Cause I don't think I've heard of a blessing appearing like this on someone, other than in Danmachi!" I said while looking at the mark that will probably stay with me for as long as I live.

[Answer: Most blessings only leave a physical mark on the body if the god distributing it intended for it to stay as a reminder]

"A reminder of wha- Actually... never mind, I just remembered this is something from Hermes, he might just try and use this as an excuse for me to do him a favor in the future or some shit." I said while I got up from the couch and went over to the kitchen.

"Now, before I get back to questionin' my life choices that lead to me havin' to study a quarter of a libraries stock, I'mma check out this kitchen." Going up to the double door fridge, which now looked massive as hell, I grabbed hold of the handle to the fridge and accidentally pulled that shit off.

"..." I just stared down with vacant eyes at the fridge handle that had now been forcefully evacuated from its former place of residence.

"Note to self, strength control, learn that shit." I said, devoid of any emotion, while I went to put that handle on the kitchen counter.

Going back to the fridge I very gently grabbed the door by the gap between the two doors and pulled it open. Surprisingly, I managed not to break more of it while doing this, though I still stood there speechless.

The reason for this was because I could not see the back of that fridge at all, it was so deep, and so full of ingredients to make food, that even if I got a telescope out I would still not be able to see that shit. Basically, what I'm saying is, the system must have modified this fridge, or got it custom-built, because there was enough stuff in there to feed an entire city for a whole year.

"Holy fuckin shit... System, I know my curse makes me need to eat a lot, but isn't this a bit much?" I asked while gesturing to the massive amount of stuff in front of me.

[Answer: Negative. In fact, the amount of sustenance in the fridge is the bare minimum to feed you for the next month]

"Excuse me?..." I could've sworn that I heard the sound of glass breaking somewhere as I heard what the system had to say.

[Answer: Due to the effects of the Curse of Gluttony, you will be required to eat 3 tons worth of material each day in order to grow at the expected rate]

"Three tons... I- Nope! Nope! I'm not doing this shocked bullshit again! I'm just going to push it down, make something to eat, and get back to studying about aura so I can get to the next stage of this quest!" I quickly went back to the bookshelf and grabbed a random cookbook to put one of my newest skills to use.

"Now, let's see what I'm gonna eat-" I stopped when I read the title of the cookbook I ended up picking at random.

"'Simply Sweet Dream Puffs'? Fuck it, looks like I'm gonna be eating enough cream puffs to give Godzilla diabetes." At this point I could already feel my hunger start to make itself known, so it didn't really matter what I ate, I just needed to eat something.

"Oh! That reminds me. System, does the curse, or Healthy Body, keep me from suffering the negative effects of eating only unhealthy food?" Although I haven't cooked much, I did still know a few recipes, though they're all far from being considered nutritional or healthy.

[Answer: Affirmative, Eve]

"Then let's get cooking, or baking I guess!" I said with a smile on my face as I went to go bake enough cream puffs to fill the entire kitchen and living room.

While I was using my skill to bake enough sweets to give an elder god cavities, back in Japan a certain hybrid principal was talking with his favorite sleep-deprived colleague.

"My, it's only been a day, and yet it feels as if the world has begun to change greatly." Nezu said as he took a sip of his tea.

"And yet, you look happy, Nezu." Aizawa said from his seat across from the chaos rat that he had to call his boss with an open folder in hand.

"Why of course! Things have been quite dull lately, so this has been a breath of fresh air!" The rat-dog-bear said as he looked at images on his computer of the beam of light that caught the attention of Japan, and the rest of the world.

"Well, at least you find this shit entertaining, meanwhile the rest of us are having trouble making heads or tails of what happened." The underground hero let out an exhausted sigh, questioning why he hasn't quit this damn job yet.

"Oh? Has Sir Nighteye stopped helping with the investigation? That's unlike him." Based on what Nezu has learned of the spectacled, he would be more likely to let a piece of All Might merch get dirty, rather than give up on a case like this.

"Well, he's locked himself in his apartment since yesterday, so of course he isn't gonna be of much use at the moment." Even All Might wasn't able to convince the man to come out after what happened.

"That's odd. Has he given a reason as to why he's refusing to leave his home?" Sir always had some sort of reason for what he does, even if it seems strange at first, but in the end he still got results with his quirk and information gathering skills.

"All he said was, 'I must document everything I've seen', and then he handed me this and told me to look for anyone drawing the symbol on it." Aizawa took a folded piece of paper out from his pocket and handed it to Nezu.

"Hm? This looks rather odd, I recognize what's in this drawing, but I've never seen them put together like this." What he saw on the paper was what looked like a lotus on top of a halo, or dish, with a mitsudomoe on the center petal of the lotus, all colored in red.

"Yeah, which means it'll be hard to find anyone drawing that specific symbol. Though I think each part of it holds a meaning, especially after I checked out the place where that light we saw originated." Aizawa put a couple photos on Nezu's desk, which showed an abandoned house covered from top to bottom in red lotus flowers with black stems and leaves attached to them.

"This house was definitely where the light came from, though there were no signs of damage, that didn't come with age, and these flowers even covered the inside of the place." He put a few more photos on the desk, now showing close ups of the flowers and the inside of the house, one of them even showed the flowers growing out of a living bird that was stuck to a wall.

"How interesting~" Nezu chuckled out, his interest growing with each bit of information Aizawa gave him. "Did you collect any of the flowers to see if they were made using someones quirk?"

"That's where I think they hold some meaning in this drawing..." Aizawa said as he rubbed his eyes, just wanting to go back to sleep already.

"When I tried to use my pocket knife to gather a few of them, the blade of it was cut instead of the stem..." He brought out the pocket knife in question showing that the blade of it was cleanly cut off.

"I then tried to use my lighter to burn the stem, but nothing happened... it was like it was specifically designed to not be taken out of where it was planted by any means..." Aizawa had to stop himself from shuddering at the diabolical grin that Nezu had after hearing what he said.

"Judging by that little light show we all saw, the sky changing color for a bit, Sir Nighteye's behaviour, and now these strange flowers that don't act like any flower we've seen, I can come to only one conclusion. None of these have to do with someone's quirk." Nezu's grin grew even more as he said this, and Aizawa felt like the worst case scenario had finally come, one that he had been dreading since Sir talked about his odd dreams.

"We may be looking at the first signs of the beginning of a new era. And, that girl, Himiko Toga, she may very well be the one to bring about this change, or at least be at the center of it. I can't wait to see what happens next!" Nezu laughed as he said this, a type of laugh that shook Aizawa to his very core, a laugh that meant only one thing. That girl has officially peaked Nezu's interest.
