Chapter 2: The First Trial
I pushed myself up slowly, every movement was a struggle against the fatigue that weighed me down like chains.
As I finally managed to sit, I could feel the cold gaze of the figure piercing deep in me.
Gripping the cold iron bars as support, I weakly got on my feet.
My head was pounding like a jackhammer, my thoughts were still a tangled mess.
It didn't really matter as the figure's words had sent a chill down my spine.
"Easier for you?" I managed to say, my voice cracking with anxiety. "What are you talking about?"
The figure stepped closer, and as the dim light caught their features, a man clad in a dark uniform, his expression unreadable.
A long scar ran down his cheek, his lifeless eyes seemed to strip away every layer of my confusion, leaving nothing but fear.
I instinctively moved back like a prey backing away from a predator. I could feel my back turn cold with fear.
"You would find out soon," He replied. "No, you would find out right now."
I tensed as he opened the door, the croak of the hinges eerily echoing in the cell.
I wanted to escape, every fiber of my being screaming to get out of here. But where can I go? Could I even get past this menacing figure?
"Wait." I said, trying to summon all the courage I had. "What do you want from me? Why am I here?"
The man paused, his hands deep in his pockets. The silence was brief, for a moment I thought he wouldn't answer till he looked me in the eye.
"I personally don't really know as much as to why you are here," He shrugged. "But I don't really care, you're here right now and you are here for a reason."
Before I could say anything, two more figures appeared behind him, both wearing similar uniforms.
They looked younger—I could guess a few years older than me, less intimidating than him but their stern faces made it clear they weren't here for any form of nonsense.
"Bring him." the man ordered, his tone sharp.
The younger guards stepped into the cell, and I instinctively backed away, my heart pounding in my chest.
"Hold on!" I shouted, my voice rising as they came closer. "You can't just drag me off without explaining anything! What do you want from me?"
Silence met my reply as one of the guards grabbed my arm, his grip firm but not rough. I tried to resist but my body was still weak, and I was easily overpowered.
As they led me out of the cell, the hallway stretched endlessly before us, dimly lit by flickering torches mounted on the walls.
The air was damp and heavy, carrying the faint scent of mildew and something metallic.
Every step I took felt like walking into the unknown. I shivered when I felt I was being watched and when I glanced up, I saw cameras positioned at almost every corner.
Recollecting the events, I was sent to the world of My Hero Academia as a punishment.
But where exactly am I?
Why am I locked up?
What do they want from me?
At which point of the story was I dropped in?
Who are these guys? I don't really recall seeing them in the story.
Are they minor villains or did I forget a part of the story?
Eventually, we stopped in front of a large, open room. It looked like a gym—though it gave the feeling of a training ground.
The figures dragged me in as I had no way of resisting. The room was empty except for a few mats, some basic equipment, and a man standing in the center.
The figures all bowed as we approached and I was shocked beyond belief once I saw the man's face.
It was a face that I had seen countless times but not one I was expecting to see in the flesh.
His presence was weird. Almost suffocating, like a heavy blanket that wrapped around my lungs and made it hard to breathe.
He was tall, his body composed of swirling purple mist that seemed to shift and writhe like a living thing.
His eyes glowed with an unnatural yellow light, seeming to suck everything around him.
He was dressed in an elegant suit with tie, having a metal brace that goes around his collarbone to just below his eyes.
He was almost too clean for someone who was clearly here to fight.
Kurogiri.
One of the main villains in My Hero Academia.
The air around him seemed to vibrate with an otherworldly energy, making my skin prickle with unease.
Is he the one who kidnapped me?
Why am I here in front of him, of all places to be?
What does he want from me?
I could only cry and curse inwardly because why the hell was I dropped out of all the places to be dropped?
As if he read my thoughts, he stepped forward. His gaze remained fixed on me, causing me to shudder at its unsettling gaze.
"You're going to fight," he said, his voice deep and commanding. "No prep. No warm-up. Just fight."
I froze, my stomach sinking. Fight?
I'd never fought before. I couldn't even remember the last time I swung my fist. I was just a regular guy before I was brought here—before all of this.
"Hizaki, test the boy," He glanced at the older figure in black uniform. "Let me see what he can do."
"Wait! Wait!!" I raised my hands up, trying to reason. "I think you have the wrong person. I can't fight, maybe you made a mistake."
"I won't say I'll be easy on you boy," Hizaki said as he took a step forward, ignoring my words. "But I'll try to be moderate for your level."
The air around him seemed to distort as he took a stance. His face twisted into a deadly menacing scowl, making him look like a beast.
I felt a chill run down my spine as his gaze locked onto mine, and my back turned cold with fear.
I braced myself, trying to stay calm. The room was spinning in my vision as my heartbeat picked up, beads of sweat forming on my face.
The man moved first. Faster than I could even react.
He struck with a precision that sent me stumbling backward. His fist connected with my stomach and all the air was knocked out of me.
I gasped, trying to catch my breath but there was no time to recover. Another blow came to my ribs, a sharp pain shooting through my side.
I staggered, barely managing to keep my feet under me. My every fiber of being screaming at me to get away from here.
He's going to kill me.
His next attack came even faster. My arms came up weakly in a desperate attempt to block, but I was too slow. His kick landed hard on my face, sending me flying backward onto the mat.
I gasped for air as a warm, sticky liquid began to seep out of my nose and trickle down my face. I could feel it pooling on my lips and chin, and I knew that it was blood.
My head was spinning, and my vision was starting to blur. I felt a wave of dizziness wash over me, sharp pain jolting through my entire body.
I tried to push myself up, but my arms and legs felt like they were made of lead. I was frozen in place. Unable to move.
The man didn't speak again, but his eyes remained cold, waiting for me to rise. There was no pity in them. No hesitation.
I forced myself to my knees, my chest heaving with each ragged breath.
This isn't just a test.
This is real.
And I'm going to die here.
But then something shifted in the air. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up as I noticed a new presence. I didn't see him enter, but I felt him.
I turned, my body stiffening. Kurogiri was standing by the door, his expression unreadable. But it was the figure beside him that made my heart shudder.
He was a tall, imposing man in a black suit. His face was entirely scarred, extending from above his upper lip and covering his entire head and the back of his neck.
He had an aura of power, his very presence suffocating everything in the room. The energy around him was purely dark and sinister.
Like Kurogiri, this was a face I was familiar with but if I had an option, it'll be the last face I would want to see.
All For One.
The antagonist of the series.
Although there was almost no facial features, I could swear I felt his eyes on me from the moment I noticed him.
He stepped forward slowly, his 'eyes' locked onto me. I couldn't help but shudder.
There was something terrifying about him, something that made me feel like I was about to be crushed.
He raised a hand, and I felt my body stiffen. It was like he was controlling the air around me, bending it to his will.
"Get up," All For One said, his voice low and commanding.
I wanted to protest, to demand what was going on, but the words were stuck in my throat. The aura around this man made it impossible to move.
I forced myself on my feet even though my knees were shaking. I tried to steady my breathing, my side burning with pain.
It took all the energy in me to stay conscious, my body was badly beaten. I could hear the pounding in my chest, the sound deafening in my ears.
"You're weak," the man said, his voice colder than ice. "But you will be useful. Eventually."
I wanted to ask him what he meant, but the words were lodged in my chest. I couldn't dare to speak.
He turned to Kurogiri. "Make sure he understands what's at stake."
Immediately Kurogiri bowed, I felt a sharp pain in my temple. The blow was so fast, I didn't see it coming.
My vision blurred and the world tilted. I fell to the ground, my face hitting the mat with a thud.
I felt strength seep out of my body as my eyelids closed.
The last thing I saw before the world became dark was Kurogiri's gaze, like a hawk.
